  1. Me, too. Take Creed, and let Mitch ride off into the sunset while his brain still functions.
  2. In the Wizard of One Bills Drive I trust!! He's not going to do something crazy. He never has. He's making calls. That's what GMs do.
  3. These NFL "insiders" have a pretty sweet gig. If they're right, they take all the credit. If they're wrong, then it was the source's fault. And if you want them to prove there was a source, they claim they're journalists and that they don't reveal their sources. If this story is true, then it's Beane trying to coax the Jets and Jags (and any other weak-minded franchise) into picking RBs in the 1st round, pushing the rest of the board down to #30.
  4. You've got an interesting take, CD. And I agree that a salary cap alone could potentially promote parity. But it would have to include fully guaranteed contracts. Otherwise, every current player would become more and more paranoid that they could be cut at any moment for a younger, cheaper "recruit". And that's how it would work. Teams would be going behind their players' backs to try to find cheaper alternatives. If you ask me, the anxiety that that would cause the players is far worse than forcing them to play somewhere for 4 years. One more thing. Let's not forget that the NFL is made up of 32 raving egomaniac billionaire owners. None of them are going to be able to stomach being outbid by the others. So one of the functions of the draft is to protect the owners from themselves, i.e. to help prevent any internal friction from getting out of control.
  5. What does the rest of the world have to do with the NFL? Make your point with the subject at hand, or move on.
  6. This thread is one of the dumbest in recent memory. But I guess that's what we do as we count the hours until Thursday night. The draft has been around for decades, and the players have been fine with it for decades, because they know that without it their cash cow dies a quick death. The draft provides hope for the bottom dwelling franchises, allowing their fans to at least feel that they might contend in a few years, by building a team of talent at the top of the board. Without the draft, players would gravitate to only warm weather cities, with owners who have bottomless checkbooks, and the league would become defunct within 5 years.
  7. Any other year, and Ertz would be possible. But I think the cap hit just doesn't work right now. That's why they went with the cheaper option of Hollister, instead.
  8. Am I alone in thinking that last year's virtual draft was far superior to any on-site one they've ever put on? Watching hordes of unmasked people hiding in the kitchen during live shots of players, to avoid the covid cops. Who was the guy who put on the Old Spice robe after he got drafted? And Joe Burrow sitting there with only his parents? He must be a ball of fun, huh? And even dorky Roger in his panelled Hell of a basement! It took me back to my early college days, and the disgusting subterranean apartment I was forced to rent. It's amazing what $44 million doesn't buy these days. Anyway, I thought it was tremendous. I wish they'd do the same every year. But then these cities need the influx of fan cash more than ever now.
  9. NO ONE in the NFC was in the market for a LT rental?? REALLY????
  10. It made him look like The Great Gazoo... But it probably made him millions by extending his career by multiple years! Look whose bank account is laughing now!!
  11. No one knows what's going to happen, not even Beane and his Dream Team, because it all depends on how things roll in the draft. If JOK or someone else they really like falls into the 20s, he'll probably try to trade up. On the other hand, if the draft gets to #30 and there's nobody on their board at a position of need that rates being a 1st rounder, maybe they try to trade back. It all depends on who gets picked where.
  12. Thanks, DCOrange! These are the opinions that matter. Not the network/internet blowhards.
  13. If I were pulling the triggers next weekend, I'd stay put and take BPA at positions of need with every pick. But I trust the reigning Executive of the Year and his FO Dream Team implicitly. I'll get behind any move/pick they feel is needed.
  14. Anyway, Rosen doesn't get a pass, just because he was drafted and/or traded into a bad situation. Almost all highly touted QBs have to deal with it, because the teams that suck the most get to pick first. That's the nature of the draft. Those who have the intangibles (patience, leadership, belief in team building, etc.) persevere. Those who don't fall by the wayside.
  15. Nope. As soon as I saw that Tower of Power standing tall and fearless in the pocket in Wyoming, Allen became my man crush.
  16. A true miracle of modern medicine! He and Bridgewater are proof that career-ending injuries are happening less and less often. But it takes a guy with tremendous fortitude to come back from what he faced. Enjoy life, Mr. Smith! And go easy on that leg.
  17. Covid will not be an issue, because everybody in a position to breathe on an NFL player will be vaccinated. And we've got a full offseason and 3 preseason games to see what Fromm can do on the field. Let's wait and see.
  18. I can only watch Florio on Fridays, when Simms is off on his 3-day weekends. I just can't take his drunken sailor speaking style. That, and he doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does.
  19. Please nothing more that's going to interrupt Ed's development as a playmaking 3-tech. The Bills criticize the UofH coaching staff for playing Oliver in the 1-tech role for most of his college career, then proceed to do the exact same thing in what is year 2 of his career, arguably the most important to a player's development. I know they'll say they had no choice, due to Star's opt-out + some injuries. But I would've signed King Kong Bundy off the street to play 1-tech, before I moved Ed to there. The Bills need 1-techs in this draft, perhaps one of the top in round 2 and then another sneaky good one on day 3. Anything to make sure they never play Ed there again!
  20. This reminds me of the time Jay Cutler conned $10 million out of the Dolphins.
