  1. Why do you assume Gabbert's score will be higher?
  2. Wow. Way to make things up. 1.) UF did not throw him out. He transfered when Tebow made his decision to stay for another year 2.) He did not steal anything. He purchased a stolen laptop and as far as I know, there is no proof that he knew it was stolen 3.) No proof has been found that Auburn paid Cam or his father any money. 4.) Superior program? Auburn has not been a superior program since Bo Jackson left almost 20 years ago. Get real. There are plenty of questions marks surrounding Newton and plenty of reasons not to want the Bills to take him at 3, but you shouldn't just make things up.
  3. This is a really interesting point. I had heard reference to this back during superbowl week. They were talking about how some of the premier QBs were already getting secret practice plan schedules and things like that from the coaches so they could keep the team together and in some semblance of preparedness should there be a lockout. As you mention, the stronger, more veteran team will probably have an advantage over teams like Cincy, Oakland and Buffalo. Hopefully Fitz can keep it together. This might be the one and only reason I would like to see the BIlls re-sign Whitner now. From what I understand, he has hosted weekly study sessions for the defensive players ever since he got here.
  4. Sam Bradford looks pretty good. Josh Freeman is progressing nicely. Just off the top of my head.
  5. Wait until the Pats lose Brady, they won't be able to "plug their rookies in and win games" We did the same thing when we had Kelly. Good teams can plugs a rookie or two in and be fine. Buffalo is not a good team. My original point to the OP was that I don't care if our #1 picks starts from day one. I care if he has a successful 10yr career as a Bill.
  6. If this is true, our future is bleak. Fitz is the short term future. He plays next year until Newton is ready to step in. Fitz is a placeholder until we find the QB of the future. Fitz is John Kitna
  7. As much as fans and media want it to be true, the draft is not intended to immediate impact. The draft is where team stock themselves with players whom they feel with have the greatest longterm impact. As far as the player they draft in the first round needing to start immediately, that is not true. It would be great if that happened, but that is not common for the Bills. They've had very high picks in the last several years and most did not start immediately, if ever (see Spiller, Maybin, McKelvin, etc)
  8. Thanks for posting this. What a nice video. I hope this kid does well, whether it is here or somewhere else.
  9. would be a great draft
  10. What makes any of the DL a "safer, surer pick" ? With the 3rd overall pick in the draft, teams need to find a franchise player. There is always a level of risk involved, but you also have to consider the possible reward. A franchise QB means a hell of a lot more to a franchise over a 10yr period than a DT. Unless you can have a 100% guaranteed "can't miss" DT with HOF potential, the Bills almost have to go QB with their pick. I think there are enough question marks about Fairley, Dareus and Bowers that it will almost force Buffalo's hand to go QB unless Newton is already off the board (which I am starting to think is very likely) and they are not sold on Gabbert.
  11. which is why you cannot judge things based on stats alone. Anybody who watches football and has at least half brain can see that Fitz is nowhere near as good as Kelly was.
  12. FITZ SUCKS. He just doesn't suck as bad as any of the other QBs we've had since Kelly. Anybody who is sold on Fitz being the longterm answer for the Bills at QB, please identify yourself so I can add you to my ignore list since you clearly no absolutely nothing about winning football. I don't understand how anybody can be surprised by this. The #1 priority for any NFL franchise to identify and acquire a franchise QB. We don't currently have one so it should not surprise anybody that Ralph wants to go find one.
  13. I replied to his "80% chance" tweet with: Well, atleast there's a 20% chance the Bills make the right move.
  14. I don't care. I just want them to be good at whatever defense they run.
  15. they openly talked about how much they liked Spiller last year and how they wanted a "waterbug" RB. Apparently nobody believed them until they raced to the podium and picked him. Maybe that was all part of their elaborate ruse so that team would really believe they were interested in Newton and be forced to pay a King's ransom for our pick. Or, just maybe, they like Newton and are strongly considering drafting him.
  16. My understanding is that he cannot be part of NFL ownership because of his ownership of Casinos
  17. just like they did last year when they said how much they liked Spiller how Chan wanted a 'waterbug" RB. They really fooled everyone with their trickery and misinformation.
  18. just saw a report on Buffalo Rumbings that there are 6 teams who have Cam Newton rated as the #1 overall prospect in the draft this year. Very interesting.
  19. 1.) Most of those were designed QB runs, not a lack of ability to read the defense on his part. He's doing what he's told to. 2.) Those runs accounted for over 1000 YDS. and last time I check rushing yards count just as much as passing yards. Everyone loves Vick for his highlight reel runs, but everyone seems to be bashing Newton for his.
  20. I agree with you. My entire point regarding Newton is that he has played well enough to show potential. The OP seems to consider him a "waste of time". I disagree. That's my whole point.
  21. He played in JUCO and dominated at that level. Then he played in arguably the toughest conference in major college football (SEC) and dominated. Then he played in the BCS national championship game and dominated (MVP). Not to mention that he won the heisman and by all accounts was the unquestioned team leader of the Tigers. It is a pretty impressive feat to win 2 championships in consecutive years. I would say that he is easily qualified to be drafted at some point and not "a total waste of time" You compare him to Vince Young (can you give me some reasons other than the obvious one?) I would compare him more to Steve Young.
  22. He started the previous year at Blinn Junior College and won the JUCO National Championship.
