  1. Tyrod Taylor showed everything that a winning starting QB in the NFL needs to last night. His poise and decision on 3rd down in particular was impressive and that will be crucial to the Bills being successful this season. It's less about EJ and more about how good Tyrod Taylor is now. EJ didn't look bad last night and showed character but still made some mistakes in key moments that more times than not he'll pay for. He does deserve some game time with the 1st team and should stay on the roster as a 2nd or 3rd string. If Taylor struggles during the season either EJ or Cassell have to be ready.
  2. Have to pay the guy, he's one of the elite interior linemen. Maybe give him more money, but less guaranteed with some incentives because he's shown in the past some bad characteristics after he gets paid.
  3. Well Wood is an average NFL Center and Shelton is already an above average run stuffing nose tackle that probably will develop into one of the best in the league at his position. Everytime Wood has faced a top 10 defensive tackle in the last few seasons, he's looked bad. Get ready to see Suh wreak havoc twice this season but at least Wilfork won't do it anymore. The Bills need to look to upgrade here at some point.
  4. It's just too bad. He's a guy with all of the tools but just can't seem to put them together. This camp should have been where he took a step forward in a system that would seem perfect for him but clearly he hasn't. He was overdrafted clearly and thrust into some tough spots but in the end, either you have it or you don't and it looks like this kid just doesn't. He's got another week or two to prove to everyone what he can do but after this camp, even his biggest supporters have left his side. Go Bills
  5. Let's hope they can get some solid play this season and one steps up to play some winning football. Whoever is the QB doesn't need to be spectacular, just play smart, not turn the ball over and get some timely 3rd down conversions. Roman and Rex both have won a lot of football games with average to below average QB play.
  6. He's a good player when on the field but its going to be hard for him to be there between suspensions and addictions. The Bills are strong at that position. They also have taken plenty of chances and characters in the locker room. Maybe he can catch on with a team desperate for some pass rush.
  7. The Dolphins seem high, maybe overvaluing O.Vernon is the problem. Rams are good and so are Seahawks because of their depth and versatility but none of these D-lines have two equally dangerous edge rushers like the Bills with Hughes and Mario. Add an elite interior rusher in Dareus with K.Williams and hard to argue anyone else is better. Go Bills
  8. The Bills must believe in him after trading Kiko and letting Spikes walk. He's not flashy but is tough, instinctive and very consistent. Should be a solid piece of a good D for a long time.
  9. This should be the year Gilmore puts himself among the elite corners in the league. Not a surprise, but a breakout year. Biggest surprise might be Duke Williams as the big hitter in the secondary.
  10. A successful season has to be... 1. Playoff appearance 2. At least a split with the Patriots and at least 3 wins in division If EJ can show the ability to be the QB of the future along with some other young players rising to be the nucleus of this franchise then that also would be a good sign for the overall direction of things but shouldn't define the success of this season.
  11. I think you're right about people being upset he was taken in the 1st round. Two points on that though....first is, not his fault where he was taken. I mean if the guy had a great draft process then credit to him because by all accounts, he was a project and that has been confirmed so far. Second, the Bills did trade down and get extra picks before getting him at 16. Also, we weren't there in the interview process so hard to confirm or not confirm what was said about EJ. What we do know is that a head coach was brought in who loves to run the ball and play D. An OC was brought in that has had previous success with a guy similar to EJ's skillset. EJ flourishes with a solid run game that he can use play action from and look over defenses, making throws downfield. The fact is, they made an effort to bring a system in that fits their former first round pick's strengths. Cassell is a journeyman and solid if needed to play. This is Tyrod Taylor's shot and he'll give it his all no doubt over the next few months. Make no mistake though, this is about EJ developing into the player they want him to be and have to think a lot of people at One Bills Drive want and believe in this.
