NFL Sunday Ticket

I have yet to make my annual call.  Gotta get on that.

Making mine next week when my contract runs out.

$60 off/month sounds enticing, would be $240/year savings off what I'm getting now...and if they take $15/month off ST Max, would leave me paying a little more less than $100 for ST Max.

And with no contract, I think I'd take that deal.

It seems to me there has been a shift with AT&T/DirecTV whereby they do not want to give the impression (to the NFL?) that they are reducing the price of Sunday Ticket, hence the "loyalty discounts" on the bill rather than giving ST away for free or at a deep discount.  Really six of one, half dozen of the other as far as I'm concerned.  I'm going to get on the phone now and I'll report back with what they offer me.

Yup, that's certainly the impression this year.  ST discounts may be a thing of the past.

Ok, so it took an hour of my time but here's what I got:

25% discount off Sunday Ticket (regular), so $36.47/mo. for 6 months -- cost $218.82

50% off Max upgrade (but I have to call back before 9/1) -- cost $50

Total cost ST Max:  $268

$55/mo. credit on my bill for 12 months ($660 savings)

Basically, they paid me nearly $400.

Well worth my time.  Enjoy, guys and gals.

Which department did you speak to? The disconnect department, or a different one?

That's pretty good.  The $55/month off is $15 more than what I'm getting now which would $180/year.  $268-180 would equal $88 for ST Max.  I can live with that.

Any contract?

An hour though?  Sheesh, they don't make it easy.

Thanks for the report!

I started with an online chat, then called and asked for the “loyalty team”

I never even bother with asking about the contract because I know I’m keeping the service.

It took an hour because the loyalty rep said she couldn’t pull up the ST promotion on her system so she put me on hold while she got a ST rep to do it. She offered me the $55/month immediately.

The Max thing is something about how/when it shows up on the bill. If I’d have signed up for Max now the discount would have been much less.

When you got to the loyalty team, what did you ask for?

4 year customer now on a monthly contract. We had their lowest subscription that spontaneously jumped to $102 a month. My wife and I were realistically thinking of canceling. She called and they offered a reduction in the Bill to $48 a month, which we could not pass up. She brought up Ticket and Red axons and the representative told her they don’t have any deals or promotions right now for that. I think we’ll stick with the basics to get the games locally but come December (hopefully January, if we are lucky) we will axe it all together. It’s just too big of an expense for how much use we get out of it and the cheaper streaming alternatives

The discounts on my bill have been rolling over for at least 5 years now, which I appreciate, but doesn't lower the price of NFL.   So my bill for the next 6 months is still $65 higher than it is now.  I got ST Max last year for $99.  That would make me a happy customer again.  But it seems like that is no longer an option w AT&T.  It's possible calling back in mid-August will open up more discounts, we'll see.

That's usually how it works...they don't always discount Sunday Ticket....you get discounts to reduce your bill to cover the cost....I get $60 off a month.....the Ticket is $65.99 per month...then get free movie channels and other stuff to offset...

Get an android box and download Kodi solutions to it. 8 bucks a month gets you every single channel. NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, pay per views, etc. You can even get 35 channels of hard core porno, if you’re into that kind of thing.....

I miss when we all argued why Napster wasn't stealing.

I kept it simple; said I was looking to lower my bill and get a discount on the Ticket.  At first she said no discounts on Ticket but offered the $55/month.  I politely said I was looking for more than that.  It never got testy.  They have discounts to give if you are persistent yet pleasant.

So i cancelled my DTV sub when I changed jobs (was at ATT, got free DTV & ST) but was wondering if anyone has reactivated their subscription just for the ST?  I don't mind paying for it, i still have the dish on my roof, i'd just need a box i guess?  Does anyone know if I can do that?  I dont want the rest of the package, but as long as I can get the ST, and cancel DTV at the end of the season, i'm not terribly price sensitive.

The other solution using the official NFL stream over a european VPN is an interesting possibility.  I use PIA on my pc, and could probably cobble together a linux box to connect to my tv, VPN to europe, and sign up for the NFL stream.

Failing that, i'm looking now at the kodi streaming solution.  If the NFL isn't going to take my money that I am willingly offering to them, i may have to find a plan B.

it just sent me to the DTV front page, I cant seem to get at that URL.

The college student package, what's the story there?  My oldest is at UB, i'd feel largely justified in having her get the package then using it since she'll be at the home games anyways.

My annual contract runs out on August 16.  I have called a couple of times to see what offers are out there for next year and so far, there hasn't been much.  $5 off per month and some free Cinemax.  My current agreement has me with $75 off per month and I got free Ticket Max last year.  Last year, I had already gotten $55 off per month for 12 months and free Ticket, and an unrelated call to an inexperienced rep last year netted me an additional $20 off per month for 12 months.  I'm not realistically expecting to do as well as that this year, but if I can get something in the range of $50 off per month and some kind of decent discount on the Ticket, I will be happy.  So far, I am not happy.  Will try again.

I'll keep checking back here to see how others have done, as that is an indicator of what is available.

All i do is pay $40 per month for internet only & I watch all the NFL games in HD & for free. Not to mention any sporting event or tv series in the world or movie that gets released. But hopefully this year i'll go to a few more home games, because nothing beats the live experience.
