  1. I was at the game yesterday. I am a big Fitz fan. I have to say, great start but i was a little disappointed in his overall performance. I guess i expect more of him than I ever did of Trent. During the late 2nd Qtr and late 3rd when the Bills REALLY needed to stem the tide and string together a good drive he couldn't do it and had a couple errant throws. I was a little more hopeful. Overall he's a huge upgrade over Edwards of course and he actually has some fantasy football value (which you could not say about many recent Bills QB's). I will say the Bills had better draft a QB at their #1 spot though. Fitz can help develop the guy, but they do need to bring someone in who is the next "franchise" QB.
  2. Hey, all i know is if I make it to 90+ and I can still walk around like Ralph and actually be able to speak half-intelligently, I'll take it. Good for Ralph! Most people his age are either dead or have dementia...in a home somewhere, confined to wheelchair or bed.
  3. Overdorf started in like 1987 as an intern. How in the world do you suspect he ran two of the best GM's away? Overdorf was a glorified coffee boy during the Polian regime. Smart guy though who knew capology and that's where he fit in.
  4. I like it. He's gonna keep draft picks, and get rid of players that are not productive. not gonna keep losing and have the same players play lousy (goodbye Mr. Maybin?). I think Trent went down exactly as we thought. Smart guy, knew the system, could not produce like they thought on gameday....had to see it for themselves before cutting him loose and having yet another ex-Bills player perform well elsewhere.
  5. They always say, you can tell the opposing team the exact play...but if you execute the way you're supposed to execute, they still can't stop it.
  6. I thought Fred and Fitz were two bright spots late last season. I'm happy they both get a chance to be "the man". Too bad the defense may not help these guys get many W's.
  7. I still stand by the team. I'm pretty sure Gailey and Nix are not complete idiots and know what REAL football players look like and play like. They now know that this thing needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Get rid of the unproductive players (i.e. Edwards, Meredith, Lynch) and start replacing. Lynch was not explosive, and more often than not he'd get caught from behind while going east-west instead of north-south. Don't confuse carrying a defender or two an extra yard for being a top shelf NFL RB. He's not. So good for Nix/Gailey for getting what they could for this guy and hopefully they can make some nice moves in the offseason and going forward.
  8. I love trading Lynch. The only thing i hate is that we didn't do it sooner. I liked Joique Bell and Chad Simpson ALOT and now those guys are no longer Bills property.
  9. I keep watching this team every Sunday, year after year. Every once in a while I think, "why bother"? But i can't shake the habit of watching and loving the Bills. If they DO NOT draft a QB in round 1 of the 2011 draft, I will stop watching. They need to take a chance on a QB...period. Do what you gotta do to get Mallett in here.
  10. I'm sure somewhere at OBD, Chan Gailey has read this news and thought..."yup, Trent looked great in practice here too, then during games he acted like he's never played QB before". Trent will not be a successful NFL QB. Not the Trent we all saw.
  11. Um, we did beat Miami last year. I was there when Fitz and TO led a big 31-14 win over the fish. Although I can't remember if it was Fewell or Jauron on the sidelines
  12. Last night on Football Night in America (NBC), Peter King had some sound bytes of Sanchez talking about this. Then they said the Jets had no right to complain about trash talking since they are the kings of it. Then Rodney Harrison pipes up "well, when you play the Bills, you need something for motivation"..and the whole set had a bunch of laughs. argh!
  13. It's amazing after an 0-4 start and looking AWFUL that we would still draft 3rd if the season ended today. What's a team gotta do to earn the 1st overall pick?!?!? my gosh i thought we were a lock, but i guess not.
  14. This offense needs to hold the ball and kill clock to even have a chance in games. Unfortunately, the D gives up points at such an alarming rate, the O has to go into pass happy mode way too early. In any event, i thought Fitz played well. 128 yards passing but don't forget the 77 rushing as well. Also, he had 4 passes dropped that would have resulted in at least 50 yards more passing, imo. Interesting on the very first Bills series, Fitz got 7 yards on two plays to make it a 3rd and 3. those same two plays would have resulted in Trent Edwards getting sacked since Fitz had to run for his life and ducked a couple times to get away. That's the difference between the two players. I like Fitz's game. Just wish they weren't playing from behind so much and maybe they could get a turnover in our favor once in a while to give him a short field.
