  1. North Buff, yours is a very thoughtful response. The problem is that you are trying to use rational arguments with people who actively seek out mis-information, and wear the rejection of science and reason as a badge of honor. As a kid we learned about, 'The Dark Ages' and 'The Enlightenment.' My young self, even going to Catholic school, could never imagine people aligning themselves with the dark ages... with pride, no less... but here we are.

  6. It's an absolute travesty that so little of this band's early live stuff was documented. This is kind of a goofy song on the surface, but what an amazing showcase for a live performance. Not saying this outpaces the peak of My Generation off 'Live at Leeds', but as one performance from one night of an almost unknown song... holy hedes, what a frickin live band:

  9. This is not a head-scratcher. Sure, quick and simple- pass a law requiring all portions to be within a minimum and maximum percentage of x miles of an agreed upon central district point.   10. Correct, we have to start somewhere. I'm all for what you proposed earlier, but nothing can realistically change as long as districts are drawn in such a way to allow the radicals on both sides to, A. Get voted in, and B. Have virtually unchallengeable job security. Gerrymandering is the root of that problem, and the incumbents sure as heck aren't going to voluntarily correct it. So that leaves it to us to either resist all 'feel-good' urges and stop voting the fringe idiots into power, or we need a 3rd, moderate, party to really take hold. It's a steep ***** mountain for a nation accustomed to Coke vs. Pepsi.

  14. I guess this is a 'YIL'... So yesterday I found our (mostly indoor) male cat at the back door. He only goes out supervised for now (adolescent/siamese/fetches better than our dog/awesome cat!!), - I knew the only way he could be there was by jumping off our second story roof... which made me nervous until I looked up 'how far can a cat fall' maybe I'm the last person on the planet to know this, but apparently the odds are in a cat's favor to survive a fall from ANY height- as long as they have oxygen. Their terminal velocity is about 60 MPH, and if they land on a reasonable, non-jagged surface, their bodies stand a decent chance of absorbing the impact.

Exercise those lima beans, it's not just a great volleyball song with a touching narrative, it's also the soundtrack to one of the most defining action movie sequences in history!
  16. The Serpent on Netflix is Very well done... gotta be able to handle some super-creepy, based on a true-story, stuff. good 70's feel, great writing/acting/soundtrack. Jenna Whatsherbucket is supercute and apparently the true story had to be tamed down a bit, as the creators felt it was too weird to be believable.

  20. On your first point, I can't seem to find the part about all men with current ID cards, can you? "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." If there is an accusation of fraud, it is incumbent upon the accuser to prove it, at least in the America I think I used to know... so where is any frickin' proof?? All I see are a bunch of pinata bats missing their mark. On Russian collusion, it's just mind-numbing that a (formerly) sitting President would not lead the charge to investigate potential influence by a foreign, hostile, nation. I guess that's acceptable to you...
