  1. Very much worth the top 10 pick. Imagine what he would be doing if he played for the Patriots or Saints.
  2. EJ never had a fair shake in Buffalo. For being a 1st round pick, the team never gave him a chance to really develop. He should have been given 2+ years and more than 20 starts without having some veteran breathing down his neck. Orton was here to play, not develop EJ. But that is what dysfunctional, losing franchises do most of the time. Unfortunately for Bills fans and EJ that time has past. Let's hope the Bills learn from that and develop Josh Allen the right way with McDermott/Daboll and Beane.
  3. Rex promised to win right away and the roster was built to win right away as soon as he arrived. He didn't win enough. McDermott promised to win long term and build the roster that way. Beane is building the roster that way but that also includes some days like yesterday. Have to remember that Rex and Whaley made roster decisions and gave contracts to players that ended up not performing. The last two seasons have been about McDermott and Beane unloading those contracts and working through the dead cap to restructure the roster. With that said, this has to be worse than anyone thought it would be.
  4. Was the best cover corner on Alabama for most of the season. Should have a good chance at nickel.
  5. A lot more running and downfield throws then. Lower percentage throws. A lot more QBs were below 60% then. Today, its hard to find a good starting NFL QB that had less than a 60% completion pct in college (M.Stafford, J.Cutler, T.Taylor). Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen will be fighting the percentages to be successful starting QBs in the NFL.
  6. Only can trade up for Darnold or maybe Rosen if they love him and believe they can handle him. If not, just sit back and get a guy to lead the defense for the future at 12 like Vanderesch or R.Smith then M.Rudolph at 22. Should get some great value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds on OL and DL.
  7. MJ Stewart - DB - UNC Avonte Maddox - CB - Pitt Colby Gossett - OG - App. State Chandon Sullivan - CB - Ga State Dee Delaney - CB - Miami (Citadel) Kentavius Street - DL -NCSU Skai Moore - LB - South Carolina Oren Burkes - LB - Vanderbilt Jamil Demby - OT - Maine The 2nd and 3rd rounds could have some really good players available for the Bills. Bilal Nichols - DL - Delaware Josey Jewell - LB - Iowa Dorance Armstrong - DE - Kansas Austin Corbett - OL - Nevada DJ Chark - WR - LSU Dante Pettis - WR - Washington BJ Hill - DT - NCSU Fred Warner - LB - BYU
  8. The Falcons also took Favre in the 2nd round to develop. Relatively low risk. Trading up for QB project like Allen would be very risky with the cost involved.
  9. Saquon Barkley, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Bradley Chubb are three biggest difference makers in the draft before the QBs.
  10. If can trade up and get Darnold then get it done. If not then sit with picks and take L.Vanderesch at 12 and M.Rudolph at 22. Get interior offensive (Ragnow, Corbett, J.Daniels, T.Crosby) and defensive linemen (B.Hill, B.Nichols, J.Jones, D.Senat) in the 2nd-3rd rounds along with some other good players (R.Penny, D.Chark, D.Armstrong, F.Warner, R.Freeman) that can develop into quality starters in the future.
  11. Freeman would be a great fit in the middle rounds. Other guys that might fit: Josh Adams (ND) N.Chubb (UGA) D.Richard (Ariz St) R.Penny (SDSU) It looks like Michel will be gone in the first 50 picks and that's too high for the Bills to select a RB this draft.
  12. Zay Jones will be a good player and Benjamin is solid. Need to upgrade the deep speed threat (D.Thompson) and returner (B.Tate) probably. A few guys who could do both and be upgrades in the draft probably... C.Kirk (Texas A&M) DJ Chark (LSU) D.Pettis (Washington) D.Fountain (N.Iowa) B.Pringle (KSU)
  13. Have to expect the Bills to draft 5-6 players who will contribute a lot as rookies and build the backbone of the Bills franchise going forward. Particularly a new MLB that fits and will be the leader of defense, a power RB, interior defensive and offensive linemen and potentially a pass rushing DE. If they get what they want in the draft then guys like Cordy Glenn or Jerry Hughes could be traded or let go because they haven't produced up to their cap hit probably and aren't getting any younger. Don't know if they need to cut Incognito because he will be in a contract year, made the pro bowl and has no obvious replacement now. It would be shocking if the Bills were just blown up.
