  1. The real impressive thing is that teams know we aren't THAT explosive running the ball. I love Freddie and Spiller but they aren't the leagues premier running game yet. Therefore, Fitz is putting up some big numbers when teams know he has to throw the ball. That's impressive. Remember what would happen when Trent or JP were in throw only mode? it was a train wreck/
  2. The shocking thing about Maybin is not that he is basically a 28-inch waist, skinny, DE or OLB (which is laughable at his size). To me it's his complete lack of football instincts. I mean c'mon, this dude can't even get on the field as a special teams ace?!? He has no technique to get to the QB, he has no ability to shed blockers or use brute strength to get through the pack, he has no clue how to sell out on special team and take proper angles to ball carriers. The guy is literally like a guy off the streets trying to play in the NFL. I'd cut him loose. HE's not going to be an impact player in this league, ever.
  3. Spiller's fumble was a killer but his mistake was not securing the ball. HE will learn from that big time. What i hated more was how C.J. took so many kneel downs in the 2nd half. I mean c'mon, this dude can hit a homerun every time he returns a kick or at least get it out to the 40. I hated that Ravens fans around me were laughing that they were "in his head" in the 2nd half. Starting at the 20 everytime against Baltimore does not usually breed success. BTW- i still marvel at that Ray Lewis strip at the end. The guy made Nelson look like a child....using one arm as leverage on Nelson's body and the other arm to steal the ball without it ever hitting the ground. The Ravens were ripping and tugging at the ball all day. I like that tenacity. Wish we had more of that.
  4. Sitting in the stands at Baltimore, one thing i noticed is how easily the Ravens RBs could get outside, especially on Kelsay's side. He's just not very fast to the sidelines. I can foresee the Chiefs getting some huge yardage plays especially with that speedster (McCluster?) and Jamaal Charles getting out there. As for Fitz, he seriously may be top 5 in the NFL at reading and understanding the defense in front of him. Does he always get the ball there with 100% accuracy? No, but he is unbelievably crafty. That and pocket presence are like 80% of the position imo. I think he could have a good day vs. KC and he's gonna need to in order to win this game.
  5. Remember Rich Gannon got really good like in his 8th season? Same could be true for Fitz. It's taken him 6 years but he really understands complex defenses and who to throw to in almost every situation. You cant teach that stuff overnight. I think his best years are ahead of him...a good 5-6 more seasons of solid football. I'd still draft a QB but maybe it doesn't have to be at the #1 spot.
  6. I don't think its just a Bills thing. In general it seems like bad teams get the worst calls (or who are perceived to be the inferior team). But then again, they are bad teams because maybe they just screw up more. It's not like the NBA where its obvious the home team and star players get better treatment. Its very subtle in the NFL and not really done on purpose, imo.
  7. I'd like to think we'd get that call BUT, i cannot discount the fact that when NFL referees enter a game, it's impossible not to think,,"one team is a SB contender, well coached, plays hard and has Pro Bowlers all over the field....the other club is winless, undisciplned and kind of a rag tag outfit that is inferior" I mean that has to play into their minds subconsciously when they're looking at borderline plays...like interference, holding and this strip play.
  8. I was upset by the calls too but in retrospect they were correct (except for the non call on Boldin). Anyway, it's just our luck that Ed Reed returned for this game isn't it? We would've won the game if his replacement was starting again. Just like Garrard is out for a few week with Jax now (of course he was 100% healthy in RWS and shredding them!). Bills should see some breaks fall their way at some point, i hope. yeah- I'm siging up for the #1 pick but i don't want my team to go winless to get it.
  9. Reed and Ray Lewis...just difference makers out there. Those guys just will that team to win.
  10. He is still the only guy you feel like can hit the home run every time he gets the ball. I agree, he does have to get better at reading the holes though. I'm hoping he is like McFadden of the Raiders.. Maybe takes him a season or so but then he "gets it" and really takes off. I saw him and Freddie doing more of the "Maurice Jones-Drew" cutback style running yesterday...which seemed to catch Baltimore off balance. Spiller did miss one juicy gap in the line though. I know which play you're talking about.
  11. I was walking out of the Stadium yesterday and overheard some Ravens fans behind me. They were amazed at how well Bills fans "travel" even though the team has been "lousy and irrelevant for a decade" as i quote. These folks couldn't believe how many Bills fans showed up in their house. And believe me, Baltimore is a very tough ticket to get for out of town fans.. Every seat is sold through a PSL and if you want to buy tickets, you have to pay like 2 or 3-times the face value online. Great showing fellow Bills fans!!
