Winning record? Nope! He had seasons of 6-10 and 9-7. The winning record in '14 is only because the Pats didn't care about the result in the season finale. Marrone and Hackett ran a terrible, conservative offense with most of the 2nd season success being attributable to the Jim Schwartz defense. Marrone's weak kneed propensity to punt inside the opponents territory is classic play not to lose thinking.

He's proven nothing other than having an oversized ego despite proving nothing at the NFL level. He's just another meathead who's fortunate to be an NFL HC. Tick, Tick, Tick, Boom!

Remember when the Steelers didn't care if they won or lost the last game of the season and all we needed was a win to get into the playoffs?

That counted.

So did the Bills' last winning record. Under the guy everyone likes to make fun of for running like hell (with their money) from a sinking ship.

Be proud of it.

You want to sing Marrone's praises. Go right ahead, but even Rex had a slightly better record with the Bills than he did. He did nothing special for the Bills.

I am proud to be a Doug Marrone supporter.

What did he do that was so wrong? That hasn't been completely vindicated?

Doug: Said he would turn the Bills around.

Result: Immediate turn around, winning record, best season during the drought, and drop off when he left.

Doug: Hated EJ, wanted a real QB, and said management wouldn't get him one/support him with one.

Result: Used a post-training camp QB acquisition to post a winning record.

Doug: Argued with Whaley, couldn't get along with the entire organizational structure of the Bills, thought the organization was dysfunctional.

Result: Whaley's been canned, the scouting department's been canned, and everyone here wants the holdovers (Brandon, Overdorf) gone as well.

Doug: Thought the players lacked discipline, and wanted to run a tight ship/accountable team.

Result: I'm still reading articles on the front page of this very site about how that fat piece of sh*t Dareus is going to get his act together this year because he's mature. Our team is full of idiots that are constantly coddled. Sammy's best season was with Saint Doug.

Doug: Hated the Buffalo media.

Result: Everyone on this board passionately hates the Buffalo media.

Doug: Wanted to leave because he was unsure if there would be a massive house cleaning because of new ownership.

Result: Massive housecleaning 2 years later, because of new ownership.

The only difference between you and Doug is that he got paid a few million bucks to bag on this sorry organization for the same faults that you idiots come on here and write about in your spare time. He's literally a multi-millionaire message board poster that has insight into the inner workings of why this organization has failed for a decade and a half, but because he walked away from it, bet on himself, got a new job, and now runs a team that will probably make the playoffs before the Bills (lol) he's the bad guy.

Go Doug!

If this post was meant to be ironic, than you nailed it! If not than well......

I'm not singing his praises, per se.

I'm just stating an irrefutable fact that you keep trying to refute. He was the last coach of a Bills team that had a winning record.

And he did more with less. The Bills team under Marrone was closer to the playoffs than they have been since. I get it .... all that means is that he did more with the team than Rex Ryan did and that's no amazing feat. I agree. They BOTH sucked.

But if I only had Rex and Marrone as my two choices to be the HC, I'd choose Marrone all day, every day.

Lastly, since the Bills have one winning record in the last 16 or 17 years ... I would consider that "something special."

Bottom line ... this is like almost every other argument about Bills personnel. It always boils down to who sucked less; not who was better.

That, my friend, is the sad reality.

But things are gonna change, I can feel it!

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Jags win 4 more games this year.

However, judging by the colorful photo it doesn't seem much has changed personality wise with Doug. I may be proven wrong but it's only a matter of time before he starts butting heads and his ego gets in the way.

Who did he butt heads with in Buffalo?

The media? They suck, and we complain about them endlessly.

The players that are lazy? They suck, and we complain about guys like Dareus endlessly.

Management? They suck, and were all just fired.

Meanwhile, Marrone landed another gig, and I'll be rooting for him.

Still the best coach we've had since Wade, going purely by results.

One final thing: to everyone that is giving Schwartz credit for that season--that was the staff that Marrone hired. If you're going to say he was a terrible coach because of Hackett, then you have to say he was a great coach because of Schwartz, no? Isn't that how it works?

Or do we have to cast logic into the bushes to make ourselves feel better because he essentially called out the Bills for being a third rate organization and opted for a career DOWNGRADE instead of job security?

nvm, don't respond, I already know the answer.

Rex Ryan (15-16) had a better record that Marrone (15-17). Yeah....Marrone deserved the St. Doug moniker.

Marrone butted heads with everyone and treated people like crap. There have been multiple inside reports of him treating secretaries, etc. poorly. Everyone. He is a giant douche and I'd rather have Rex. They both suck but at least Rex can have fun. Personally, I think the current coach will easily be the best of the three.
