Marrone yells to Russ "go ahead and fire me"
sjjr replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brandon is clearly very good at marketing. Since he's taken over in the public eye, the Bills have been younger, hipper and easier to sell. He's sold change and done a great job. Whaley is a great scout and becoming a great gm. Loved this draft and think he's been a part of some very good drafts already in Buffalo. His trade for Jerry Hughes was great. With that said, they need to let Marrone run the show on the field and in the locker room. It's not time to sell or scout, its time to win games. They hired Marrone to run the show and the buck needs to stop with him. Who plays, how players are used or disciplined is his decision. If they have questions, ask later behind closed doors. He shouldn't have to worry about this board or what any other media source thinks. Marrone just needs to win and let Brandon sell it. Marrone turned Syracuse around by cutting the crap and getting good football players to play hard everyday for him. He needs to the same now and can do it if people would just leave him alone. If we want to win then let the man do his job. It's hard to know what the fight was over but can imagine Orton might have something to do with it. Orton has always been a guy peeking over the starters shoulder and not content unless he's starting. Manuel needs time to develop and now each mistake he makes, fans will scream for Orton. Marrone knows that is not the formula for team unity, winning now or later. Still think this is a 9-7 team if they let Marrone continue on the path he set. Really could care less what he calls himself if he wins. -
Week 1: Bills vs Bears prediction & AFCE teams
sjjr replied to BillsFan-4-Ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bears 20-17....tight game where the Bears have more yards but more turnovers too. The Bills D-Line should get pressure on Cutler and shut down the run. The Bills offense will do enough to hang around all day but not be able to pull it out late on the road. NE 20-17 over Miami. Tight Game. NYJ 16-13 over Oak. -
What are you most looking forward to this year?
sjjr replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills showing progress this season and finally getting out of this 14 year rut. -
Great analysis. Just proves that EJ needs another 10 starts before any decisions about him can be made. Flacco's stats are similar but he played with a great defense and a franchise that consistently won before he got there. Hard to expect EJ to win games like Flacco did right away. Let's see what he's got Sunday.

He's a 5 star recruit with all of the tools NFL scouts and coaches look for. At Florida State, he couldn't meet the lofty expectations but he won a lot of games and an ACC championship. He needs to put it together and can win in the NFL too. He needs to put all of the parts together and produce on the field but he needs time to do that. All young QBs in the NFL will have ups and downs...
-
With the moves they've made in the last week, the Bills are making it clear to EJ that he has about 10 starts (20 career total) to get it right. They want to win now and if they feel like EJ is holding them back, Orton will go in. I still think EJ gives them the best chance to win.

20-17 Bears....Jeffrey and Marshall will be tough on outside. Should be a real tight game and the Bills should be able to run for some yards.

Talent Evaluation...The real problem all these years...
sjjr replied to turbobike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Between 2002-2010 the Bills missed a lot in the draft. Since then, they've been solid and have a team that is very talented but young. EJ is exactly that and there will be ups and downs, but have to see this thing through. If this time doesn't win 8 or 9 games this season, it won't be because of talent. -
Oh boy...this is not a good sign
-
The Bears had one of worst run defenses in the league last year and should be concerned about stopping the run. They just cut Adrian Wilson, their best run stuffing safety. Probably they will commit 8 guys to the box and press receivers, forcing the EJ to make sideline throws and the young receivers to beat the press. As long as the Bills can stay in reasonable down and distances, they should be alright. Seems like a good matchup for them.

What this team needs now. Power running game
sjjr replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree and it should be what we see most of the season. It's a huge offensive line with a stable of rbs built to wear teams down. The pace should vary based on matchups. EJ is best in play action. -
Cutler annoyed with Bills’ signing of QB Jordan Palmer
sjjr replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Palmer for sure has a lot of info on what the Bears D is game planning. Belichek has been doing this kind of stuff to the Bills for years....great move. -
Let's revisit this in January...

