Also, Jerry Hughes' 90.5 rating as a pass rusher makes him the third best pass rusher in the league according to their metric (behind Aaron Donald and Fletcher Cox).

Jerry has been back to his best this year after a couple of so-so seasons.

Au contraire. I thought Hughes was lights out last season. He had a ridiculous number of pressures.

He was constantly in position to make plays last year. I just don't think he made them. He got pressure but didn't finish plays.

Because there was no push in the middle and QBs always stepped up just out of his grasp. It was infuriating but not his fault.. That's why the brought in Star, who has been doing the job this season.

In general they're doing more stunting with Murphy/Shaq, and rushing 4 in more creative ways.  Murphy and Hughes aren't dropping into coverage a lot, but when they are it's actually disrupting passing lanes, and milano/edmunds have been creating pressure.

The amazing thing is the Bills' D hasn't had the luxury of playing their offense like the top 3 teams on that list. Playing the Bills' O skews those numbers.

A win...today.  So there's that.

Yes but it's so frustrating when the pieces in offense stink. Only legit playmaker is McCoy and they don't give him the ball enough. Also Harper Valley middle school has a better playbook so that may be a slight issue.

They are congealing into a unit that can keep the team in games on a weekly basis.  It's nice to see after the slow start to begin the season.

Speaking of DVOA:

'In particular, Arizona plummeted on offense, from -31.3% to -39.9%. That puts the Cardinals into rare territory as one of the ten worst offenses we've ever tracked through seven games. But the Cardinals still can't even come close to the impotence of the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo's offensive DVOA stayed relatively constant after the Indianapolis blowout, going from -53.4% to -53.2%. But most of the worst offenses we've ever tracked weren't staying constant around Week 7 -- they were starting to come back from their horrendous starts, slowly improving their ratings. Which means that the 2018 Buffalo Bills are now the worst offense in DVOA history, at least through seven games.'

It was always the plan (imho) to fix the D this year and the O next year.

Everything is going according to the plan that a lot of folks have no patience for

The plan was not for the Bills to have an HBO.

You have to do some serious mental gymnastics to think that what's happening is "part of a plan". Was it part of the plan to switch punters 1 week before the season started?
(I'm kidding), but you can't honestly think it was part of the plan to be starting a 35 year old washed up guy off his couch whose only been on the team for a few days in week 8 (Monday Night) against the NE Patriots.

It's just embarrassing at this point. Loud sighs all around.

No, ours is worse I think, sadly. It's on track to be the WORST offense in the modern era if it continues as it has been I read today.

McDermott inherited a team that was 7th in the NFL in scoring and had the fewest turnovers of any team since the merger thru 15 games played in 2016.

Best offense the Bills had fielded in 25 years.

And less than a year and a half in they are on pace to be not just the worst offense in the league but possibly the worst in the league in the last 75 years.

Think again.

They're both pretty awful. Not much of a DVOA guy...but imo the Bills are not significantly worse than the Cardinals offensively. More YPG and first downs. Passing stats and TO% are sunk because of Peterman. My take is they're equivalently bad.

If it helps you sleep at night, then blame it on Peterman and tell yourself that the Bills aren't the worst.

Meh. Both Rosen and Darnold have higher INT% than Allen. All the rookie QBs have sub-40 QBR if you believe in that kind of stat.

Why only look at the bad? Allen's got higher Yards/Completion than Brees, Brady, Cousins, and Luck. When he gets back maybe they should look at getting him more attempts.

Five games into a rookie season. What a lazy piece of tripe.

This isn't about any other QB.  You were making the case the Bills horrid offensive numbers should be laid at the feet of Peterman.  I posted something to show that was not the case.  It's just a historically bad offense for several reasons including bad QB play.
