26CornerBlitz
The Joey Bosa effect: Chargers need more pass rush Eric D. Williams ESPN Staff Writer COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell had the tough task over the weekend. He tried to replace one of the best defensive players in the game in Joey Bosa. A seventh-round selection in last year’s draft out of Notre Dame, Rochell finished with four tackles and no sacks in a 38-28 season-opening loss against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Without Bosa in the game for the Chiefs to focus on, his counterpart Melvin Ingram recorded three quarterback hits but no sacks.
Mr. WEO
Must have been tough for McD to make the easiest decision of his coaching career. Anyway, I think Allen will be OK. It's simply impossible to perform worse than the backup. And that SD defense just layed down for over 400 yards passing....by Mahomes (a kid with 2 more career starts than Allen). What really will make or break the Bills Sunday is no the O-line, it;s the Defense. They gave up 47 points on 8 scoring drives (including ones of 66, 80, 85 and 89 yds) to Joe Flacco and the Ravens. KC is actually an NFL caliber offense though, and one of the better ones. I'm sure Melvin will have at least 5 sacks and 7 QB hits against our "line". If they can't get off the field in the 1st Q, that's pathetic and on them alone. The D sucked. The secondary sucked. They need to play a lot better or Allen will be starting from his own 35 or worse on every drive. 2 minutes ago, 26CornerBlitz said: Is he wearing Charlie Casserly's piece? If we started Nasty Nate one more time I'd be afraid the league would seize contorl of the team for gross negligence and incompetence. If he started Nasty Nate we'd have to trade away everyone for 7th round draft picks because none of the current players would ever want to play for McDermott ever again. 26CornerBlitz
Hello Trent Murphy! Bolts Need Sam Tevi to Step Up in a Hurry Head Coach Anthony Lynn announced on Monday what was obvious to anyone who caught the season opener – Sam Tevi is set to take over for the time being at right tackle after Joe Barksdale was carted off the field in the first quarter with a knee injury. "As of right now, Sam is the starting right tackle," he said. “Sam has been the swing tackle since day one of training camp. We knew that if someone went down that he would step in at left tackle or right tackle. That's what we're going to do.”

26CornerBlitz
Bills switch to rookie QB Allen, 'is the right move' ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott on Wednesday named rookie Josh Allen as the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, repeating several times that he believed it was the "right move for our team" but declining to explain further. "I don't feel a need, honestly, to elaborate," McDermott said about the decision to replace Week 1 starter Nathan Peterman following a 47-3 road loss to the Baltimore Ravens. "We talk a lot in-house about decisions and things and what we got to do, and the right move at the right time. Right now -- with all respect to your question -- this is the right move for us. "With all due respect to the questions, I get it. There's some things that I can share, but there's some things that need to stay where they need to stay. I'm respecting where you guys are, and you need to respect where we are on this as well." "[Allen] is prepared. He will be prepared. I don't think he's prepared yet -- it's a natural progression during a week -- but he'll be prepared," McDermott said. "At the end of the day, he's a young player. We keep that all in mind, manage expectations, and know that we embrace that growth mindset that there's going to be some challenges, some adversity, and you keep learning as you go and you embrace that." Allen's athleticism and ability to make intermediate throws were plus-factors, and the staff believes those things will improve the running game, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Buffalo finished with 83 rushing yards, including 22 yards on seven carries by LeSean McCoy.

26CornerBlitz
Chargers not altering game plan on defense facing rookie QB COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers face a familiar scenario for the second straight game, preparing for an athletic but inexperienced quarterback. After facing Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes last week, the Chargers will go up against Buffalo’s Josh Allen, who will be making his first NFL start Sunday. Coach Anthony Lynn and members of the Chargers secondary say they don’t see much alteration of the game plan with the Bills going to their rookie, who was the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft. “When preparing against someone like that, you are not going to change too much. You watch the tape, look at the tendencies when making certain throws and go off on that,” safety Adrian Phillips said. The Chargers are preparing for Allen the same way they did with Mahomes, which is breaking down his college tape and preseason game. Safety Derwin James said the biggest thing that surprised him watching Allen was that he was better than he thought as a runner. Allen was sacked three times in last Sunday’s 47-3 loss to Baltimore but did have four rushes for 26 yards. Lynn said he expects a healthy amount of run-pass option plays for Allen. “He can run the zone read. Two of those were designed quarterback runs so he can move. You are going to have some of the same issues (as last week),” he said. Edited September 13, 2018 by 26CornerBlitz
