BuffaloBillyG Posted October 29, 2017 Share Posted October 29, 2017 Honestly speaking, what i said wasn't necessarily a shot at Tolbert, but more so that I've wanted Banyard to back up McCoy as the running back since preseason. I definitely don't mind giving the big guy the carries on 3rd and shorts (with some playaction hopefully because everybody knows when it's 3rd n short and Tolbert is on the field, it's almost a guarantee we're running), but I never really felt comfortable with Tolbert being the #2 guy in case McCoy got hurt. I think Banyard has a similar running style as Shady (or at least more similar than the other backs we have), plus, isn't afraid to find holes in the middle while Shady looks to go to the edges. But yeah, my comment wasn't really a knock on Tolbert, just more a personal preference on liking Banyard as the #2 back. Ah ok. Fair enough. My best guesstimate would be if Shady got hurt Banyard and Jones would start in his place with Tolbert keeping his normal role. I do like Rattlesnake Joe, liked him when he was with the Vikes.
