I saw Paul's interview with Blitzer on CNN and Blitzer tried everything in his arsenal to shut Paul down.

My God, CNN is beyond disgusting in it's approach. No interest in any truth whatsoever. It's a 24/7 Trump bashathon and they don't ever care that their ratings are suffering big time because of it.

Zucker must be damn proud of himself over there.

CNN used to be good............... before the Iraq war.

They aren't in it for ratings, that's what is scary.

Donald Trump is a lot of things, but one of those things is the first POTUS in history to openly take on Big Pharma (while being the first not to take their money). I wondered why this story, which used to be a mainstay of the progressive left as recently as Sanders' campaign, doesn't get any traction in the media.

That's going to have to change, seeing that their new parent company will be expecting profitability from them. If not, heads will roll, I guarantee it.

There's a very interesting connection, in the form of Dmitri Alperovitch, that really causes one to wonder about how the Chinese got that intel.

With the Chinese angle, anyone seen anything solid on this yet?

The Russians didn’t do it. The Chinese did, according to well-placed FBI sources.

And while Democratic lawmakers and the mainstream media prop up Russia as America’s boogeyman, it was the ironically Chinese who acquired Hillary’s treasure trove of classified and top secret intelligence from her home-brewed private server.

And a public revelation of that magnitude — publicizing that a communist world power intercepted Hillary’s sensitive and top secret emails — would have derailed Hillary Clinton’s presidential hopes. Overnight. But it didn’t simply because it was concealed.

FBI bosses knew of the breach yet did nothing to investigate, seemingly trying to run out the clock on the alarming revelations to protect Hillary during her heated presidential campaign with Trump. So instead of investigating the hacking of Clinton’s server, FBI bosses sat quietly.

And did nothing to confirm the Chinese assets were linked to their government. Or assess the damage such a tremendous breach posed to national security. Did the Chinese government access Hillary’s emails? The FBI didn’t care enough to investigate at the risk of besmirching Clinton and further soiling her during the election.

Hundreds of top secret documents and even the president’s daily travel and security itineraries were on that server — and intercepted by a communist country — yet the FBI sat on the evidence. Likewise, all of Clinton’s and her inner circle’s outgoing emails were compromised as well, sources confirmed.

Even the Inspector General had tipped off the FBI — specifically Strzok — about the foreign breach. Still, no timely case was pursued

Enter the Dragon

The Strzok hearing was a lot of things, but boring was not one of them. Representative Gohmert made headlines with his comments about Strzok's infidelity that drew outrage from the dais and provided one of the more bizarre moments of the entire hearing, but it also obscured one of the more interesting revelations of the day. Not coincidentally, that revelation happened immediately before Gohmert pivoted to Strzok and Page's affair. I've never been a huge fan of the man, but he was a pit bull in that hearing and it's clear he was focused on one central issue. The clip is cued up to the relevant question, but the whole thing is worth the time. There's a lot that can be said for Strzok's body language and reaction during this segment, particularly when he starts to get help from the dais.

Listen carefully to what Gohmert is saying:

The IC Inspector General discovered an "anomaly" that allowed nearly all of SecState's Clinton's emails to go to  "an unauthorized source that was a foreign entity entirely unrelated to Russia." Gohmert, while doing an interview the next day, referred to that foreign entity specifically as an "enemy". An enemy entirely unrelated to Russia. There are more than a few nations that might fit that bill, but the likely culprit was China. And there's evidence to back that up, including what Lisa Page is apparently telling Congress behind closed doors (A).

First, let's really understand what Gohmert is describing from the classified section of the IG report. He's describing a private communication system established between then Secretary of State Clinton and President Obama. Why the two would need a private communication network other than to conceal information from both oversight and the public? There's no other reason and that alone is incredibly strange, not to mention dangerous considering the numerous bad actors out there who would love nothing more than access to highly classified information passed between the President and his SecState, including SAPs - the most sensitive of all our classified programs.

There must be an understanding that China's cyber-operations and capability equal, if not far exceed, that of the GRU and the Russian IC. China has been at the cutting edge of cyber warfare for over a decade. The cyber threat posed by China dwarfs that of any other nation state aside from our own. Starting in the late 1990s into 2004, Chinese PLA cyber warriors launched an operation that US officials would come to call "Titian Rain" (1) which (likely) resulted in China's theft of advanced systems and platforms from Lockheed Martin and other defense contractors. This was followed up by a series of sustained attacks on corporate targets in 2006, and unconfirmed reports Chinese actors attempted to hack both the McCain and Obama campaigns in 2008.

