This really sucks !!! They just keep getting rid of all of my favorite players... I don't want my team to resemble the Jets... Come on Rex keep some of the Bills on the roster...

The same roster that has sucked the last 15 years. The time for change is now.

Hop on, hop off, the choice is yours.

A very good epitaph for his contributions as a Bill. Being the best TE on a team with nothing but scrubs at the position, doesn't make a player good at his job.

WAAAY too harsh, IMHO. Chandler was a good, not great, player for Buffalo. You can be snarky, if you wish, but Chandler maximized his talent and produced for the Bills (without a legit QB)

Released

I was first lol

Whoa, I didn't see that coming. I knew we were going hard and hot after Clay, but I figured it was "both" not "either or".

Do they like Marquies Gray or Gragg that much?

Scott Chandler happens to have a cap number $120,000 higher than Fred Jackson this year. But, $600k of it is dead money.

The times they are a'changin'. Scott Chandler was a very good tight end in his time here. He made some huge plays over the years. Will never forget the shoveling in the end zone and the Vikings catch. Wish him all the best. Hopefully he can land somewhere with better quarterbacking.

Really?

Well, the Bills enter talks with a transition tag player. Said player's team announces a big money signing that has cap ramifications. The Bills allegedly are to go all in for Clay. Right after this, they release their starting TE for cap space.

I'm not saying they get Clay, I'm saying that they are probably pretty sure they will.

Rats. There have been several players who I thought would be great to see make the playoffs with the Bills when they finally do, and Chandler was one of them. Same with Freddy. I also felt that way about Fitz.

But alas, that's the way it goes. If they have a good plan to replace him and make us better, I'm not going to mourn.

I still think he is undervalued by the board. He will makes great compliment to a true #1. Carolina or Atlanta could really use him

They had their chance to pick him up last year, didn't they? But no one did.

I thought he was a decent player, but in part I must admit it's because our standards for TE play have become so low. Whaley has been pruning out the entire WR corp that was here under Nix/Gailey so I guess it's not a surprise that Chandler would be next?

He was only OK as a blocker. Big boy at 6'7" 260 lbs but I felt he played "smaller" than his size - he wasn't the guy you could toss it over his head and trust him to come down with it. He doesn't seem to have that "Big boy" ability to use his mass to barrel forward a few extra yards, taking bodies with him, but I felt he should get the benefit of the doubt that he might not be catching balls that are placed to allow that given the QB stable he's worked with.

But he was a good player who contributed here so I wish him well.

IMO this is a "cap cut" which has more to do with his salary or his perceived salary to value ratio.

Chandler has been the kind of good-effort, low-talent player that fans of bad teams love. He seems like a really nice guy from the interviews I've seen. He got downfield with speed measured by calendars, not stop watches, but he got open a lot, was a good target, and made several big plays over the course of a season. But he was not a threat to burn a defense, or someone who could take the heat off our WRs. There are much more athletic TEs out there, who can also get open and make big plays, but who can force a defense to adjust its coverage. No one adjusted to cover Chandler. Maybe that's why he got so open -- the other team lost interest.