  12. Totally agree. I was at the game yesterday and was telling my buddy the same thing. No rookie is gonna come in here and be able to do what Fitz has done. It's taken Fitz, a Harvard graduate, 6 years to get to the point where he can read a defense, understand coverages and be able to move people around on the fly before the snap. Dude has got brass b*lls too. Some of those throws yesterday, i never would have thrown. He ALWAYS knows who the correct guy is to throw to! He doesn't always get it there but hey, I'll take it. Now just maybe, teams can't stack 8 in the box and stuff the run and he's proven he can beat the blitz. He makes everyone around him look better. I have always been in the Fitz bandwagon and called for him to start the opener vs. Miami. That coulda been our one win. I would still take a QB with the 1st or 2nd round pick, but Fitz would be my guy for a while and to help a new QB. You cannot find this intelligence on many other QB's. I hope the Bills can lock him down.
  13. I strongly disagree, my ears are ringing from today. Very good game day experience and stadium, imo. Those fans were stunned today. They kinda took it as a loss.
  14. Even Tony Dungy said it shoulda been an INT. Several horrible calls in the NFL today...including the TD catch just ruled incomplete by Shiancoe.
  15. I'm not even to going to get started in the "Bills moving to LA" talk again. I'll worry about it, if/when it seems like its a realistic possibility. Here's one thing i do know. If the Bills ever leave town, there will never be NFL football again in Buffalo...for a million different reasons. This isn't a Cleveland/Baltimore/Houston/St. Louis scenario. The fact is that you can't let this franchise leave, period.
  16. Devin Thomas and James Hardy have been two monster WR busts. I think Thomas caught on with Carolina though. Redskins have created a culture of winning with Shanny. Plus of course, McNabb was a gigantic upgrade. They still get gashed by the run and their D is not living up to expectations. They are bending and not breaking in some cases which is part luck. Still, they have a much better team than the Bills.
  17. Tailgate sounds good. Just checking...is this something we can pay at the door if we decide to come? or do you have to prepay? Thanks.
  18. Last night was just further proof that Buffalo made a great decision to dump Edwards. He's not a solid QB. He may not even be in the league next year. Once the opposing team game plans against Trent, he is a very easy QB to defend. He might be the easiest QB in the league to shut down and rattle (other than maybe Clausen or Colt McCoy)
  19. Eh, the Ravens love to talk. They didn't exactly destroy the Browns a couple weeks ago at home. Word down here is they cannot put pressure on the QB anywhere close to what they used to be able to do (without sending extra guys). Bills need to man up and play with heart and guts. Ray Ray isn't the player he used to be but he's still an immense presence out there on the field. I'll be at M&T....sitting with a bunch of very over-confident Ravens fans. They have every right to be. Hopefully the Bills can show up and not get embarrassed.
  20. I was thinking the same. The one year Buffalo has a real shot for the #1 pick and the whole draft process will be in turmoil over the potential lockout. A large crop of underclassmen will opt to stay in school. This would be just a tough break that no one could foresee!
  21. one of my co-workers just saw me washing out my Bills coffee mug (which i use everyday). He says to me..."what's up with your Bills? i hear they are gonna move to Toronto or LA or something". I just shook my head and babbled something aboout #1 draft pick, rebuild this thing..etc.. ugh!
  22. I live in the mid-atlantic area and people think the Bills are just the dregs of the NFL. For the first time ever, I'm a bit embarrassed. I took the 2010 "Billieve" sticker off my car. I'm not encouraging my kids to wear their Bills stuff to school, because why should they endure other kids laughing about it. If they go 0-16, it's gonna be real tough on us out of town Bills fans.
  23. I noticed something while listening to a national and regional sports talk show. Last year Buffalo was always talked about positively...as in "hey even Buffalo can support their team in bad economic times and with a lousy team, why can't Jacksonville?" Now after one non-sellout, the shows i heard were lumping Oakland, Jax and Buffalo into the same crowd of "cities that cannot support an NFL team" I really take issue with this. The fans in WNY are awesome. If we had Jacksonville's team the place would sellout no problem. It's just after 10 years of mediocrity and bad football, no one is really going to come out. Even the NY Jets or Indy would have gobs of no-shows if their team was this bad. Now the media is going to pound Buffalo fans for not supporting their team. That makes me furious.
  24. Ralph already came out and said we need a good young QB. Believe me, Chan and Nix know that we need a franchise QB. They're going to take a QB with their first pick. It's done.
  25. Sitting at the game watching him, i was slightly disappointed. Instead of hitting the seam with a burst, he pulled a few Marshawn Lynch type, stutter step (sideways) moves. You just can't do that in the NFL. If you hesitate for a second, these NFL defenders smell it and swarm the ball carrier, no matter how fast the RB happens to be. Hopefully Spiller is learning on the fly. You watch a Freddie or MoJo and those guys are running downhill all the time. Usually one cutback move is Ok as long as your still going downhill. Spiller needs to lose the jitterbug thing at the line of scrimmage and he will be fine.
