I kind of view him similar to Jose Mourinho in soccer. He makes a big splash the first year, but players stop responding after a few years and he clashes with top brass.

I have made this comparison many times. He is a turnaround artist. Work them hard, be intense, create an us against the world environment and play conservative and mistake free.

But eventually that intensity and that demand for zero mental mistakes wears people around you down. It does for Jose and it does for Jim Harbaugh.

If the Jets hired him they would win double digit games the next 2 years and falter in the post season.

Very low chance of success...even if they offer $10 million per year, $7.4 million in Michigan goes a lot farther than $10 million in NYC

...$7.4 mil at Michigan, a campus deity and surely a recipient of "boosts" from big money boosters..........sounds pretty cushy to me vs NFL and divas....Saban and Petrino returned for a reason....

The NFL is by far the better job if a coach is up to it, which he clearly is

...all depends on the individual's career objectives/goals....Saban certainly seems content with multiple national championships as is Belichick with 5 Lombardi's......

One would be in the NFL if they could handle it.

A far larger accomplishment to coach men at the top level than kids at the lower level.

they are different roles as well, college recruiting isnt for everyone.

harbaugh belongs in the NFL and I wouldn’t be surprised if a good team or one on the rise signs him up, it’s in his blood

Michigan has recruited at an elite level since Harbaugh has been there.  He will never beat OSU. As someone that has watched closely for the last handful of year he is WAY overrated.

Bring the hammer Kirby! So correct!

Ask yourself this: why did he bail out to Michigan if he was cut out for the NFL?

Burn out hits pro coaches, and it was a great contract he couldn’t refuse

but the gig at Michigan hasn’t worked out (and  family dinners must be fun with him getting teased for wussing out)

no surprise if he comes back to the NFL

these guys are kind of super driven and only the pros is really satisfying

Haha!!! He’s only won everywhere he’s been.  What a disaster.

that would be an amazing here. I don’t think he’s leaving Michigan because it’s his school and he wants to win big there.  But anyone who doesn’t think it would be a good hire is delusional. I’d fire SM right now for Harbaugh.  Allen would be great in a Harbaugh offense.

Michigan (and Ohio St) boosters have been impatient when their coaches don’t beat the other school.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t retained.

The worst victim of the NFL/NCAA divide was when Musburger was king of announcers for the NFL, and asked for way too much in his contract renewal, and found himself sent to the fifth rate hype of the college game

Darnold will be in the SB short order if they land Harbaugh. He'll wear out his welcome quickly, but it will be worth it.

And we're stuck with McDumbass...

Many top pro coaches burn out fast, especially with success.

i would most welcome a Jets/Bills talented rivalry for the 2020s....

I hope the do getbhim. He is a disaster of a coach.

Agreed.  His career is really not that impressive.  He won at Stanford...when they had Andrew Luck, the best QB prospects since the early 80s.  Not impressed.  He won with the 49ers...after Mike Singletary did all the dirty work for that team first and got the roster and team discipline set for him.  Harbaugh came and they seemed to get worse and worse each year.  Went from 13-3 first year to 8-8 in 4th year.  He's turned around Michigan....Michigan continues to get top ranked recruiting classes (arguably from advantages that are very NE Pats like as far as manipulating rules in setting up such as practice trips to exotic European destinations), yet they always choke it away in the big games.  He has yet to beat their arch rival when that is the single most important thing for their program to do each year.  This includes a 62 point performance given up by their vaunted defense this season.  Ugh.

He is the most overrated NFL / College coach I have ever seen.

Guest K-GunJimKelly12

44-19-1 record, went to 3 straight NFC Championships and 1 Super Bowl with the Niners that they were a play away from winning.  All with two QB's who are not considered elite at all.  Take away those years and the Niners are close to the Bills in futility this century.  The Jim Harbaugh hate is ridiculous.  His personality may be off putting to some but he is a great coach.  Also beat up Jim Kelly.

I do so miss his sideline histrionics.

The NY media would eat him alive. I really think he’s unstable.

otherwise he reminds me of Rex Ryan.all soundbites, hype and gimmick like the “khaki cam”, the woody Hayes glasses, milk commercials, creepy recruiting sleepovers, team trips to Europe, but no results. Living off past reputation from the few years with the niners playoff runs but hasn’t had recent success and his supposed area of “specialty”, offense and developing QBs, has been a failure.

He really has not “turned Michigan around”. He has the same # of losses as his predecessor Brady Hoke had in his first 3 seasons there, and not only hasn’t he won the Big 10 yet, he hasn’t even won the Big 10 East.

That said he might be better in the nfl than college and likely will return at some point. His personality can really grind on the players though and if he’s not winning it won’t last long. I’d expect that Michigan would be relieved if he left on his own. It’s getting awkward up there.

Turn on the Peach Bowl

In typical Harbaugh fashion his team gets curb-stomped in the biggest games. You guys need to stop remembering 2012 Jim Harbaugh and learn about 2019 Jim Harbaugh. They were a 5.5 point favorite and will lose by 20. The guy sucks!!

His scheme and play calling are pure 90s. I cant take it.

Also when is he ever going to learn to value speed?

He’s a great recruiter. His Michigan teams are really, really talented. They’ll end up ranked about 15th. When you have top 7 or 8 talent you shouldn’t EVER finish 15th. He does every year. He always gets beat by OSU and then goes on to play some secondary SEC East team in some secondary bowl and gets beat. Wash, rinse, repeat

I think most of the fans are still with him because of the Rich Rod/Hoke debacles. As much as they're dissatisfied with losing to OSU/bowl games, they WANT to believe he's going to get it done "NEXT YEAR." Awkward is spot on. They should pay more attention to the guy coaching the basketball team who is truly ELITE, but that's another story.

Yep, Beilein is the “anti-Harbaugh.” He is ALL results. His teams consistently overachieve and are incredibly well-coached.

+ or - $8 mil a year......NO salary cap....PLENTY of "booster presents" under his Christmas tree and then some..AND...a campus deity.....sacrifice to go work for Woody "Woodpecker" Johnson?.....mo money?...better job security?.....OR...egotistical insanity for an NFL return?.......interesting....then again, those dunbazz glasses............

For the life of me I can’t figure out why Shea Patterson would want to return to this archaic offense....

No idea where else he can go but this offense is ruining his nfl draft status.

They just punted down 21 with 8 min to go in the 4th?

And that’s the crux of it all. He should be overwhelming teams with speed and talent and yet he’s not. He just keeps doing the same crap.
