  1. It's funny how when a team sucks, they usually throw it 45+ times in an attempt to dig out of a hole and rack up a lot of garbage time passing numbers. Trent and this offense are incapable of producing even that, it's incredible! They're gonna top off at about 170-180 yds per game on offense which is putrid. It's very strange to watch Trent play. He doesn't really know when to release the ball?!? It's like he gives himself 0.5 second to scan deep and then decides it's not there so he goes underneath, often times to a guy that is blanketed. He has no awareness back there so he doesn't know how or when to step up in the pocket and buy time, let alone make a play (i.e. see Matt Shaub yesterday for a clinic on how to buy yourself an extra couple seconds against a fierce pass rush). This aspect alone should earn Fitz a start let alone the leadership aspects (or lackthereof in Trent's case). Bottom line is that the O-line is below average, the WR's are below average and this QB manages to make them all way worse! I'll continue to say that Gailey and Nix are not complete morons. They know this guy can't be a part of the Bills future plans....he simply can't play QB. I gotta believe they are biting the bullett now in the hopes of getting RYan Mallett or one of the big names in the draft.
  2. Sad, but i pretty much agree. N.Eng is gonna pound the Bills no matter who is playing at any position. We will be lucky to get 200 yds of offense at the Pats and they will be held under 200 vs. the Jets. Fitz or Brohm don't deserve the abuse. Let things happen like they will happen and plan for Fitz or Brohm vs. Jacksonville.
  3. I really believe that. Gailey knows offense. He's not a moron. He knows this QB can't play in this league. The plan is to bottom out and secure a top 3 pick by playing someone you know can't win.... but will try. They need to shore up plenty of positions. Just hope the fan base can withstand this sludge of a product this year.
  4. How else do you explain keeping Edwards in the game today, or last week for that matter. There is such a lack of production from the QB that it's disheartening for everyone else. How do you not just chuck the ball downfield on 3rd and 4th and longs?!? Trent is a complete Liability. I was watching with a Packers fan and he was laughing at the Bills whenever Trent would have adequate time to get rid of it and he's just eat it..or he would run out of bounds. Also, showcasing Lynch was quite obviously a way to make him marketable for the Pack. The O-line stinks and we are devoid of Talent but don't Tell me Fitz is not a better QB than Trent. It's not even close in my book. Also, Freddie J should be the starting RB, period. Just move Lynch out and play Jackson and Spiller. IMO, the Bills are playing to lose, not to win. Maybe that's the plan in the grand scheme of things. Can you imagine how they're gonna sell that Toronto game? ugh. They will have to truck in thousands of Bears fans.
  5. In your wildest dreams...Edwards would not have beaten Miami 31-14 or dusted off Indy 31-0 last season. Fitz did. IMO, he's a much better in-game QB than Trent Edwards.
  6. I started a thread here about Mallett after the first game of Last season. I liked him then and i like him now.
  7. Hilarious. Looks more like seats on a 3-minute Disney ride rather than an airplane. Can't imagine my 5 yr old sitting in that.
  8. First, nice work. I did a similar thread with Edwards stats earlier this week, but not as detailed. A couple thoughts.... I definitely have noticed his lack of INT's over the past several games and due mostly in part to the lack of taking any chances. Now that conservative play almost failed miserably against Miami since two high percentage-low risk passes were flat out dropped by Miami for what surely would have been TD's. Trent got so lucky there. He's playing so mind-numbingly conservative that he cannot function, let alone see things develop or anticipate downfield. Did anyone notice FLacco the other night vs. the Jets? He was totally erratic early but kept taking shots down field and ultimately hit a few big ones. Reminded me of Fitz. On one play the Jets blitzed and the defender was inches from burying his helmet into Flacco's midsection. Just as the hit arrived, Flacco released the ball downfield to Housh, who was well coverered but he saw the ball, stopped and outleaped the defender who was looking the other way initially and wasn't as prepared to catch it. It was a big play for the Ravens. First, if it's Trent...he doesn't even get that ball out..he gets destroyed. Second, if he manages to get the ball out he sails way downfield and it results in an overthrow. He never would have given our guy a chance to go up and get it...or trust our WR. He's simply awful under duress. Count me in as feeling like Fitzpatrick would have made enough plays to win last week. Afterall, he did beat the fish last November 31-14 with some big plays. Clearly he is the smarter QB who has better escapability and awareness downfield.
  9. It's a sucker bet if you like the Pack. It's not like we are UB playing at Alabama. These are 2 pro teams. Green Bay lost their talented starting RB. They won an emotional game at Philly...a place they've traditionally failed. Green Bay will have a let down against a team they know they are at least 2 TD's better than. It's human nature. Couple that with the fact the Bills were embarrassed offensively last week and they will come out much more prepared. Plus, as much as i hate Trent Edwards, his only halfway decent games come on the road....I don't care if it's agaunst a 3-4 defense. I see the Packers winning, but it will be like a 4-9 point margin, imo.
  10. I'm with you. I get Sunday ticket to specifically watch Bills games. I can't watch this guy. He is just awful. People lament about his always checking down but even those plays are not successful. I was going to fly in for the Jax game but i will cancel the trip if Edwards lays another egg and is still QB'ing. I would gladly watch Fitz. He made some big plays down the field last year and his clearly the smarter QB when it comes to reading the D. He also moves around better and can get away.
  11. If it's a big topic here and in the media, you know some players are talking about it behind closed doors. I'm sure there are more than a few Bills who are miffed at Trent's play and figure they could have scored 17 points with better decision making at QB. People here seem to slough off the 2 pick 6's that were dropped by Miami. That's a very big deal to me and does not bode well for Trent's play and decision making.
