  1. There are potentially billions in gambling revenue at stake. If that is put into contention then the owners will be forced to consider options for improvement.
  2. Eventually a notable player or coach will eat the fine and say something along the line of “IDK. Maybe the refs bet on the game.” That’ll cause a total ***** show which might result in a sky judge. Until then…. It is what it is.
  3. So many of those better NFC teams are stacked with aging vets and lack depth due to roster construction. A few injuries could derail most of them. Just look at the Rams and Packers last year with Donald and Bakhtiari. By contrast most of the top AFC teams appear to have better depth and/ fewer injury prone guys at critical positions. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out over a 17 game season.
  4. It allows Morse to assist either guard based on matchups and play call as opposed to constantly helping an overmatched Ford. It makes the combination blocks more effective and unpredictable which helps the big boys get to the second level.
  5. The issue I have is that OPI is rarely called, and almost never on these plays unless it’s ridiculously obvious and the blocker wiping out a defender 5+ yards downfield before the ball arrives.
  6. Folks need to stop viewing Gilliam as a TE. The guy is a 6 foot flat, 245 pound FB/H-back that can be moved around to create a numbers advantage in the running/screen game. He’s here to block and play special teams, not catch passes. Now, I’m sure he’ll have a few pass catching opportunities on big downs in his career, but it’ll be a surprise to everyone just like it was when Daboll would draw up a play for Lee Smith.
  7. You may have just summed up my ex in three sentences. Only thing missed was specifically carrot cake “without walnuts” 😂
  8. Both of these guys (Epenesa too) are shrinking the zones for the other players on defense. It’s a part of how the pass defense looks improved without changing the scheme or secondary players. I’m not going to be surprised at all if there ends up being a pick six from a DB or LBer when a QB tries to float one over Groot or Epenesa.
  9. Gonna be interesting to watch the firings at the end of the season.
  10. I have the feeling that the Jaguars might dump Urban after this year and go hard after Daboll or Bienemy.
  11. They went with a lot more 21, 12, and even a few plays of 22 personnel. Not a lot of room for Beasley when you only put 1-2 WRs on the field. Less room when the WRs they’re leaving on the field are capable blockers, deep threats or runners.
  12. Not concerned yet. This team may not have a top edge rusher, but as a collective they’re shutting down the run and forcing QBs into bad decisions. They’re second in the league in INTs and first in total turnovers. I’ll take an interception over a sack every game.
  13. I suspect it’s largely a result of KC being in contention with the Bills for home field advantage.
  14. The district could likely fund a few programs with yearly sales from Allen merch. 😂
  15. I’m not concerned yet. I think Groot has to find a few counter moves and expand his pass rush repertoire. We should also keep in mind that as bad as the Texans are they do have two first round picks at the tackle spots in Tunsil and Howard.
  16. Plus he got to see what old man Favre looked like on Monday mornings.
  17. Tyler Linderbaum would be perfect. Stick him at guard for a year then bump him over when Morse’s contract expires. Kid an athletic dog that brings pain to the second level.
  18. The guy’s pushing 40, and he’s broken his collarbone twice like that. Dude knows they have a playoff team if he’s healthy…. No need to risk a super bowl run for an out of conference game that won’t influence playoff standing much when you’re in a division with the Bears, Lions, and Vikings. Particularly when you’re up two scores against a pigeon armed QB that’s turned the ball over twice. We’d all be livid as heck right now if Allen had suffered a season ending injury against an NFC opponent running for a first down while up two scores. Additionally, when J Allen is 38 would you rather have him playing like Rodgers & Brady…. or Roethlisberger? All those hits and tough man play adds up over the years. 🤷‍♂️
  19. Pretty good, but they have to make it through the whole season playing well. They dropped off down the stretch last year, and they’ll need to prove that doesn’t happen again once teams have more tape, injuries pile up, etc.
  20. 68 DD to 19 Tim hortons to be exact
  21. It’s been going on for a while. Usually requires an accurate QB and a good TE though. KC exploits this against Edmunds, as did Fitz and Gesicki. Brady did as well until Gronk retired.
  22. He shrinks the other zones in coverage and it’s difficult to throw over the top of him. His instincts become an issue against the better offenses and QBs though. Coordinator’s can force him to choose between receiving options, and the better QBs can drop the ball in the bucket behind him like Allen did to Fred Warner last year. The latter is particularly evident when he bites on play action. To be fair though, less competent offenses do tend to avoid his area due to his length and range. Honestly, I don’t think we’re having this discussion of Edmunds was still making splash plays like his rookie season. One has to wonder why though, and the OP is a great starting point for a closer look.
  23. Same here, but then I moved out of western NY. Really the only way to have them cooked correctly out of town unless you’re lucky to find a great place or a joint run by a transplant.