The Bills played ugly last night but the biggest problem was the whistle to me. Spiller had a couple of big runs and the Bills were driving after falling behind 7-0 and then got consecutive penalties called, putting them in 3rd and 40. Then Moorman had a terrible punt and the momentum went the Bucs way. The fumble recovery td was an incorrect call and the Evans TD was aided by an "illegal contact" penalty to extend the drive on a third down. The Bucs had the whistle all night. The O-line struggled with the Bucs speed and the playcalling was not good early. They needed to just run at those guys. Still would like to see S.Henderson at LT, Glenn at LG, Wood, C.Richardson and Pears or Kouiandijo at RT. Nickel pass defense is an issue. The first td was a long 3rd down play where Spikes got caught one on one with D.Martin. Spikes is two down LB and should not be out there in that situation. They miss Kiko and have to get this figured out or Vereen will be slicing them up the same way when the Pats come in. This team has talent. They are going to struggle at times because they are young and figuring it out everywhere in the organization. Things are headed in the right direction though....

Kyle Williams...it's boom or bust with him shooting gaps. They have been perennially one of the worst run defenses with him in the middle every year.

Who Is Your Most Underrated Bill Past Or Present ?
sjjr replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kenneth Davis is a good pick. How about Flutie...if he would have started in that playoff game instead of Rob Johnson, that team would have won easily against Tennessee and maybe could have made a superbowl run. He just never really got a real shot to be the starter. If they win that playoff game, the last 15 years might have gone differently. -
WVAU TV Marcel Dareus arrested-edit-again
sjjr replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may need to go now, but maybe a babysitter is in order like the Cowboys did with D.Bryant. In any case, Bills need to look to draft some depth in the middle rounds of next years draft at D-Line. Have Dareus doing this stuff and K.Williams getting older. -
CJ Spillers increased role in offense?
sjjr replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have to think they'll use him like the Saints used Reggie Bush and then Sproles or like SU used Tyson Gulley. Just wish he had better hands out of the backfield. Fred at this stage of his career might be the power back like Deuce McAllister was or Jerome Smith was for SU. Bryce Brown could get the most carries really and be the most complete back if he wants it. He's got a lot of talent. -
AFC East Winner or When will Brady decline?
sjjr replied to Chas56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Pats have gone to a power run offense for a reason...they also drafted Mallett and Garoppollo...Brady best asset is his experience and right arm. The Bills gave them fits in the opener last year and really should have won the game. Both games should be close this year...it's time for the Bills to take a step forward. -
not to menton Bortles had 5-6 easy completions per game with bubble screens in his offense at UCF. EJ played in a very pro style offense at FSU where he had to read coverages and throw down the field. EJ dropped his junior and senior seasons because of some bad tape against Florida probably.

Bills Sign Cockrell, Johnson, and Henderson
sjjr replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Henderson, Richardson and Kouiandijo work out, the Bills would have the biggest O-Line in the league. -
Done with espn... EJ will weigh on his success but this trade was about Sammy. He'll be the best route runner, have the best hands, and be the most explosive receiver the Bills have. He'll demand attention from defenses each week that will make everyone elses job easier. The Bills have quietly built a young, talented roster that can compete with anybody. The Pats have been a great dynasty but all things must come to an end.
-
EJ is a big, athletic, smart guy who has huge upside if he can put it all together. I'm glad to see he's working and the Bills are determined to give him a shot. Not fair to compare his upside to guys like Trent or Fitz. It seemed like he really struggled with accuracy outside the hashmarks last season. It looked like his footwork wasn't good enough to set up and throw accurately to the sideline, especially on 10yd comebacks. He's got to be able to hit these. Ball security is nothing new for him. This was one of the biggest knocks on him coming out of High School and College. If the Bills can run the ball against 7 man fronts, EJ can be successful and there is no doubt he'll show improvement in yr 2. He's got to use his legs but be smart about it and stay healthy...

Offense: Odell Beckham Jr--Sammy could be right there Defense: Jadaveon Clowney
-
If Sammy is getting double teamed, then Woods and others will have 1 on 1 matchups. It also probably means there will be 7 guys or less in the box. With this huge offensive line, they have to be able to get 4+ yds per carry in this scenario.