  14. Think the analysis is right on about him. Obviously he's a great runner (looks 4.4 to me with ability to make defenders miss) and the best runner at QB to come out since Vick. Big arm, pocket awareness and ability to extend plays are obvious. His accuracy from the pocket and under pressure is inconsistent and not good enough now. The thing is, he plays his best football when it matters most and is clearly a competitor that wants to improve. His accuracy issues seem correctable and he's shown improvement. He could be a great developmental prospect if drafted into the right situation. Not sure if he's want Daboll and McDermott want or not. Have to see how he does at the combine and in workouts.
  15. Our last 1st Rd QB picked was a 6'5" 240lb guy who could move with a big arm. The problem was his accuracy and ball placement. This would be the same mistake. A team can only draft this guy if they have a coach with a history of fixing the problems Allen has. It is probably a multi year process.
  16. He was a good player and a better person. He'll make a successful transition. Best of Luck to him.
  17. He's a winner, has excellent pocket presence, can extend plays, is very accurate, shows command and plays his best football in the clutch. He's the best QB in the draft and if the Bills find a way to get him he'll be the best we've had since Jim Kelly. Rosen has all of the tools but my bet is he wouldn't have finished the Ohio State game with the pressure they were bringing and his receivers not winning against tight man coverage. Darnold is a competitor and he's going to be great.
  18. He's an All Pro when he wants to be not always when the team needs him to be. Unfortunately the Bills paid a lot of money to find that out. The Jags got him cheap and he's been a good investment so far. Have to see how things go next week and over the next few years before anyone (including him) can make a judgement or statement like this.
  19. All of these teams had top defenses that got key takeaways in big moments. Roethlisberger, Brady, Flacco, Wilson, E.Manning and even Peyton Manning's 2nd superbowl win were about them not making big mistakes, making a few key plays in big moments and the Defense dominating. To me, this list shows that an elite defense is required more often than an elite QB carrying the team (Brees and Rodgers here).
  20. Vea would fit great as a run stuffer in this defense. The LBs need guys like him to fly around and make plays. Vea has enough athleticism to be a pass rush threat too. Would be a top 10 pick if not a NT.
  21. Probably won't have the future franchise QBs available at 21/22 so looking at guys like Vea, M.Davenport(DE) or J.Jackson (CB). Maybe can trade down, get more picks and look at guys like J.Jewell (MLB) or T.Crosby (OL) in the 2nd round. Sony Michel looked good in the college football playoff and would be a nice pick in round 2 or 3 maybe.
  22. There are probably 2 potential franchise QBs in this draft that will go very early and almost impossible for the Bills to get to. There are a few more that can be drafted later but all will have risks and must be developed in the right situation to have chances. The Bills can probably look at guys like Cousins, Alex Smith or McCarron in free agency/trade that wouldn't be too expensive. They all can play winning football supported by a strong running game and good defense. Most likely would be Alex Smith because he's been successful at not turning the ball and using a short passing game to players with similar skills sets to what the Bills currently have. He'd also probably come cheapest because the Chiefs probably need to move him and McDermott has a good relationship with Reid it seems. If none of those three are viable then can't rule out keeping Tyrod. Have to keep developing Peterman and see if there isn't another developmental prospect they could look at in the draft (Mayfield, Rudolph, Linehan). This draft can be about improving the offensive and defensive lines along with getting depth at RB. Might also have to look at a new MLB that will lead the D going forward if Brown isn't re-signed.
  23. The Jags have a really good defense and are even better at home. Thought Dennison had a really good gameplan in the 1st half and didn't make enough adjustments to it in the 2nd half. The reality is that the Bills needed to be able to run the ball better and just didn't get it done. Tyrod missed some throws down the field and some receivers didn't make plays but the gameplan probably was predicated on the Bills having success running as the game went on and mixing in some play action. Against Cover 1, have to think the Bills best chance was running or using the TEs or slot against Jags safeties/3rd CB. The most frustrating part from a playcalling/decision making stand point for me was when they ran the same play and had the same result on each of the 1st plays of the last two drives in the 4th quarter. The Jags knew what was coming and sat on it. Even if McCoy makes the catch, he would get crushed. Have to go to the next progression.
  24. Vea would be the fit for the defense and a huge upgrade as a run stuffing DT.
