Hockey is nice, but it's not the NFL.  And people will come out and see a winner.  Even in Vegas, the locals aren't going to shell out for a 2-14 team chock full of nobodies.

They won't need to shell out.........the road teams fans will fill that place.

Will be only team in the NFL running silent snap all 16 games.

A much more likely scenario is that Gruden has not forgiven the Davis family and Raiders for firing him all those years ago and this season he is exacting his calculated and painful revenge.

Mad respect for Gruden if so haha

Whatever you think about Gruden, it's obvious he's arrogant. With that in mind winning with guys YOU DIDN'T BRING IN isn't going to be good enough, he has to prove he can do it with his own star players. Add the fact that a lot of people say he only won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team and that probably makes him even more likely to try and do it on his own terms.

Nobody mentions that he beat his old team.  Who's to say he wouldn't have won with the Raiders?  Dungy was a good coach, something was missing with that team and Gruden brought it.  Tampa got really old quick, and didn't have the 1st rd picks to reload.  Ego then did him in.

Refuse to pay one of the best pass rushers/defensive players in the NFL.  Trade of of the better young WR’s in the NFL.  Openly state that your franchise QB is “available” for trade.

Essentially they traded 2 proven assets for 2 first round draft picks which are not going to be guaranteed “hits.”

I think this is less about the best interest of he team, and more about making this Gruden’s team.

I heard from someone on TV/radio today that people close to the team report players already don’t trust Gruden’s word. He says one thing, but does another. They don’t all trust him, which was EXACTLY his rep in Tampa.

Gruden is doing what a coach with a 10 year contract should be doing. Mack and a second round pick netted 2 first round picks and a third round pick. Amari Cooper netted a first round pick, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Carr get traded and net a first round pick and an additional premium selection. The Raiders have 5 first round picks in the next two drafts. It is possible that they could trade Carr for two more firsts and end up with 7 first round picks over the course of two drafts.

Gruden basically bought his own process 2 years of rebuilding while they are still in Oakland. The Raiders might suck this year and next year but once they get rid of their big contracts and eat the dead money in 2019 they will be primed to do exactly what the Rams did the past two off-seasons and that's stack a roster with a ton of talent around a rookie QB (assuming they trade Carr which I think is likely.) The Raiders might have a top 3 selection this year and they could easily trade up to get whatever QB they want and still have 1-2 more first round picks to play with along with an early second round pick. Once they clear dead cap in 2019 they will have 2-3 more first round picks and a ton of cap space come 2020.

Overall if any other coach was doing this they would be praised for taking good players like Cooper and Carr and turning them into a horde of draft picks. Even Mack a truly elite player worth the picks they received was a necessary sacrifice to build a contender long term instead of being mired in mediocrity. I do hope Carr ends up on a good team, if the Giants could fix their O-Line he could do wonders for them (Giants have elite players in Barkley and Odell, Sheppard and Engram are solid complementary pieces too), that unfortunate leg injury coupled with bad personnel decisions really set Carr's career back.

...and after a 10 year hiatus, who the hell knows what THAT may be or does he even know?......the lipstick on his twin cheeks is his OWN even after 10 years.......too much money and too much power, a/k/a "The Davis Factor"......Reggie walks or gets canned, TBD lights up with "fire McBeane...hire Reggie" threads, and Bruce Allen bolts the Deadskins for Raiders job to reunite with Chuckie ala their Tampa days.....could be THE method to HIS madness.............

Gruden has a method to his madness. He knew the core of Carr, Mack, and Cooper while good was not going to win anything longer term esp given their cap situation wasn't so great and they were going to be locked into 3 massive contracts had they decided to pay Mack and Cooper. Carr is the last man standing and he will likely get shipped out for a package of picks too. It is possible Carr could net 2 first round picks and more. Assuming Carr goes for a flat 2 first round picks he will have turned the trio of Mack, Cooper, and Carr into 5 first round picks over 2 drafts. That's the type of draft capital that a guy with a 10 year contract could use to build a sustained contender. Combine that with the fact that the Raiders will be able to clear cap space and rid themselves of any remaining bad contracts in 2019 and you can see the Raiders plan to get super competitive quickly in Oakland.

Give Gruden some time before writing him off. He’s got 5 first rounders the next 2 years.

If he can hit on some of those, the raiders will be just fine.

I also think he finds Carr’s replacement soon enough

He can probably get 2 more firsts for Carr and have 7 first round picks in 2 years. If he hits on a rookie QB and finds 3-4 elite pieces with those picks look out because they will have the cap space sooner rather than later to add a lot of talent just in time for their Vegas move.

Nonsense. Vegas gets tourists from all over the US and the globe by the millions. NFL is another attraction. My family are locals and we bought season tickets, which are almost sold out. It's a win win. If they're good you go the game. If not you sell the tickets. It works in Vegas. The team even stopped locals from selling their hockey tickets on Stubhub. Its Vegas. So, the local fan base is kind of irrelevant.

Absolutely.  No different than what we are going through right now in Buffalo.

We'll be thanking Chuckie in April after the Bills finish 2-14 and Oakland eeks out 5 wins and then trades us 2 #1's and a high #2 and a high #3  to draft Herbert.  Their wins will be ARI, SF, At Home against DEN and an upset...
