  1. small sample size, gonna say he is better than Dawson Knox - a higher floor for sure, maybe Knox ceiliing can be higher but we keep waiting, waiting for that, and other than 1-2 spectacular plays the drops outweigh those
  2. when the days highlight is a long snapper being re-signed, its time to dig a litter deeper to feed us barnyard animals...from spotrac Initial 53-Man #NFL Rosters by Draft Round 1st Rounders: 263 2nd Rounders: 223 3rd Rounders: 226 4th Rounders: 184 5th Rounders: 146 6th Rounders: 138 7th Rounders: 94 Undrafted: 415 - So what was the effect of the pandemic ? Hmmm...the bottom of the draft rounds 4-5-6-7 add up to 562 Notable #NFL Cutdown Notes of the 415 UDFAs (24%) made an initial 53-man roster. 90 of those were signed this year. The #Patriots released all of their backup QBs. The #Lions released all of their kickers. The #Jets retained $1.2M of Chris Herndon’s salary when trading him to MIN. Players added to the Reserve/IR can be designated to return in 3 weeks - (Stevenson's speedy return, to in turn, intern as return-er) There’s no limit to how many players a team can designate. Should he sign elsewhere, Cam Newton will likely be offered a $1.075M league minimum salary. The #Patriots will then owe him just $425,000 of his original $1.5M guaranteed salary, as offset language kicks in. BB that bat rastard strikes again... Finally...The Athletic is running a sale, check it out, the content is really good for both our teams, locally (Joe B and others) and Sabres coverage by former BN legend John Vogel...plus national coverage is excellent and you get all sports, and baseball gods Gammons, Posnanski and tons of ex SI, ESPN, etc... Lastly - 10 mins of 2020 drone video over our city of 260k with a metro pop of 1.31M.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRuumTVOxdg enjoy whilst the PS squads fill....
  3. mildly surprised about Holister as well. but cannot argue the results of that 4 wide-spread O, + Sanders who they loved for years, adding some diversity like passes to RBs 1:1 in the flat, and slants and curls all of which is likely more productive than increasing the role of mediocre TEs and those drops...Beane may not be making waiver claims this week and the PS squad will have its constant-key members like QB, CB, OL, etc but it also is very fluid during the season with cuts and adds
  4. I should have said...the only thing new is the history WE dont know....not meant to criticize or get personal as that is a saying a trivia-history oriented person like myself uses...
  5. the only thing new is the history you dont know... second to the immortal Bruce in career team sacks NFL Draft:2001 / Round: 2 / Pick: 46 Career history Buffalo Bills (2001–2009) Total tackles:483 Sacks:78.0 Forced fumbles:19 Fumble recoveries:8 Interceptions:3 Defensive touchdowns:1 Schobel earned his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2006. His best season as a pro came in 2006 when he posted a career high 14 sacks. Schobel, a first team alternate for the 2007 Pro Bowl, was called upon to relieve an injured Jason Taylor in the Pro Bowl. This was his second consecutive year in the Pro Bowl. He started in 116 consecutive games with the Bills from 2003 until 2008, when he was on the inactive list for a game against the San Diego Chargers due to an injured foot. After a team-leading, 10-sack 2009 season, Schobel informed the Bills that he was considering retirement. To add on, new coach Gailey said that he was looking to switch from a 4-3 to 3-4 defense It was reported by the Buffalo News on May 10, 2010 that Schobel & his wife June had sold their Orchard Park house, further adding to the speculation of his impending departure from the Bills. On July 27, 2010 Aaron Schobel announced he was 70/30 on returning to the Bills. On August 4, 2010, the Buffalo Bills released Aaron Schobel. He never signed with any other team; being released instead cemented his decision to retire, which he did on August 16.
  6. and so was Cam Lewis (CB) from the Bills, likely PS pickup unless he gets goosed by our 6th rounder who was cut as well, which would be...wild
  7. for a dude from Miami to complain about the heat in the 716 qualifies him for an AARP membership, does he eat dinner at 345 PM ?
