  1. Agreed - The Bills will let him off with a warning with a first offense. I'd be stunned if the league office did that, though.
  2. Now HIM I miss! He couldn't stand the Jets...
  3. Three games. Serious enough for four, but 1st offense knocks it down one. And I hope he doesn't appeal. We can do without him against the Jets, Dolphins and Rams. ?
  4. Is the Jets fan board really that bad? Or did they just put you in time-out?
  5. Tell him you'll get back to him after Week 15.
  6. It's all about masks. If everyone wore them, we'd be fine by now. But right now, it's about 50-50.
  7. Right? Don't show up unconscious to an ER, or they'll stitch that thing up! ?
  8. Nice!! Thanks for posting it. BTW, how about the shot of that leap at the 1:05 mark??? WOW!!!!! And we thought the leap over Barr was impressive?
  9. No I was responding to your suggestion that his fate depends on a judge. I'm pretty sure you were kidding. But, regardless of what happens in a court of law, the NFL will make sure he pays a price, by way of a lengthy suspension. He deserves all forms of repercussions coming his way. I'm old enough to remember the days of Cincy DB Pacman Jones "making it rain" in a strip club, then beating the crap out of any stripper who dared pick up the money. But since he wisely chose to do it in the Cincinnati area, the Bengal fan jury voted not guilty in 10 minutes. At the time, the NFL was getting crushed in the PR dept, but Sheriff Goodell put an end to that as soon as he became commish by making league disciplinary actions totally separate from criminal or civil court proceedings.
  10. According to an earlier post, he's made at least one Pro Bowl. But you're right, I'm not sure "star" and "kicker" should ever be used in the same sentence.
  11. Nope. The NFL hasn't left it up to local judges and juries in years. They drop their own hammer of justice now.
  12. The Pegulas should sell the Sabres, and use the money to sign Beane to a 20 year extension. My biggest fear is that he'll be the next Carolina GM, and we'll go back to the jokers who draft RBs in the top 10.
  13. The reason why Kaepernick isn't in the league is because 4 years ago his downside (anthem protest massive distraction) suddenly outweighed his upside (mediocre play at QB). If any team signs him now, it will be because of the positive PR they might get from the new legions of protest supporters (i.e. a new upside). But the new downside is that he'll be even more mediocre now.
  14. I think this is a good call. Every effort is going to need to be made to prevent ANY infections. Football is the most dangerous sport to play during a pandemic, given its close contact nature of play. At the very least, every helmet will have to have a full face shield inside the face mask. And maybe other face coverings will be needed. And the coaching staffs are going to have to be huge a-holes about policing the wearing of masks among the players. I'm in eastern Virginia, and about 1 out of every 3 people here are wearing masks in public, indoors, even though the governor has mandated it. All businesses have the sign on the door stating "no one will be admitted without a face covering", but not one is enforcing it. The NFL better be smarter than that, or the season is screwed.
  15. Agreed. The NFL is king. The owners used replacement players during the strike of '87, and the players came crawling back in a month (and there's been labor peace ever since). Rules change every year without a second thought. They could make it a 60 player roster for this year only, to account for losses of players to the virus. If there's reduced or no fans in the stands, they'll probably force the networks to renegotiate their broadcast contracts, since viewership will probably be 20-30% higher than ever before. The TV people are already terrified that King NFL will go to an all-streaming platform any day now, anyway. One way or another, there'll be a full season. And the owners won't be taking a pay cut.
  16. One more thing: the helmet he was carrying was his own. He was not trying to return a police helmet as a conscientious, law-abiding citizen would do (as the media would have you believe). He was carrying his own helmet in his hand. For what purpose? That's why his words are important. To explain his intentions.
  17. Seriously? Peaceful protester???? Did you not see his Jun 3rd tweet provided earlier in this string? That doesn't sound like he's all that peaceful toward the police. His twitter profile boasts that he's been arrested 4 times in the recent past, which suggests a history of incidents with the police. Which is not to say that this police force knew all that ahead of time. My point is that we should have all the facts, if we're going to start making judgements about people's motives. Do your own research. Don't rely on media spin for your knowledge.
  18. Does anybody know for certain what was said by Mr. Gugino to the police? If he was pleading for restraint on their part, their reaction was WAY out of line. If he was making a direct or even indirect threat, then maybe the shove was understandable, in the heat of the moment. It all boils down to what was said.
  19. This. He doesn't play the position. That'd be like ranking Foles among the WRs, because he caught a TD pass in a Super Bowl.
  20. Amen, brother/sister! We need some Bills positivity back in our lives. And I'll take 66% over 66 mph any day. Which doesn't mean he can't get there. I just mean a 70 yard bomb doesn't count unless it gets completed.
  21. "The Patriot Way" probably goes something like this: "If you want to win a Super Bowl, come sign with us. But you'll have to take less salary to make it work. Here we focus on the team over the individual." THAT'S the secret to the NE dynasty. Tom Brady's average cap hit over his 20 years in NE was just under $12,000,000. It probably would've been twice that anywhere else. And he's just the most prominent example. Almost every quality Patriot over the past 20 years was underpaid. And they're roster was solid to dominant every year. Belichick gets away with it, because he's Belichick: a winning GM/coach, but an ####### with a heart of stone, and everybody knows it. Anybody else, and the players would tell him to go pound sand. Nowadays, a team's window to win it all is around 2-3 years, after they're drafted QB learns the ropes and before his $35,000,000 a year contract hits. After that, it's time to poach the rest of the NFL's teams' practice squads and sign UDFAs to fill out the roster. So the Chiefs have this year to win it all again. Then they're done. Mahomes will get his 40/year, and will always keep them close, but their OL and defense will be swiss cheese. The Bills and Ravens have 2 more years. Bottom line: the way QB salaries have skyrocketed these days PREVENTS any future "dynasties". Unless your GM is a con man like Belichick.
