  1. Absolutely, correct about Rodgers having a right to be miffed about a replacement being drafted (most players would be), and them scrapping the bottom of the barrel in FA for WRs…. which is what happens when your 38y/o QB has a $40MM cap hit while you’re paying market value to an all pro LT and and all pro edge rusher. If Rodgers wants Brady toys he might want to take Brady money so it’s a viable option. To be blunt, they’ve already catered to Rodgers by giving him a new head coach, new GM, and a new contract while all the “disappointing defensive drafts” were happening. If you rewind to 6-7 years ago he was complaining about the defense…. They fired Dom Capers, brought in Pettine, and focused on bolstering the defensive talent. The packers board is probably sick of his *****, which is a likely reason for them OK’ing the Love pick. He comes across as one of those folks who complains that the soups cold, sends it back, then complains because the soups too hot.
  2. Jordan Love aside, they added 5 offensive players in last years draft along with Funchess and Austin in FA. Year before that was very weak offensively, but they added a starting guard in FA and nabbed Elgton Jenkins in the draft who made the probowl last year. They certainly haven’t gone all in like the Bucs did after acquiring Brady, but Rodgers was playing with more talent than most other QBs… two all pros and a probowler on the offensive line, all pro WR, pro bowl RB, and a TE that should have been in the probowl. There aren’t many teams he could go to who have more talent on that side of the ball, especially teams that are saddled with a top end QB contract.
  3. I think people underestimate how difficult it is to master every coverage technique. There’s maybe one corner a decade who can come close to pulling that off, and it usually takes them half a career to do so. Then… they have to stay healthy and play in different schemes. Gilmore’s the closest right now. Charles Woodson when he was in GB was likely the best recent example. Both of those guys had serious issues with some of the zone concepts employed by Belichick and Capers when they transitioned, but they had the mental attitude and drive to home their craft. We’ll see how Tre develops, but he’ll never be as physically gifted as some of the guys who specialize and excel in press man.
  4. Could be ETN. Could be Landon Dickerson. Could be on of the CBs. I’m sure Beane has called around and checked on who might be willing to trade and for what value. Given the track record he may very well trade up for certain guys. In any case, I’ll reserve judgement until the rookie plays.
  5. I was thinking more along the line of how he was utilized on the Vikings with him and Kevin Williams rotating 1 tech responsibilities while Pat W was usually the one doubled. IMO, Williams matured after he got paid. Oliver is certainly capable of playing the Kevin Williams role. But, you’re absolutely correct. As far as run stuffers go he was more Jeremiah Ratliff than Casey Hampton - NTs I know, but the play style comparison fits.
  6. Pat Williams. Ed Oliver and T Edmunds would improve immediately with Pat Williams eating doubles and driving centers into QBs. The run D would improve instantly.
  7. My interest in the draft has waned due to Covid. For the first time in a while I just couldn’t get into watching college football. I’m sure part of that is moving back to NY which just have a different type of sports fan than down south. All of the opt outs also took some of the allure away. That said, I’m all in for the draft, especially rounds 2-7 and the subsequent UDFA signings.
  8. Best I ever heard was “My lord, you’ve been blessed with a touch of the downs.”
  9. Allen is an archetypal underdog story this country loves. Coupled with his personality and play style, it’s going to bode well for him with regards to fans and endorsements as his career progresses.
  10. Not even close. Travis Henry’s record may never be broken by a Bills player.
  11. I’d say the real test comes when the FO talent starts getting poached. A lot of teams drop off after they lose top executives to other teams. That also tends to coincide with second QB contracts.
  12. Hands down the drunkest fan base I ever saw was Packers fans at home games in Milwaukee in the 90’s. Those cats could drink, and the beer prices in the stadium were so low that the drinking didn’t slow down during the game. As for Arrowhead.... saw the craziest parking lot event in my life there. Chiefs/Raiders.... They torched a Raiders fans car in the lot with road flares. 😯
  13. Beane can go BPA because this roster doesn’t have any glaring holes. No other GM in the division has that luxury right now. The Jets and Phins also don’t have the luxury of taking high ceiling developmental prospects of they want to improve this season. This Bills roster can do just that since we’re in a position to draft for the future at most positions. plus.... Allen. We have the best QB in the AFCE, and arguably the second best QB in the entire AFC.... Even if opponents hit on a QB in the draft it will take several years for them to compete at the QB position in this division with McD, Darth Hoodie, Saleh, and Flores scheming defenses.
  14. The one big edge that Singletary has on Moss with pass blocking is his ability to jump cut and plant. There were a few plays this season where the kid jumped across 2-3 gaps, planted, and picked up a blitzer. It’s damn impressive, and if he can build on it could have him taking more passing snaps even with the drops. As for Moss.... well, there was a reason that I was harping about him being the best pass blocking RB in the draft last year.
  15. Don’t see the immediate need. This team is solid at tackle, so he’d be guard competition while grooming to play tackle. That said, I’m always happy with linemen being picked on either side of the ball.
  16. Brown would be a great fit, especially as a guy to learn for a year under Diggs and Sanders. He’s fast although not a pure burner, but the kid can vary speed on deep routes to twist DBs. He has a knack for throttling up and down to set up a DB before high pointing the ball. He’s also not afraid to truck a safety to get a first down. Needs to work on routes, but he’s talented. His personality would also fit well into the locker room.... he along with Carter and Williams have that shut up and out work the competition mindset.
  17. I’ll stick with land banking.
  18. Some folks have a switch where they can turn the crazy on and off.... Others don’t. The guys in the later camp often don’t perform well when they’re behaved off the field as they lose their edge completely. A Smith is likely one of those guys which is why I’d pass unless he signed cheap enough to throw away, especially since he’s older now.
  19. If they’d have grabbed Orakpo instead of Maybin that would be an all time great draft for this team... four pro bowlers with the first four picks.
  20. I’m well aware. I posted about him a fair amount this time last year. My point was that what these guys do in college doesn’t necessarily provide a clear view of how they’ll be used in the NFL... Gruden tried to use Bowden as a RB, and bailed on that effort.
  21. Seahawks Packers NFC championship game modern enough? https://youtu.be/s6aIKpam2xI
  22. Williams intrigues me. He’s one of those guys that didn’t quite perform up to his talent level in college, and I’ve never been able to figure out exactly why. It has me wondering if he just picked the wrong colleges, was slow to develop, or just got stuck behind elite talent at Ohio State and NC: JK Dobbins, Javante Williams, Michael Carter, etc. IIRC, his measurables were pretty similar to Zack Moss. Gonna be interesting to see how he does in camp and preseason.
  23. Bottom line is that Levi has fought for and kept his job. The kid just sticks and plays up to the competition of usurpers. That raises everyone’s game.
