  1. Here's the way I look at it, knowing what Fitzpatrick can offer if he signed in Buffalo and Allen gets hurt and misses a significant stretch of games what evidence is there that he's going to be able to carry the load and win games for this team? Sure he might come in and have a 2 or 3 game stretch where he goes bonkers and puts up some 300+ yard games. But history has shown what happens next and the lightening in the bottle fizzles out quickly with Fitz. Bigger picture with Fitz is the smart move is to simply retire and not continue playing period even if the bills were interested (and I don't think they will be).
  2. This. It all sounds great on the surface but if a new variant hits or things start heading in a bad direction again there's no way the NFL won't bring back the covid protocols and possibly even stricter ones depending the circumstances.
  3. If we go hard after another 'name' TE I'd still prefer Gronk as the first option.
  4. I don't agree that the playoff rules need to be changed, they already were and do allow each team to have a possession unless it's a TD. And the Bengals were obviously able to stop the Chiefs on their first possession of OT in the AFCCG. Which brings me back to the point, why is Leslie Frazier still here? Why does McD think that the same failed scheme that has never been able to perform well against the leagues best QBs the last 5 years is still the answer? The defense gave up nearly 600 yards against the Chiefs and the pass rush once again never came close to touching Mahomes other than one sack early in the game when they were backed up in the endzone. Your defense makes a play or two during regulation and you win that game. Your defense holds for 13 seconds which happens in 99 out of 100 similar circumstances you win the game. Bottom line the excuses aren't valid anymore and it's still very telling that JA17 had a historical playoff run and his coaches still found a way to not seize the moment when this franchise was on the cusp of greatness.
  5. Didn't thousands of fans basically give up their season tickets because of the vaccine requirement to attend games?
  6. I don't have problem with this for the simple fact that even if Beane knows it's time to move on and would like to try and trade him he's not to say anything negative publicly. But on the flipside if he truly believes this it shows a clear lack of ability to evaluate talent on the defensive side of the ball and why we keep missing on crucial draft picks.
  7. If we are going to go after an injury prone RB I'd rather make a move for McCaffrey even though it would be yet another panther player.
  8. That was before the clown act and off the field baggage truly began and the Bills were obviously fortunate he chose the Raiders instead.
  9. If he truly has a grudge against the Patriots going to the Dolphins and winning the SB there would be the ultimate middle finger. But I would agree there are better options assuming he wants to suit up again.
  10. It's a loser mentality and Beane and McDermott truly believe that's why they lost the game they obviously weren't paying attention.
  11. TB is not going to screw Brady after what he did for that organization. If he wants to 'unretire' and play again this year they'll simply release him or trade him for a late round pick at his request. As for the talk of going to the Dolphins, you really have to wonder what's happening behind the scenes in their organization especially after the Flores/Watson fiasco and citing that as a reason he was fired.
  12. Maybe not in those words teef, but the reality is this regime is entering year 6 together. And history has shown very few NFL coaches win their first championship after 5 years with the same team (ironically Andy Reid is one of the few exceptions but basically took him landing a generational talent to take the next step). And when you look around the league and see teams like the Bengals go from first overall pick to the SB in just 3 years, why should McDermott and Beane get a pass? What makes them special exactly? It took one postseason appearance for Zac Taylor to do 2 things McDermott has not been able to do in 4 trips to there: Beat the chiefs in the playoffs and win a road playoff game (2 in this case). Like I've said all along, appreciating this regime for ending the drought and turning the franchise around but also realizing they might not be capable of getting to the next step are not mutually exclusive. And after 6 years it's not about 'trusting the process' anymore, it's about results. And with rumors floating that the Chiefs are primed for a big offseason despite making it to 4 consecutive conference championships, standing pat and signing bargain basement FA's and relying soley on the draft is just asking to get fired (assuming this is Beane's real plan).
  13. You are going to see more and more of this in the NFL in the coming years in terms of good young players riding off into the sunset during their prime for several reasons: 1) Not wanting to have long term health effects 2) Contracts are getting more absurd every year and if the player is smart he'll never have to work again after a first big FA contract or extension that usually comes in the mid 20's. 3) Feeling of accomplishment and closure for guys that win a championship before the age of 30. This is also why you can't look at teams like the bills and chiefs and assume they are going to be great for the next 10+ years because they will see similar attrition and players hanging it up early if they climb to the top of the mountain (chiefs already have done this once).
  14. Pretty lofty demands for a guy who was terrible down the stretch and was horrendous in the one playoff game he's appeared in during his career. Sure he could end up being a truly elite player in the coming years but I definitely wouldn't cave into his demands if I were the Cardinals and almost smells like another Deshawn Watson situation waiting to happen (minus the sexual assault stuff).