By the time Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are in office in 2009, the intelligence community as well as the general public were well aware of China's cyber intrusions, and STILL Obama and Hillary thought it was a good idea to have a private, off the grid (even from the defense capabilities of the USIC) comms and use those comes while in the territory of the most aggressive and technically capable adversary in the world. Was that simply hubris? Or something more insidious? I can only speculate as to the motives for the time being, but what we can see without question is that the entire nature of China's cyber-playbook changed after 2009 when they likely got inside Clinton's server. By mid 2009, following Clinton's first overseas trip as SecState, the pattern of these Chinese cyber intrusions became much more targeted and destructive.

Consider the following timeline:

* January 21, 2009: Clinton is confirmed as SecState. She had been running a private, unsecured server since 2008 - by unsecured I mean it was unencrypted until March 29,2009 (2). That means the server was an open door to even semi-competent technical actors.

* February 16-18, 2009: Clinton wraps up her Asian tour in China, where she intended on pressing them on human rights issues (3). According to the IG report, Clinton was communicating with President Obama on this server while in the territory of a foreign adversary (4). That adversary was unnamed in the public report, but it almost certainly was China and happened during this trip:

2JAhu.png

The information on that server, even before she was SecState, would have been a treasure trove for foreign intelligence services. It had all the Clinton Foundation information, campaign information, donor information, corporate partners (including Silicon Valley giants like Google and Yahoo) et al. But once HRC became SecState and the nation's most sensitive classified programs began flowing through this unsecured server, the information available to any technical actor capable of penetrating that server would be priceless - especially if you could penetrate the server and remain there, undetected for years. And it seems, that's exactly what the Chinese did.

Any American businessman who goes to China is briefed on the likelihood that their hotel rooms are under surveillance. It's an acknowledged fact of doing business in China that you must take extra precautions to protect your IP and electronic devices. There's no question that the Secretary of State was given these same warnings and instructions - and yet Clinton was openly communicating on an unencrypted server while inside Chinese territory. There's no doubt these communications were scooped up. There's no doubt those communications would expose the unsecured server to Chinese cyber assets - and be too juicy of a target for the PLA to pass up. So, they penetrated her server  and just sucked up everything that went through it for all four years of her tenure as SecState - every email, every email address, every document, every SAP... it would be the intelligence breach of a lifetime.

And what starts to happen in March of 2009? China changes their cyber tactics to a more "blunt force hacking" approach. Again, speculating here, but given the information we now have about the server and what was on it at the time, could that change in priorities be because the Chinese were suddenly flooded with hundreds of new contacts and email addresses of corporate and private interests communicating with the Secretary of State? Anyone communicating with the Clintons, their foundation, the DNC, or the State Department were leaving a digital trail for the Chinese to target.

Please take time to review the following timeline of Chinese cyber attacks compiled by the LA Times:

http://timelines.latimes.com/la-fg-china-cyber-disclosures-timeline/

Notice the first round of attacks (going by this "alternate" timeline) focused on Google and other Silicon Valley giants - all major donors to Clinton's 2008 campaign, not to mention their ties to both the MiC and USIC. The Google attack is of particular interest because we know both Clinton and Obama were communicating via Gmail using pseudonyms (5). The wave of Chinese cyber attacks crested in 2012 with the OPM hack - which exposed the security clearances and background checks of every government employee, including those working in the clandestine services (6). To this day we still don't know exactly how much the Chinese got from this hack, but the national security implications are staggering to consider.

Let's step back and examine an earlier attack in 2011. Why? Because it's probable that this was the point in our timeline when Clinton realized the full nature of the breach and what had been exposed and began to implement damage control. I'll explain...

In 2011, McAfree announces they've uncovered an operation called 'Shady Rat' (7) which launched from China and attacked multiple US and foreign corporate targets. The McAfree analyst who wrote the report on Shady Rat, a report which made him a household name in certain circles, was Dmitri Alperovich. The attack itself was not without controversy, as both Kaspersky CEO and founder of Kaspersky Labs said of McAfree's analysis:

Quote

"We conducted detailed analysis of the Shady Rat botnet and its related malware and can conclude that reality of the matter (especially technical specifics) differs greatly from the conlcusions made by Mr. Alperovitch ... We consider those conclusions to be largely unfounded and not a good measure of the real threat level ... (W)e cannot concede that the McAfree analyst was not aware of the groundlessness of the conclusions, leading us to being able to flag the report as alarmist due to its deliberate spreading of misrepresented information." (8)

Kaspersky was not alone in their questioning of Alperovitch's work. Symantec - the maker of Norton Anti-Virus software - shared Kaspersky's concerns. Despite his peers publicly stating Alperovitch was deliberately spreading misinformation about the nature of the Shady Rat attack, Dmitri was showered with praise by the media for his report. Starting with the Washington Post when Ellen Nakashima wrote a fawning story about Alperovitch's work (9) - remember that name, we'll be returning to Ellen.