  12. They have to re-sign Dareus and Gilmore which will be big numbers and he'll be a FA in 2016....maybe if Kouiandijo can man RT, they deal him for a draft pick in the preseason
  13. Like Tyrod Taylor, seems like a very good #2 option. So does Cassel. Simms seems like a good camp arm. The NFL is a business and it would be shocking if the Bills cut a former 1st round pick. EJ has a great attitude by all accounts, is a team guy, has shown the ability to learn and adapt while also having the size, arm strength and mobility ideal for the position. All of that coupled with the fact they would have to pay him a lot of money to hit the street just seems like a drastic move that wouldn't fit. I'm not sure what EJ did or didn't do for some of the people that are so strongly against him but he is the front runner whether people like it or not and he isn't going anywhere in all likelihood. I hope he succeeds and gives the Bills a QB of the future.
  14. EJ is at his best with a solid running game to work with and when he use play action to look over the defense and make throws down the field or use his legs to get first downs. He's shown he can throw a pretty deep ball along with some solid seam passes. This offense would seem to be perfect for him with Roman and Rex. If all 3 are even, have to believe he'll get the nod and really he should win the competition. He clearly played tentatively in his first 14 starts because he was asked not to lose games. The first game he could have been blamed with (Texans) he was pulled. To me though, if the Bills could have run the ball against two weak run Ds (Chargers and Texans) then they win both of those games easily. Not his fault. He'll be fine and it doesn't matter what anyone says now.
  15. Good move for Graham at this point of his career. He can provide depth at both S and CB while playing at a high level on special teams. Have to see what happens with guys like Cockrell, Meeks and R.Brooks
  16. ahhh...the speculative media reports in the dead spot in NFL offseason...The Bills have made their decisions with QB and have 3 guys competing with EJ being the favorite. We'll see in July and August...
  17. these reporters just have to find something to talk about and get us to read...nobody knows how EJ will turn out but we do know he's going to get a shot to show he should be the guy over the next few months and that's it for today. Good Luck to him and hope he gets to throw this crap back in the face of all of these reporters and critics.
  18. Good Luck to EJ...I think he'll be just fine and a big part of the Bills success over the next several years
  19. He's got great talent and can be very versatile. Have to hope he can develop into a Sammy Morris type of player for the next several years.
  20. Have to see if Henderson challenges Glenn at LT. Also have to see how Kouiandijo develops this offseason. Maybe cut C.Williams in camp. LT-S.Henderson/C.Glenn LG-C.Glenn/Incognito/C.Williams C-E.Wood/J.Miller RG-Incognito/J.Miller/Richardson RT-Kouiandijo Then in 16, maybe Glenn moves on and the bookends become Henderson and Kouiandijo. Maybe Miller can challenge Wood at center in the future too.
  21. Darby...he has as high of a ceiling as any db in this draft, the athletic ability to run with any receiver in the league and fits what Rex is looking for in a corner. He'll take a year to develop and the plan will be for him to take over for mckelvin. The expectation should be he'll be an upgrade at that position in 2016 and play across from Gilmore for years to come. Love the pick.
  22. Karlos Williams-RB-FSU--can add depth, special teams and upside Darius Kilgo-DL-Maryland-can add depth and fits well with ability to take on blocks Gabe Wright-DL-Auburn--can play a couple of different spots along the line and rush the passer Chris Dunkley-DB-USF-return ability, special teams and upside
  23. Buddy Nix turned this franchise around by stockpiling talent through the draft over several years. When he took over the Bills had a lack of young talent at just about every key position. He got back to basics and built a football team from the ground up as he promised. The upward trend the Bills are on over the last year or two has been fueled by his draft picks and signings. He planted the seeds of future success. Nothing against Whaley, Rex or the Pegulas because they are set to take this team toward success but they are harvesting the fruits of Buddy's labor. It's key they continue to draft well to maintain success in the future.
  24. If Goldman is there, has to be the pick. Can't see him being there though, so Ronald Darby-CB-FSU
  25. They might be getting to know him well because they think the Jets will take him. They can get a full scouting report on him by doing this and also make the Jets overvalue him and trade up early on tonight.
