Houston Texans Game - EJ Manuel
sjjr replied to Hot Buffalo Wings's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He just needs to go and take his place as a starting NFL QB when he gets his shot. "Let it rip" as he said. No doubt he has great upside but needs to be developed with patience. -
Package Manual in a trade offer to move up to 1st round
sjjr replied to Sweet Lou's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's see what the kid has the rest of the season before giving up on him. He's very young, only had 14 starts and has been effective at times. -
I don't know, I saw Orton put some bad passes out there against the Dolphins. One time he lobbed a pass running Sammy into 2 guys and he just pulled up. That was about as bad as any throw I've seen from either Manuel or him this season. The body language of the receivers in the second half was as bad as at any time with Manuel. Orton can't move and teams are adapting to what he does. Whether it's Manuel or Orton, the Bills need to find a running game and get into max protection more to let their receivers work down field off play action. The timing on short passes just isn't there enough. Get Mike Williams on the field and let the guy win on the outside like he's done throughout his career. Get EJ out there and see what he's got. He gives them the best chance to win and it doesn't matter how it looks to us on tv. We'll be happy with wins... Go Bills.

It's not rigged but the calls definitely meant to sway games to keep them close, help more marketable teams/players succeed and generally give the home team advantages in key moments. It's not just the Bills...watch any game this weekend and there will be questionable calls made at critical moments that will change the game. We aren't just complaining during Bills losses either...look at that Lions game. That might be the worst of the season. Remember the famous holding flag picked up in the Chicago game with K.Williams that allowed Chicago to tie late. With all of that said....if you're really good, you win games more weeks than not. The Bills haven't been good enough in a long time to win with a few things going against them.

I thought EJ was the first thrown under the bus during the pre-season and then in week 4. Now that the offense is averaging less points per game, relying on one player (Watkins) and allowing more sacks while still having the same outcome on the field (500 football)...someone else has to go under the bus. My vote is for whoever made the call to sign and then play Orton.

Get him back in there....at worst he gets 6 more starts and know if he's improving or not. Maybe he can give them a spark though too....

Bills matchup well the Dolphins. The D-Line should dominate, especially with Albert out now. The offense just can't lose the game and it would be nice to see the run game do something....Bills 27-10

For The First Time In A Long Time, We're Good
sjjr replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the best, most talented team we've seen since the near playoff team in 2004 and probably more like 1999. The defense is there....The offense has got to find some consistency, especially in the red zone or will not be able to win enough games to make the playoffs. This is a must win against the Dolphins. Go Bills! -
Thought Orton played his best football of the season through 3 quarters....the problem was him and the rest of the team played their worst football in the 4th quarter. This offense still can't figure it out in the red zone.....His 4 worst throws in the game came when they needed it most. With that said, not time to pull him yet. They must win in Miami now and if they don't then it might be time for EJ, who may give them the best chance to win anyway in the cold weather down the stretch...

Please tell me why Kyle Orton is not the long term answer ?
sjjr replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's see how he plays over the next few games before getting too excited. He's played good football during stretches of his career and then he's played some bad football too. Statistically, he's played much better in 4 games with the Bills than he has throughout his career. He's a 4th Rd pick that has been beaten out by Tebow and Rex Grossman in his career. It's hard to think he'll suddenly become a pro-bowl QB but maybe he can be a Trent Dilfer kind of guy at this stage of his career. -
Hughes is going to probably get close to $10 million per season and Dareus would be higher than that. With Mario and Kyle, that is a lot on the defensive line but is also probably the best front 4 in the game right now. They have to keep these guys together through 2018 anyway..

They didn't have to do much today. Thought Hackett called a conservative game and let the Jet's offense implode. Nothing wrong with him today...