  12. Be wary of the 14 points. While Trent Edwards and the O-line do stink....Trent's very best games have come away from Ralph Wilson Stadium. For whatever reason he cannot handle the pressure in the Ralph and at least performs at a mediocre level on the road. If the game were at RWS I'd say take GB plus the points. At GB, i see this as a 30-17 final with the Bills eeking out the cover.
  13. I agree that Freddie hits the hole hard. He doesn't try to outrun anyone, just hits the seam and goes. Truthfully though, none of our RB's are gonna be very successful without even a threat of a passing game. They're just gonna key on Fred, CJ and Lynch and go one on one with the receivers. At some point soon, Spiller is going to realize he can't go side to side in the NFL. I though he "got it" after the Cinci preseason game but now he will surely understand after Miami. Pick your seam...and GO. don't waste energy with lateral movement.
  14. I don't know why people think that other teams have these great offensive lines?!? it mystifies me. Of course Buffalo's O-line blows...but listen to the fans of like 20 other teams. They all complain about the O-line as well. Very few are happy with that group. My point in this thread is "body of work". And Trent's body of work is way below average and bordering on really bad. He's actually regressed since he came into the league. He's never thrown for 300 yards. My god...if he lines up and throws 60 passes, he still would not complete enough to garner 300 yds! He has no clue when to release the ball? no awareness of the situation?!? no explosiveness whatsoever?!? I could only dream of a situation where we had a Tyler Thigpen or Sage Rosenfels. What a sad testament to Trent. Those 2 guys can actually complete balls downfield and play with passion.
  15. Fitz played a similar Miami team last Nov., same crummy offensive line. All he did was throw for 250+ yds and ran for another 50 in a 31-14 win. Yeah- i'd say Fitz is better.
  16. I was impressed with Miami's D. Especially their technique in tackling. They were outstanding. The BIlls on the other hand, you could see Ronnie Brown and Williams bouncing off guys and getting extra yards. They had Spiller around the corner several times too. Just great D. But our offense is putrid so we'll see.
  17. As Thurman Thomas so astutely put it this morning.... You see all around the league, the Good QB's with good offensive lines make plays, the Good QB's with bad offensive lines make plays....not here
  18. No, i highlighed the awful games. In his career he has 11 games of greater than 200 yds and 20 games less than 200. He's never had a 300 yd game. His record is 8-3 when he throws over 200 yds which is great. His record is 5-14 when he throws for less than 200 yds.
  19. Let's cut through the B.S. Trent is not a bonified NFL QB. His last game yesterday below vs. Miami shows how stats can be misleading. His game, 18 for 34 even looks better on paper than it was in actuality. In total, Trent has had 3 decent games (after Arizona). Win vs. San Diego, Win at KC, Win vs. Tampa Bay I highlighted his more putrid games below. Even average backups could put up better numbers than this. I looked up Matt Leinart's 2006 season and he had better numbers overall than Trent. Without a shadow of a doubt this will be TE's last season in Buffalo. They cannot continue with this level (lack of) productivity. vs. Baltimore 11 for 21 153yds 0 td 1 int vs. Cleveland 13 for 33 124yds 0 td 0 int ** played in a blizzard vs. NY Giants 9 for 26 161 yds 2 td 3 int vs. Phila 16 for 30 133 yds 0 td 0 int Vs. New Eng 13 for 23 120 yds 1 td 2 int vs. Cleveland 16 for 26 148 yds 1 td 3 int vs. San Fran 10 for 21 112 yds 0 td 0 int vs. New Eng 14 for 25 128 yds 0 td 0 int vs. New Orl 20 for 35 156 yds 0 td 1 int vs. Miami 14 for 26 192 yds 1 td 3 int vs. Cleveland 16 for 31 152 yds 0 td 1 int vs. Tennessee 18 for 28 185 yds 1 td 1 int vs. Miami 18 for 34 139 yds 1 td 0 int
  20. Don't forget, Miami dropped two gift wrapped pick-6's and also had an underthrown and dropped TD pass to Marshall. That's 14-21 points right there. Other opponents won't drop those. The D played pretty stout but overall they should have lost by a lot more. We were by far the most inept offense of the day. Half the yardage came on ONE drive. We had 10 other drives that netted like 75 yards...at HOME. Awful
  21. If Gailey bothered to look at last November's home thrashing of Miami he would've started Fitz in the first place. The guy hits passes downfield, scrambles pretty well and has pocket awareness. Trent does not have one single intangible that i can list.
  22. The QB makes EVERYONE better or worse. In the Bills case, worse. If he gets rid of the ball and makes some plays downfield (he had time on plenty of throws) it opens up the run game. If he makes the correct reads and shows some pocket awareness, the O-line is suddenly not crap anymore. the dude stinks.
  23. I've supported this team for 40 yrs, through thick and thin. I'm supposed to fly in for the Jax game. If Trent continues to be the starter I am canceling my trip. I'd support Brohm, Fitz or whoever. I can't sit through another TE start. He's just awful and shows no leadership, confidence or passion.
  24. Theres a damn good chance Fitz could have won that game today. He did beat the Fish 31-14 just last November. He can run, make the correct reads and buy time plus he provides leadership. I would like to see him start next week.
  25. I cannot remember when Trent had a good game, really. I used to think he would make a decent backup QB but not anymore. I know he's bad, you know he's bad, Jim Kelly knows it, the media knows it....now Chan knows it.