  15. At some point you really have to wonder when this team under the current regime is ever going to come out on the winning end of a game like this. In fact looking at McDermott's tenure, how many big time games has he really won? He's 0-4 in postseason road games, including 0-2 in overtime games and not even going to touch his career record against playoff teams since that's well documented in terms of how poorly it is. Like I've said all along, if I'm the Pegula's specifically I keep rewatching this game and sit both McDermott and Beane down this offseason with a clear message: Deliver in 2022 or we'll find someone else that can.
  16. Other than the money grab I'll never understand the NFL's fascination with playing international games. It's even worse than the Toronto series because these teams need to sacrifice not only a precious home game, but have to adjust to the time differences and challenges of playing thousands of miles away.
  17. Relevant to the Bills, I think you going to see an arms race on two fronts: 1) In the division - everyone knows they need to compete with the Bills and specifically Allen. I think the Dolphins have had a playoff caliber roster the last two years and are on the cusp of taking a big step if either Tua makes a leap or they do decide to look elsewhere. The Patriots and Belichik are already in the conversation and will likely be looking at add more weapons for Mac Jones with the idea he's also going to take a big step this year. 2) The rest of AFC - it starts and ends with KC and so far they are already in the process of freeing up tons of cap room to make a big splash and they have already been linked to some of the big name pass rushers on the market (likely the same ones that the Bills will need to make a serious run at if they are serious about competing for a SB). They will also likely be in the FA market for another WR. Other AFC teams that are a player or two away from making a big leap worth worth noting - Titans, Chargers, Broncos, Browns, Ravens, Colts, Raiders, Steelers This doesn't even include the AFC champion Bengals who really just need to make even a marginal improvements to their oline to be right back in the SB conversation next year. Long story short, there is going to be tremendous pressure on Beane and the Bills front office to make the right moves this offseason to stay in the division title picture, let alone the championship conversation.
  18. There's nothing false about this statement. Given where Edmunds was drafted (and fact we traded up for him too) he's been a bust and has been a major liability against the Chiefs and just about any team that can throw to the middle of the field. Some folks will keeping touting his age and upside but NFL LB's don't magically arrive after 4 or 5 years in the league. It's probably the easiest position to transition from out of college which is why teams keep finding star players at the position in the mid to late rounds. Best thing for both sides at this point is to move on while we can likely get good compensation in return and give Edmunds a chance to reach whatever potential he might have on a team and defense better suited for his ability which I still think is outside in a traditional 3-4 type of scheme.
  19. I've said all along there are two viable paths forward for Edmunds: 1) Trade him this offseason and possibly get as high as a 2nd round pick in return and/or a key veteran player at a position of need. 2) Move him to OLB Option 2 won't work in Buffalo because we aren't switching to a 3-4 and already committed to Milano which means he'd have to be traded to fit into that type of scheme and why option 1 is still most realistic. What concerns me the most is that this regime is steadfast in their determination to keep their draft picks and justify players even when they have not panned out or in Edmunds case underwhelmed and proven to be an inconsistent player who simply isn't a difference maker even during his 'good' games.
  20. Knox took a big step in year three similar to JA17, but I'm not sure I'd rush to sign him to a big extension just yet until I see more from him.
  21. At some point Diggs will likely demand ridiculous money (if it's not already happening behind the scenes). But you really have to wonder if his success is more about playing with Allen vs. the guy that was drafted to replace him in MN who is a superstar with some serious raw talent putting up crazy numbers with the same QB Diggs couldn't produce with.
  22. If this ST unit was truly making game changing plays on a regular basis you can justify these type of moves. But in reality this was a mostly poor unit all year with inconsistency across the board and it all culminated in the gaffe against the Chiefs which ended the season. If we move on from guys like Matekevich and Jones than this move isn't bad at all, but if we are doubling down on ST only type of guys it's another indictment on this regime in terms of their vision for a how a team should be built in today's NFL.
  23. People say he's a marketing genius, but let's be serious and for real here....selling Football to the greater Buffalo and western NY region is like selling alcohol at a bar and restaurant. In other words not that hard.
  24. I don't understand the fans that keep bringing up Taylor and Fitzpatrick as viable backups. From Taylor's standpoint, he already played for this regime and they moved on from him. And yes kudos for him being here during the drought breaking season but he's proven definitively he's not an NFL starting QB. As for Fitzpatrick, as others have mentioned the main reason I would not want him back is the bad luck teams seem to have with him including the Bills in terms of starters getting hurt and he inevitably plays meaningful games. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if he just retires though even if the bills or other teams are interested.
  25. If you are talking about a window of being competitive with a franchise QB than you are probably right. But this team's (current) SB window is pretty much these next few years. Same deal as the Chiefs despite some of their fanbase's delusional beliefs but also why they are gearing up to go all in this year as well. It's truly an arms race this offseason between the Chiefs and Bills (You can probably add the Bengals, Pats and Ravens to the mix as well) and hopefully the Pegula's have already set the expectation that in year six there is no more 'process'. It's now about delivering a championship or time to move on.
