  1. I gave you a point for having the resilience to locate this ancient thread. Now how do I take a point away for dredging it up again to begin with? Duke became a dying breed when Davis and Hodgins were drafted 15 months ago.
  2. Just wanted to confirm that @ColoradoBills is correct. All players on the roster at the start of the regular season (including those on IR, PUP and PS) count against the cap. The only ones who don't are those on the commissioner's exempt list. So, the Texans are about to get $35mil in Watson's salary removed from their cap.
  3. 100% - I'm thinking that it was Josh's personality traits that attracted Beane and Co. the most. Of course I'm sure the howitzer arm and overall strength of a bull didn't hurt, either. 😄
  4. It's rare to find a QB with the physical talent that Josh possesses. It's also rare to find one with the burning desire to be the best of the best. But the rarest of them all is to find both in the same QB. How lucky are we to have found this unicorn?
  5. If the defense and running game up their game from last year, it will look like Josh has, too, when in fact he's just able to be more efficient. It all goes hand in hand.
  6. Losing Roberts has to be the biggest risk. All others were replaced adequately. Maybe Stevenson can make a splash. But rookie returners are usually good for 3-4 muffs during the season. C'mon, Virg! Have you even given Mitch's boogie a chance??
  7. Exactly! Which is greater? Ben's # of lbs, or the # of times he one-hops his receivers in 2021?
  8. You might as well list all of the takes. After #1, I'm not going to waste my time watching the video. Allen's rushing yards will continue to drop every year. This ain't 2018.
  9. It gets better than that. If they win, you get to say that they are learning how to win as a team. And if they lose, you get to rationalize that it was because they were playing all of their younger, bottom-of-the-roster players to get them playing time, so who cares if they lost. So no matter what, you get to feel good about it. I rarely get to see games live, unless it's the Sunday at 1:00 regular season variety. So I'm not giving my cable company any more of my $$$ for the NFL Network. I'm contemplating giving them $0, and getting rid of cable altogether.
  10. 1. Brady never saw a league rule he felt he needed to follow. I can't wait until he's retired, and our great national nightmare is over. 2. The reporting of player injuries is a service by the NFL to the gambling world (even before gambling was encouraged!). Vegas needs to know the details, so they can adjust the point spreads accordingly. And degenerate gamblers, present company excluded, need the same to determine how much of their kid's college fund gets bet every week.
  11. EP-EN-ES-A!!! I was living in southern Minnesota during his entire college career, and every Iowa game was front and center on our tube every week. And as I watched him on the field and on the sidelines, I kept saying to myself, "Man, that guy would make the perfect Bill!" So I was thrilled that he dropped to #54 last April, and Beane and Co. agreed with me. I give a pass to any rookie who struggled out of the gate last year, with no prep for the season. AJ was turning things around by the last half of the season, and that will continue this year.
  12. You did, so we are sympatico in the end. What I was reacting to was the previous sentence: "And Tomlin / Steeler are also kinda on the hot seat." To me, being on the hot seat means that there's at least a decent chance of getting canned. And the last time the Steelers fired a head coach was 52 years ago. If Tomlin decided that he only wanted to be a HC for a few more years, then retire, then I could see him looking for a better chance at another ring somewhere else. But if he's still in it for the long haul, there's no more stable situation (one that virtually guarantees employment) in all of sports than the Steelers, even with a rebuild/retool right around the corner.
  13. We love you, Shady! You'll be a legend in Buffalo for life. But the only way you're getting on that Bills sideline is by standing next to Jim Kelly in civvies, cheering our current boys on. The time has come.
  14. This guy is on the path to becoming Johnny Manziel's back-up. (I'll give you 5 minutes to Google which league he's trying to play for these days.)
  15. These are the threads that us out-of-staters hate the most (even more than an Ertz thread!). I'm proud to be a WNYer. I just wish I could be one in person right now.
  16. Quick, name the last Steelers HC to get fired. It just doesn't happen. The Rooneys pick the right guy for their organization, then they give him a few decades to settle into the job. I will grant you that it is surprising that they don't really have a good back-up plan if Ben falls off a cliff. Rudolph or Haskins is no way to live. But I'm guessing that Tomlin won't get the blame, if that happens. GM Kevin Colbert probably would. Or the Rooneys might just chalk it up to bad juju, and move on. The Pegulas picked keepers as GM and HC, so hopefully they're trying to bring that kind of stability to this team, as well.
  17. This is a "prove it" year for Knox, Hollister and Sweeney. Let's stop all the shiny new FA TE nonsense, and let them prove it! (See, @DJB, I didn't use the E word!)
  18. THIS^^^^^^^ I've heaped praise upon the Pegulas in this forum for preventing this team from becoming the Toronto Rockers in October of 2014, and keeping my beloved hometown team in my beloved hometown. So I must do the same for Mr. Wilson for the previous 60 years. I hope he's getting a kick out of watching Josh ball out from that great luxury box in the sky.
  19. Now THIS is an offseason thread for the ages!! Thank you, @Alphadawg7, for breathing a desperately needed tail wind into the dreaded pre-training camp doldrums that is mid-July. All the best to you and your gal. She sounds like a keeper! 😉