Alperovitch leveraged the reputation he built off the back of Shady Rat to form his own company: CROWDSTRIKE. This began by first promoting Crowdsourced Reverse Engineering (CrowdRe), a free collaborate malware assessment tool. Dmitri was showered with praise, selected by MIT Technology Review as a "Young Innovator Under 35" and named by Foreign Policy as one of "The Top 100 Global Thinkers" in 2013 - largely on the reputation built in the media from his 2011 Shady Rat report.

In 2013, Crowdstrike secured $30 million in Series B funding from Accel Partners and Warbus Pinkus. A funny thing happens, Clinton connections to CrowdStrike's funding start popping up all over the place. Starting in 2012 when Bill Clinton's Sr Economic Adviser Bo Cutter joined Warbus Pinkus - an event lauded by Cheryl Mills (10). Chelsea Clinton and Accel partner Sonali De Rycker joined the board of InterActiveCorp in September of 2011 - a board of just 14 members which include IAC Chief Barry Diller and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner (11). The Clintons are connected directly to both sources of CrowdStrike's Series B funding... it's all a coincidence, I'm sure.

I speculate that it's possible that Shady Rat was penetrated for two specific reasons: 1) to build up a narrative that could be exploited for the personal benefit of Dmitri Alperovitch, George Kurtz, and Gregg Marston - the former McAfree executives who funded CrowdStrike, 2) To mask the Chinese penetration of the Clinton server. CrowdStrike was funded by companies with one degree of separation from Clinton and were quickly absorbed into the bowels of the DNC and its upper echelon, becoming their go-to cyber fixers. When one goes through Alperovitch's CV, the connections jump out: in addition to Shady Rat and the DCCC/DNC hacks, Alperovitch wrote the report into Operation Aurora in 2012 which was a Chinese hack into Google - which likely was aided by the Chinese penetration of the Clinton server (12).

This relationship really bore fruit in 2016 when the DCCC/DNC servers were "hacked".  When the DNC became aware of the hack in April, an emergency meeting was held between Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Amy Dacey, DNC's Technology Director Andrew Brown, and Michael Sussman a Perkins Coie lawyer. Sussman took control of the meeting, focusing on what he said were the three most important questions: what data was accessed, how was it done, how can it be stopped. Who did it was NOT one of the central questions at the time. It took four days for Sussman and the DNC to bring in an outside vendor to investigate. Shawn Henry at CrowdStrike was the first person contacted by Sussman.

The FBI initially wanted access to the server but the DNC refused and kicked them out of their offices when the request was made. Instead, after meeting with Shawn Henry (former FBI) and Alperovitch, the DNC and CrowdStrike devised a plan to make the story public themselves. Alperovitch prepared a technical report that fingered the Russians for the hack. When the report was completed, the DNC called in the Washington Post to do a front page story on the breach in June of 2016. The reporter called in to do the story was given full access to CrowdStrike and the DNC. Which reporter was it? You guessed it, Dmitri's old chum Ellen Nakashima (13). What are the odds that the exact same reporter at the WaPo who made Alperovitch famous, enabling him to break off from McAfree and set up CrowdStrike, would be the same reporter five years later given private access to the first big story of Alpervotich's own company? Crazy how closely nit this circle is, isn't it?

Sure does seem like good 'ol Dmitri shows up every time there's an investigation into Clinton connected cyber attacks. And while I admit this connection is held together by supposition until more of Lisa Page's testimony can be confirmed, but in light of the now known Chinese intrusion into her unencrypted (at the time) server it's rather compelling. And alarming. Adding more fuel to this speculation is the democrats on the Hill refusal to even acknowledge China as a cyber thread. Note what happened just this morning in a hearing on China:

Why does the DNC establishment want to keep our focus off China and on Russia? I posit it's because the Chinese penetration of Clinton's server is an open secret inside the DNC and they're doing all they can to keep the Russian narrative on life support, lest the true crimes be exposed.

And make no mistake, people have died because of this breach. The entire USIC HUMINT operation inside China was wiped out in the past few years (14). And while much of the blame for those killings is being foisted on Jerry Chun Shing Lee (who is involved and guilty) you cannot rule out the information was also taken from Clinton's servers, or from the OPM hack which also likely was aided by Chinese access into the Secretary of State's private and illegal communications.

There is much more to say about this subject, but this has gone on long enough for one post.

I'll be back later today with a Part Two: The Iran/Strzok connections.

Deep state holding back the President!

President Trump told CNBC he’s “not thrilled” the U.S. central bank under Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is continuing to raise interest rates, suggesting they may undercut his efforts to grow the economy.

“I don’t like all of this work that we’re putting into the economy and then I see rates going up,” he said.

Presidents have long declined to comment on the Fed’s actions, out of respect for the independence of the institution. CNBC released details of the Trump interview in a story on its website Thursday.

“Now I’m just saying the same thing that I would have said as a private citizen,” Trump said, according to CNBC. “So somebody would say, ‘Oh, maybe you shouldn’t say that as president. I couldn’t care less what they say, because my views haven’t changed.”
