  1. Jackson wouldn't be a fit in this defense anyway considering McDermott and Fraziers obsession with zone defense and playing guys 5 - 10 yards deep.
  2. I would be interested in Mack, Corbett and Odbah. Berrios is intriguing if Beasely isn't back but still think that's a longshot and he'll probably restructure and stay.
  3. Not sure I understand this teams unhealthy obsession with special teams considering how this teams season just ended. And why spend this kind of money on a run of the mill player that can likely easily be replaced by another late round pick or dirt cheap FA? Just seems there is a very narrow focus with Beane in terms of either raiding the Carolina Panthers organization or resigning every player he's drafted to feed his own ego and belief he's some sort of draft genius. God help the fans if this guy thinks resigning anybody and everybody is the smart play and this is another 'run it back' offseason.
  4. I'm sure the Bills already have a plan in place to address backup QB because even if they draft another QB this year in the mid/late rounds there's no way they are going into the season without another viable veteran option.
  5. True but recency bias is going to be at play here. If the price was right though I'd certainly be interested because he's a big time weapon when available and on the field.
  6. This proves the oline is still a major problem despite the late season surge. With that said, I'd still swing for the fences for a premier pass rusher with the assumption that this team can find some lesser FA olinemen to compete or focus on draft for that.
  7. I really hope the bills stay far way from a deal like this. Not because it's yet another Panther player, but the injury history is too lengthy here.
  8. Brandon pulled a lot more strings that most fans realized and was a major part of this franchises failures between 2000 - 2017. In some ways he was the defacto owner as Ralph Wilson's health declined and it's not secret Brandon was behind the Canada series which was another epic failure taking away a precious home game every year to try and pimp the Bills to the Toronto fanbase.
  9. I'm over the Star L. stuff but it's time to start trimming fat and making moves like the Chiefs who just dumped Anthony Hitchens in the first of many expected to moves to free up cap space so they can be players in FA.
  10. I used to spend a lot of time in California for work and most LA sports fans are either transplants from other areas of the country that root for their home teams (like the bills) or bandwagon fans that simply attach themselves to the hot ticket so to speak whether it's the Rams, Lakers, Dodgers, etc. If anything fans in the bay area are more hardcore and closer to a Bills fans which is why the NFC Championship was essentially a home game for the 49ers even though they lost. In fact the sad reality is most Ram fans that were jumping for joy over winning the superbowl probably couldn't even name more than a handful of players on the team, including all the celebrities and other people that had money to burn to be able to actually watch the game in person anyway given the outrageous ticket prices. This is the difference between a team like the Bills where the entire western NY region and fanbase would truly savor a championship and why it would mean so much compared to a city like LA or NY when they win a pro sports championship.
  11. It's interesting that Beane made these comments given how good the Bills oline graded out in the final weeks of the season and into the postseason. Dawkins - had a very poor start to the season likely attributed to his covid struggles, but graded out as the best LT in the NFL during the stretch run and into the postseason. LG - obviously there are still questions here given the various bodies inserted into the position during the course of the season. Bates appeared to be a revelation but assuming there are still doubts he's a full time 16 game starter there and/or if they resign him. Center - Morse was probably the best starter on the entire oline from start to finish, but still questions about his physicality specifically in the run game. Also his age/contract/concussion history could be in play here. RG/Williams - Another are likely to look at and Williams will probably be gone unless he agrees to big paycut. RT/Brown - Brown looks to be locked into this role heading into 2022 but depth and competition is always needed. In the end my guess is Beane probably sticks with his usual MO of signing 'quantity over quality' in terms of the FA bodies they bring in and then look to add another key piece in the draft since they have found some good players in the middle rounds specifically.
  12. The problem with Allen's current deal is it's going to become obsolete soon in that Beane is going to be forced to pay him even more money assuming Allen is truly among the league's elite QBs in the next few years.
  13. Top 5 QB in the AFC/NFL for sure, but to say he's the #1 QB in the conference makes zero sense at this point especially since his postseason numbers weren't even that great and it's the Bengals defense that truly carried them during their SB run.
  14. To be honest the overall formula hasn't changed much and if you look at most teams over the years who have won a championship it's been about the trenches, specifically the dline more times than not. It was the difference last night with the Rams dline ultimately exposing the Bengals poor oline and last year in a major way with the Bucs against the Chiefs. The only real anomaly in recent years was a few years ago in the 49ers/Chiefs SB. The 49ers were dominating that game defensively and had a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter until Mahomes chucked the ball downfield in a desperate play which changed everything. That game is probably the only example of a dominant defense that came up short in the SB in recent memory and ironically a similar outcome happened in the NFC Championship this year in a game the 49ers also should have won.
  15. It was a calculated roll of the dice by their organization, and if they had lost the criticism heaped on them would already be on overload through the media. Remember at the end of the day only 1 team in every pro sports organization is truly successful when the season ends. But everything you do from the day the season ends is building up for that next chance at a championship and it's no coincidence the Rams made the big trade for Stafford last year after their season ended in the divisional round and before the NFL season was even over. They had a plan and executed on it and weren't going to 'stay the course' like some thing the Bills should do.
  16. What does Donald have left to accomplish though when you really think about it. He's a guaranteed first ballot HOF with multiple accolades with the SB championship being the icing on the cake. Even if he does walk away today many will look at him as one of the best DT to ever play the game, if not the best ever. A lot of these guys are smart enough to know that once you hit 30 it's not worth the risk of long term health issues and I could see why he would want to leave now and raise his family.
  17. If anything it's the opposite, but who really knows with the Pegulas.
  18. And the chances of them replicating these metrics next season or anytime soon are slim to none which is also why 2021 may be viewed as a true missed opportunity down the road.
  19. Every franchise wants this in theory, but after four straight superbowl losses and 17 years of utter failure before the current regime what hardcore Bills fan out there wouldn't take the Rams approach if it meant at least one guaranteed SB win even if there was another 5 - 10 years of sucking that followed in the years after?
  20. Respecting and appreciating what McDermott has done here and also realizing he may have reached his ceiling and not the guy to get this team to a SB and/or winning one is not mutually exclusive. And still think if I'm the Pegulas I sat there watching the SB last night even more angry and disappointed knowing the Bills probably could have won it all this year if not for such terrible coaching and management of situational football. And despite what fans would like to believe, both McDermott and Beane know that it's time to deliver in 2022 (year 6) of their regime as 'the process' thing is no longer valid.
  21. No kidding and that's the point. The Bills/Chiefs game was not 'the real SB' and both fanbases need to accept that and move on.
  22. It's not going to be the Bills and you'll hear the same rationale from the NFL front office schedule makers that they gave for not having Bucs/Bills opener last year. (i.e. it's a better option for a midseason type of game) More I think about it I'm not sure there has ever been an interconference opening game since they started doing the Thursday night format. If there has someone please remind me.
  23. Based on how he looked at the college football championship there's a better chance of getting Peyton Manning to come back and play for the Colts than Luck. Dude is definitely done with football and looks like he may have health issues to boot.
  24. Probably the right move as he's not going to be back with the Bills next year and not sure any other team is going to be lining up for his services.
  25. Agree, I saw a lot of this on social media last night but it makes no sense since neither team won the championship, let alone even if made it to the SB.