This offense is changing with Orton. It has Sammy and the receivers happy. From what I can see, fans are happy too because of more passing. He's going to turn the ball over more and take more sacks without a doubt. The Bills defense has been bailing him out and he's been finding ways to win late in 2 of 3 games so far. We'll know about a month from now whether this was the right decision. If this team doesn't make the playoffs then it was a bad decision and the person/people responsible need to pay for it. This the NFL and that's how it works. EJ is being robbed of development. Either way, let's move onto something else rather supposing who is better...Orton is the QB now, let's get behind him and see if the Bills can make the playoffs. Go Bills.

active players who are candidates for "best ever"
sjjr replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
P.Manning has to be in the discussion and there will always be talk of Brady too as a rival. JJ Watt and Megatron both have chances to be the greatest at their positions but have a lot of work to do. -
EJ is a good guy with a great attitude. We should all be rooting for him.
-
Have to think it will be a tight, defensive game and the winner will be the QB who makes less mistakes. It will be interesting to watch Sammy against Miliner.

He's gotten a lot better at playing the ball over the last couple of seasons and might even be a ballhawk. Will he cover Harvin this week?

The Myth of Kyle Orton is a turnover machine
sjjr replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm happy they're 4-3 at this point of the season and got the win yesterday. A win is a win....but they almost handed it over to a team in total disarray with a rookie QB making his 1st start on the road. The fact is, the Bills have won 2 games with Orton and lost 1 yes but both wins came on the last play of the game after playing an otherwise very poor offensive game. They've lost the TO battle in 2 of the 3 games (totally non Marrone football) and teams have gotten 23 pts from those turnovers. The offense has no identity now.... If they can keep winning this way then great, but I was totally frustrated up until 4th and 22 yesterday. I wouldn't say people who "hate" on Orton and want EJ in aren't fans. In my case, I do think he gives them a better chance to win with this team. The real disappointment though is after 15 yrs of being awful, I finally believed this franchise had figured it out with a long term solution at QB to grow with this young, talented team they've been building since 2010. By signing Orton and then pulling the plug on EJ after just 14 starts, they threw that hope in the garbage. If EJ makes it now, it's on him. Either way, hope they keep winning now.... Go Bills -
When he gets hot, he looks like a top 100 pick. When he's cold and turning the ball over, he looks like he should be benched. There are better prospects out there that will be available in rds 4-7.

Austin Davis is going to be a very good QB---undrafted rookie
sjjr replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Austin Davis is a nice story but his lack of elite tools showed as the 49ers picked on what the Rams we're doing. He should be a solid #2 for somebody at least. When EJ was drafted, most scouts and scouting reports said he needed development and there would be struggles if he hit the field early. He's shown improvement but he's definitely a work in progress. My frustration is the Bills drafted a project, pledged their faith in developing him and his future as the franchise QB...then a few days before the season bring in a guy like Orton to rattle the team, EJ and fans. The Bills game plan is to play conservatively for the first three quarters and go out and win the game in the 4th qtr with Orton or EJ. To me EJ runs that gameplan better because he's more careful with the football. He's also a much better runner and helps the run game. Stats back that up this season. All people are remembering is probably his worst game as a pro against Houston. He accounted for 6 TDs and only 3 turnovers in 4 games. He was 2-2. He's a kid and has ups and downs. All young QBs do. I don't know if he's the franchise QB going forward but I strongly believe he deserves a handful of starts yet before anyone passes judgement on him. -
Bills 24-17 Lacy ran all over these guys a few weeks ago and have to think the Bills offensive line is as good as the Packers. Between Dixon and Fred, they can run with power. As the Vikes safeties come up, should open some big shots down the field for Sammy and Goodwin. The Bills D should hold up against the run but Bridgewater is a good player and can make some plays already. As always turnovers are key but the Bills should be able to beat the Vikings at home right now or it would be a bad sign....

If the Bills are all in on winning....could they ask C.Glenn to kick inside finally and play LG? They could get S.Henderson at LT, Glenn LG, Wood C, C.Richardson at RG and Hairston at RT. That seems to be their best five linemen and would have Pears and Urbick ready off the bench.

Classic Mike Schopp... cuts off Terry Peugla...
sjjr replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schopp has been bad for years. Can they at least get someone else to do the Bills post game shows?? -
Nobody talked about JJ Watt going at EJ's knee did they. Gronk is a great player but has always had injury issues ever since college, that's why he was a second rd pick. If they hit him high, they want to cause a concussion, low they want his knees. Defensive players can't win with the media anymore.
