If you don't already know what one is, I doubt that anyone can explain it to you.

Reasons to Not Pick a QB in Next Draft

This might be the single greatest, most intelligent post ever made on this site. -
Let the speculaiton begin - Cam Newton
Maddog69 replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess we'll see. It sucks that the labor strife will stop them from addressing any needs in Free agency before the draft and we have to debate this for 4 months with nothing else to discuss. -

How in the heck can you say this? Do you have any idea how to actually evaluate a pro prospect? Have you done any film study on him or any of the other prospects? Have you met with him? Interviewed friends, family, teammates, coaches, etc? Have you broken down game film with him? Yeah, me neither. Based on the 6-7 games I've seen him play, I am intrigued by his athleticism but I have no idea where he ranks in relation to the other QBs and any of the other pospects in the draft and for any of the people on this board to make the claim you did seems silly. -

several first, second and third round picks have been used on both lines recently (Maybin, Wood, Levitre, Troup, Carrington) Throwing picks at the lines doesn't necessarily fix the problem. But you cannot argue that they have not tried. The cannot afford to "just say no" to anybody in round 1. They should and will take the best available player, whether that be QB, OL, DL, LB or whatever. The only think I feel pretty confident about is that they won't take a RB (1: there are any that are that highly rated and 2. I think they learned from last years mistake) -

EXACTLY. All it takes is for one team to have a higher grade on a guy than everyone else and then the pundits scream "reach" while the team with the high grade on him is thrilled to have him. In the case of Newton, if the general consensus is that he is rated between 10-15 on most boards, what if that Bills automatically eliminate 5 of those players due to injury, character, drugs or whatever other reason? Then Newton could be #5 on their board. Would taking him at 3 be such a stretch? I am not saying I think he is worthy of the 3rd pick. I have no clue. Just saying that these rankings are very subjective. -
at 9, I would like to see them take whichever QB they have rated highest, but from your list I would choose Sherrod. Solidify the OL.

We'll Be Drafting Our Franchise QB This Year
Maddog69 replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did not mean to compare him to Kelly, just that the injuries listed were minor and were injuries that other QBs easily overcome. I don't know much about Ponder but would be fine if the Bills took him as a developmental QB sometime in Rd2 or later. -
trade down

any player they take with any pick in the draft is a question mark. The draft is a crap shoot. If their is a QB they like avaialble, take him. If there is a LB or DE or OT the like better, take him instead. We have plenty of needs to address. I remember Jim Kelly having these same issues and his career seemed to go OK. -
Bleacher latest Mock Draft looks ohh so good...
Maddog69 replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always laugh when I see the shots at Bledsoe. The guy had an outstanding career and put up a ton of yards, TDs and wins. No, he was not mobile and his tenure here was at the end of his career so it was less than stellar. But if we could get Mallett and he could have a career anywhere close to Bledsoe, I am all for it. -
That is exactly what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread

I don't recall Wood's comment about Maybin. Didn't it have to do with his hold out?
-
The point of this whole argument is that Wood is smart enough to realize that he should keep his mouth shut atleast until he earns the right to make undefendably boastfyul statements. Spiller should be smart enough to realize that the majority of the fanbase sees him as a disappointment at this point and that he should work hard to prove that he was worthy of being a top 10 pick before making idiotic statements such as this.

Corey Liuget declares for 2011 NFL draft
Maddog69 replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have Kyle Williams and Torell Troup on the roster, I don't see a high pick being used on a DT. -
This will one of the few games that I will be rooting for the Pats. I hope they kick the crap out of the Jets. The Jets are a bunch of loud mouth idiots. They've accomplished nothing yet run their mouths as if they have. My prediction is that Brady will be pointing Cromartie's way several times this week as he celebrates TD's at Cromartie's expense.

I saw a lot of comments from sports writers (like Jason Whitlock and Jay Glazer) stating that Fairley needs a ton of work on technique. They said he comes out of his stances too high and would get eaten alive by NFL linemen.
-
I agree. I think he will end up being the #1 overall pick in the draft. But if not and if the Bills pass on him at 3, I will be very disappointed and I think the Billa will regret it.
-
I disagree. This happens all the time. Jauron,Crennel, Weis, Mularkey, Wade Phillips, Greg Williams, Mike Nolan, Jim Fassel, Jim Haslett. Just to name a few. The league is littered with guys with head coaching experience.

Picking a QB at 3 - He better be starting
Maddog69 replied to MikeSpeed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as Gailey himself said, the draft is not about 1 yr. It is about long term upgrades. If they take a QB at 3 and he sits for a year behind FItz, thats fine as long as he eventually becomes a great QB. Keep in mind, we have drafted in the top 11 picks for most of the last decade and most of those picks did not start immediately and produce anything. -
Fitz's 2011 stats compared to the Big Three
Maddog69 replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this is a good point. Fitz seemed to turn the ball over or failed to extend drives too many times in the 4th quarter when games were on the line. -
Fitz's 2011 stats compared to the Big Three
Maddog69 replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do any of you actually watch the games or do you just look for stats to make idiotic comparisons? Fitz's accuracy is terrible. Even when he makes a completion, the ball is generally not in a position for the receiver to make extra yardage. Fitz's decision making is right on. He reads the defense and makes the right throw, but the positoning on the throws is almost never perfectly on target. I like Fitz. I think he is decent. Much better than we've had in years. But please stop the comparisons to the elite QBs in the game today and to Jim Kelly and the elite QBs of the past. Anybody who watches football can easily see that Fitz does not compare to any of them. -
Best 2 round mock draft scenario i've seen.
Maddog69 replied to joejoebills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Newton and then Heyward would be the ideal top 2 picks for me. I just don't see Heyward being there for us in Rd2 though. -
I would do that trade in a minute