  8. guy I work with is a long-time Pats season tix holder, we are talking decades, is very happy to hear that Cam is gone, he was not happy they signed him to begin with an used the word SUCKS when we would talk about Cam...Pats do have a lot of dead cap space, so if they get those pricey FA vets injured they have less flex this season
  9. 4 year vets are excluded from waivers and are automatic free agents, has played well enough in a key position to get more guaranteed money, more than the $135k he signed for, mutually beneficial...another wise move by the front office to open a slot, then IR a keeper for short-term and then bring Holister back after that happens
  10. well Murray is 1-0 versus Josh, so he technically is one up...until we meet again...
  11. meh, Kyle Shanahan is a top 5 coach ? over Tomlin or Pete Carroll ?
  12. two rookies - two second year sophomores in the league -five nfl vets who have been with us 1-2 year max - and Taiwan and Siran are your most experienced Bills ST going on third years more or less...
  13. 1. optics 2. what are things teams do when working to trade a valuable asset for a hundred Alex 3. Taiwan Jones catch on third-and-long with Milano making a poor coverage play, the bomb to DiMarco, going to the Duke in the crunch...we've come a long, long way and learned a lot from that...
  14. good points...but all HC are defensive coaches so lets see how they do with the qb position...the Bills qb has the highest ceiling....could 3 teams make the playoffs out of the AFC East this season ? not likely but possible... got to credit with how and quick Miami rebuilt, tho what helped them was that stupid trade with Hou where they received an over-abundance of high draft picks, the floor is high with Tua, but wonder about the ceiling...hate to say it but BB is going to be a tough out with the usual top D... he went free agent shopping they had a very good draft, they likely found that accurate-proficient-error free qb that BB requires....
  15. a good, positive, dude. beyond the football jock talk which he did well, he embraced the 716, it was mutually beneficial and he will be missed, hard for someone to come in just before the opener and hit the ground running....best to marcel and thanks for feeding us barnyard animals and being one of us...
  16. it was either cut Johnson or Obada and get nothing for them or take what the market offers, Panthers needed someone better than current roster offers to get back the 5 sacks they lost cutting Obada, plus some special teams play; Bills get 5+ sacks from Obada not likely to get from Johnson and likely Gilliam take Johnson spot on ST
  17. there is the media's extrapolation of the coaches presser, based on training camp reps and there is the fans consumption of same, which in tends to over-analyze, sensantionalize (see Rodgers Aaron GM wannabe comments) , etc ,bottom of the roster players, Jake K was cut by the Pack, the Bills and the Saints, so he his on his fourth chance in one year. the glass is half-full in that he is getting chances, but its half-empty in that he is bottom-half of anyone receiving core, and really wont move up unless better receiver(s) are hurt...he is this board's new posterboy replacing Duke Williams...
  18. I think this move bodes well for Taiwan Jones, the Bills value ST, coaches say he is an elite gunner, has a 700k dead cap issue that they save by not cutting and re-signing as compared to Phillips cut and resign for less than 200k and can be placed on IR for a couple week (still in a knee brace)...Obada wins out, gets 5+ sacks, leaves as over-priced FA at age 30, trends to Bills get FA comp pick
  19. harken back to the old days when the weekly "card" featuring the teams and the point spread was all there was to betting, it made you feel like you part of the network, the underground, and some would say what you are doing is illegal and you could be arrested, esp if you win, so dont say where you got the card from..and a tie meant you lost...the daze of mis-spent youth and a few lost dollars
  20. another reason to luv Fitz and his cave-mountain-trapper-explorer- Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal-man look...hopeful he comes back to be Josh backup someday soon so he can retire as a Bill with a super bowl ring at which point i would seek him out during the victory parade downtown and bear hug him, take selfie, shake hand, ramble on in drunken stupor about our love for him, our team, our city, our fans, etc, etc
  21. gonna suck in this season of high expectations if this issue has weekly updates as if the injury reports arent enough...sigh
  22. no field goals, no way...also many fond memories of many glorious sunny September Sundays of BIlls games when living on the Niagara Frontier, but I guess the Steelers brought their gloomy weather...Dusty Baker (baseball manager) has said many a time that it always starts to rain come game time in Pitts...
  23. its happened...once.....the legendary Rob "I need a job" Bohlinger... https://americanfootballdatabase.fandom.com/wiki/Rob_Bohlinger
