  1. No way I’m restructuring Diggs. 16 catches for 140 yards with zero TD’s on 35 targets in our last 4 playoff losses. We need a #1 WR to get over the hump. I’d much prefer moving on altogether and bring in Mike Evans. The Chiefs and Bengals have too many of their own guys to sign. Playing with Josh is Evans best option. At a minimum, get Diggs, White, and Von off the books this year and spread the dead cap over 2 years while we still have a plethora of good young starters on rookie deals like Benford, Bernard, Rousseau, Kincaid, Shakir, Cook, Cyrus, and Brown.
  2. The thing is all the injuries this year showed McBeane you can still win without keeping/paying every decent player you’ve drafted the last 6 years.
  3. Trading Diggs vs keeping him on his current deal adds $3m to the 2024 cap. Evans is unquestionably an upgrade to Diggs. Evans even at $20m+ per year contract wouldn’t take up more than $10m in cap in 2024. So for $13m more in cap you upgrade Diggs to Evans and add a starter to your secondary. It’s unlikely but not unthinkable.
  4. Tannenbaum suggested a Diggs-Tyrique stevenson trade to Bears. I have to say if we could flip Diggs for a starter on a rookie deal then bring in Mike Evans in free agency I’d give that some serious thought.
  5. Will be interesting to see what happens with Von. There’s no way McBeane can pay him the $6m+ that becomes guaranteed on march 18th. First ballot hall of famers I assume don’t want the stigma of being cap casualties. Could see the $6m+ converted to not-likely-to-be-earned incentives considering he barely played any snaps last year which would save the Bills $6m against the cap and Von still gets the $6m if he plays more snaps than last year.
  6. If I’m bringing in a 30+ year old pass rusher, I’d prefer Kahlil Mack once he’s inevitably cut by Chargers.
  7. as long as cap keeps going up 8-10% every year and it looks like it will the next 10 years, there’s almost no downside pushing forward 5-10% of your cap charges every year especially when Josh Allen is your QB for the foreseeable future.
  8. Not following that logic. It’s cap money, not real money. That $4.3m dead cap is less than 2% of $243m and it doesn’t matter where it came from at this point. Floyd clearly prefers the 1 year contract thing and if McBeane decides to bring him back the $4.3m dead cap will have no bearing on that decision.
  9. As long as you don’t push too much into the future, it’s smart cap management that every team does. You get to push current liabilities at today’s prices onto future cap years that are growing 7-10% every year. It’s borrowing at 0% when you know your salary goes up every year.
  10. Post June 1 trade seems unrealistic. Teams make their big moves before the draft. And I’m not sure how a 2025 draft pick helps the Bills very much. The options are to cut him before his 2024 salary becomes guaranteed on march 14th or keep him. I suppose a 3rd option is somebody gives Bills enough trade compensation that they eat the full $31m in dead cap this year, but can’t see that happening. Diggs seems like he’s being a good soldier so far this off-season so Id be inclined to keep him.
  11. There is so much dead weight on the 2024 cap and almost zero free agents that are ‘must sign’ guys. We won 6 games in a row and took KC to the wire with a patchwork D and paying Diggs and Knox like they’re top players at their position. I really hope McBeane takes the opportunity clear a whole lot of non-performing and under performing contracts off the books.
  12. Whatever he had Bosa doing a majority of the game just chasing Pacheco across the field and giving Mahomes huge running lanes was idiotic. Might’ve worked in 1st half but backfired in the 2nd half effectively taking away bosa’s pass rush ability.
  13. Completely agree with this. Kickers are so important in the playoffs. You cannot win a Super Bowl with a shaky kicker. The margin is so close in these playoff games and most of the good teams have kickers who are automatic out to 55 yards.
  14. Let’s do both and make Chiefs weaker in the process.
  15. we gotta stop kicking the can for guys that aren’t difference makers especially on defense. I’m cutting any guy on defense except Oliver to sign Jones.
  16. This is why the Bills gotta consider going after Chris Jones. Gotta make Chiefs weaker to beat them. And if nothing else you make him more expensive for Chiefs to sign. Jones ain’t going to a non-contender. He’ll never get his due in KC. It’s all Mahomes Kelce and the coaching. He comes to Buffalo and we win super bowl, he’ll be in reggie White territory.
  17. I’d rather spend money on a shaky kicker, scrub special teams only guys and undersized aging defenders who get pushed around come January.
  18. Hate on him all you want but dude backs it up.
  19. If SF kicker doesn’t choke, they’re winning
  20. Mcduffie is such a good CB. Depressing that KC jumped us to get him.