  15. FOr some reason, large blocks of empty seats look so much worse the the Ralph than any other stadium. Maybe its because at Jax and Oakland, the seats are all different colors or something? i dunno, but it's going to look horrible for that Lions game for sure.
  16. Also, when the offense comes back on the field midway through the 3rd Qtr and it's 24-7 and 31-7, it's in "throw only" mode. That will not be good for anyone when the Jets know we have to throw. I pin 80% of this loss on D. We all knew the O would have a rough time scoring even 17 on the Jets. Meanwhile, they should not release Lynch but trade him TODAY. Green Bay is desperate. Their leading rusher yesterday was a big slow white fullback, Kuhn. Get what you can for Lynch and just go with Fred and Spiller. My god, they're gonna be 1-15 or 2-14 with or without Lynch!
  17. I mean they both stink but for me it's the D. I didn't expect them to be great or anything, but year after year we have the most pourous run defense imagineable. It's more difficult imo, to build a solid Offense. A high powered O like the Kelly era comes along once a century. In Buffalo, NY, with the crummy weather, we should always have a stout defense to rely on. I know they've whiffed on some high defensive draft picks but still, how can it be so bad year after year? So frustrating. Last year the D got pretty lucky getting 28 INT's (I say that because deflections and stuff that go into getting INT's are 50% luck). This year those things are not happening so what looked like a solid secondary coming in, is also a weak spot. I dunno. Maybe the Jets, New Eng and Green Bay all have Super Bowl caliber offense and things will start to look better over the next few weeks. One can only hope. Up until this week, the Bills were irrevelvant and under the radar. Now, the Bills are starting to get noticed nationally for being REALLY BAD.
  18. Well, I'm coming in for this game but i need to sell the Lions, Browns and Pats games. Guess what,,,I will have to give those tix away for free. Probably leave them under peoples windshield wipers! There is no resales market for Bills tix this year. Really sad. The product is awful, but I will still support NFL in Buffalo.
  19. I'm flying in and going to the Jax game with friends. I don't care. I'm supporting having an NFL team in Buffalo and I'll root for this lousy club to beat the Jags. If you boycott the team and going to the games...you're just assuring the team will pack and leave someday. I don't want to see that. This team won't be down forever.
  20. i tell you what, its easier with Fitz to tell if its the QB's fault or the Oline/RB. I think the Oline has been more at fault today. Several times they have unblocked guys coming in and really rushing the throw,
  21. I'm kinda shocked the Jags didn't take Tebow. Seemed like a natural fit there even if for 2011.
  22. I dunno, Mallett seems like "the guy" this year. He ain't the fastest on his feet, but i've seem him sidestep the pressure plenty. I hope the Bills just take him if they have the chance. Don't try to get "cute" (i.e. Maybin) and think you're outsmarting everyone by taking some other guy early.
  23. Hey, sometimes it's better to look good, than play good. that's the team motto.
  24. So i guess it wouldn't surprise me if Freddie and Spiller are the featured RB's this week. They play the Jets. A really good run defense. Why ruin Lynch's 4.7 ypc average?!? That would hurt his trade value.
  25. I heard him this morning interviewed on the radio. Not that his opinion matters, but it was interesting to hear his thoughts on this crop of college QB's pro potential. He is still very high in Mallett...says that Alabama is a different animal this year and his performace against them won't knock him down from #1. Thinks Jake Locker has proven nothing and does not see any leadership in him either, doesn't like him. He has not seen Andrew Luck really prove himself yet either, wasn't too high on him at the moment. Says Colin Kaepernick of Nevada should be getting the hype because he thinks this guy will be an excellent pro. So there ya go...another opinion from a guy that may know something about QB's (but last i checked is Graham Harrell even in the NFL?)
