  1. I think it's a no brainer. If Newton is on the board they will sprint to the podium like they did last year. Newton will be the pick. Nix even said that he is comfortable with Newton as a franchise QB. Nix has met him several times and like him. They brought him into town to meet with Gailey face to face to make sure he is as comfortable with Newton as Nix is. As long as Chan agrees with Buddy, then Newton is the pick. If Newton goes to Carolina, then that is when things get crazy
  2. Best steak I've ever had in Buffalo was at Fiamma
  3. Me too. I think it is almost guaranteed that Buffalo takes either Newton or Gabbert at 3.
  4. Newton Gabbert Dareus We wll pick a QB at 3
  5. Dr D, I love this mock. I would be pretty happy with your choices
  6. I think that percentage should be much much closer to 100%
  7. Unless you own a rooming house and one of your Boarders is a racist.
  8. Theoretically, the Bills are in a no lose situation because they can select a top rated player at almost any position and have that position be a need positiion for the team. However, you can look at this another way. They may select a player at a position of need and pass up on several players who go on to be HOF qwuality. So even if they guy they pick is a solid starter for a decade, they lose because they did not get the HOFer.
  9. I completely disagree. I will be shocked if they don't take one of these 2 QBs at 3.
  10. And Lee Evans didn't have trouble getting open in 2006 when JP was throwing it. You don't forget how to get open. The offense has to be designed in such a way that the ball gets to your best WR. Ours hasn't been for a long time. Hopefully Gailey will fix that.
  11. That has been proven wrong so many times, its not even funny. In any given season, a team can win big with a dominant defense and a so-so offense. (Ravens) The reverse is also true. A team can win with a dominant Offense and a so-so defense. (Rams) But to win consistently, the best way is to have a premier QB (Brady, Manning, Montana) along with a good O-line, running game and a strong defense. We don't have any of those things right now.
  12. No. We need a QB, why would we trade out pick to another team who needs a QB and not just take the QB?
  13. EVERY team trade EVERY draft pick for an unproven commodity.
  14. I watched 3-4 of Locker's games this year and the 2 biggest things that stuck out to me were: 1.) He is really tough. He took a beating and kept getting up. 2.) his receivers were absolutely aweful. In one game, the one kid dropped the ball on 3 consecutive passes thrown to him. I'd be fine with Locker in rd2. He reminds me of a younger Fitz with more potential.
  15. fixing a faulty pump when you have a bad engine doesn't make sense either. How about doing both. Upgrade the QB position and upgrade the OL, DL, LB, etc.
  16. not to mention that our starting DT just played in the probowl. I realize Dareus is rated highly, but it would not be a smart pick for the Bills. QB, DE or LB at #3.
  17. You do realize they have more picks than just round 1 to address the D-line? They also have free agency. They also have last years draft picks who will theoritically be 1yr better. Why do people assume that if we don't draft a D-line in round one, we will not do anything at all to address the D ?
  18. players who were cut by their team are free to sign with a new team. That's why we brought Bob Sanders in for a visit.
  19. Good info. Thanks for posting. This is what I love about the draft. With guys like Newton, Locker and Mallet, some team is going to get lucky when one of these guys turns out to be elite. It's just a matter of guessing correctly which one.
  20. I agree with almost everything you've said here. There isn't guy coming out this year who is the clear cut, best player in the draft like Bradford was or like Luck would have been. I wish there was. It would make the Bills' task easier. They desperately need a franchise QB. I am not on the Fitz bandwagon. I think he's an OK stopgap, but they need an upgrade. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be an obvious answer, unless Gabbert really steps up and into that position. I think Newton dropped his status based on the combine and his interviews with teams (he reportedly does not have a strong football intellect and cannot break down plays on the chalkboard). I think teams will take a gamble on guys like Locker, Newton and Mallet but it would have to be in the second round or later for it to make sense. At this point, I am hoping for a stud DE in Rd1.
  21. I went to the 2006 draft when we picked Lee Evans and JP in Round 1. It was cool being there and seeing the whole production. But I really enjoy flipping between ESPN and NFLN to hear what the commentators are saying and you don't get any of that. It was a fun experience, but I don't think I would go again.
  22. I think they can but they would have to make an RFA offer to him that is higher than what he was making and that would be a big mistake.
