  1. The Double A gap comes from Fritz Shurmur. Jim Johnson learned it (along with the big nickel) from him in Arizona. It’s a 4-3 variation of Shurmur’s “eagle defense”. LeBeau started incorporating it when the Steelers got Kevin Greene. It’s actually kind of fascinating to track the evolution of some of these schemes.
  2. My dream is that the phins trade all their assets for the guy, wreck Tua’s confidence, then the FBI investigation makes the whole thing a catastrophic trade for Miami.
  3. For sure. Mahomes cannot hit the deep out with the same strength and trajectory as JA. That a serious metric for arm strength. Mahomes is #2 there.
  4. It’s easier to connect on those when you have a receiver who can outrun everyone to open green and a TE who can win contested catches like no other. The combination creates space on its own. That said, we’ll see if Allen makes another developmental leap.
  5. Billion dollar corporations generally pick up the phone for other billion dollar corporations. Chapek will pick up if Pegula calls.
  6. Peppers was definitely a better natural athlete. What’s interesting was where his game went when a bit of that athleticism started to fade (Bears/Packers). He started utilizing his length more to make plays. It was an evolution of a wiley veteran. Now, I’m not sure how much of that was him switching to a two point stance and needing to utilize length because the leverage points changed. It’s absolutely worth watching some of those Bears and Packers highlights to see how Rousseau can dominate with length; dragging down RBs from behind while running the arc, tipped passes, etc. Thing is though, Rousseau needs to develop some counter moves in order to maximize his length as a weapon.
  7. IMO. More like an extremely raw Julius Peppers when he slimmed down to play in a 3-4. The sack and play after you can see repeatedly in Peppers highlights. 🤞🏼 that this kid develops into something remotely close to that.
  8. Exactly. Getting that level of production would be decent value for a late second round pick. I doubt anyone would have complained much about Lawson if he was picked where Basham was.
  9. Nah. He just needs to check his work. Bezos would be close to broke if he gave every citizen $615.
  10. I mix screwball with Kahlua. Surprisingly good.
  11. Sure you’re not a Bears fan? 😂
  12. I always hated that narrative. It ignores how White played in several different schemes including a 3-4 in the USFL before joining the Eagles, plus Whites sack totals went down after Simmons came on. Then there’s all the two and three man fronts that Fritz Shurmur used to employ with the Packers: most notably a 3-3 big nickel. It’s just an impossible argument as to which was definitively better, and the line in the sand is based on personal biases. That said, I go with Bruce because…. Well…. I’m here and go to Bills games and not on a Packers forum forming prayers about A-Aron. 🤷‍♂️
  13. Simms’s probably a bit biased about particular plays. Notably looking at the NFCCG, there’s no way Allen passes up that running lane to the EZ on 3rd down. I don’t think Allen’s surpassed Rodgers yet, however I can see the logic when you factor in the rushing TDs and red zone efficiency. Rodgers doesn’t risk his body like that anymore and there are times when that is detrimental.
  14. Playing from a two point stance in nickel and dime packages primarily. They’d also occasionally run a 4-3 under and line Basham up as the SLB on the LOS. Wake also rolled out an amoeba look rather frequently. In each case I can’t recall Basham dropping into coverage more than once or twice a game. He did destroy a few TEs at the LOS though.
  15. Watched a fair amount of WF the past few years….. Basham was used as a stand up edge rusher in certain packages, but he’d occasionally be used to blitz through the A gaps as well. Mostly DE and DT though. His motor may blow some people away, and he can get inside on slower guards and tackles and push them around with leverage and strength. If he really pans out it’ll likely be with a similar style to Cameron Jordan…. Good balance, motor, strength, and hand fighting.
  16. I know it’s mandatory as Bills fans to loathe the Cowboys, but the 88’ class probably deserves a little more love than it’s getting. Michael Irvin dig aside, Sterling Sharpe was the best receiver in the league not named Jerry Rice. Damn shame he got injured as it would have been fun to watch him with Favre once Favre reached MVP level play. Not necessarily the deepest class, but two HOFers and a HOF talent in a class ain’t bad. 🤷‍♂️
  17. I’m all for a little flirting going on when people live their truth, but that comment was bear-ly appropriate.
  18. It’s easy. 1. Go to Jersey 2. Eat a pork roll & egg on everything bagel. 3. Get piss drunk. 4. Go to Staten Island 5. Violently violate your backside with a tire iron until you can’t remember if you’re throwing up pork roll or Taylor ham. 6. Repeat yearly for that true Jets fan experience
  19. They may have had one of the best player/player rivalries. Constant smack talk between the two of them that turned into a friendship. Not a Bills artlicle, but it’s a cool piece about their relationship with a bunch of 💩 talk stories https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/sapp-favre-rivalry-results-in-mutual-respect/2134272/%3foutputType=amp
  20. And Warren G, Snoop, and Nate Dogg started their careers in a group called 213. IIRC, Snoop is also Brandy and Ray J’s cousin. Also…. Anyone check on Beasley? He may have to be checked for priapism after this signing.
  21. That’s my perspective as well. However, I will acknowledge that sometimes concessions need to be made to manage the cap. With how many college tackles become guards it’s entirely possible that Beane drafted with that in mind as well as the trade value of said players. I will admit to being unsure how much of our poor running performance last season and poor pass blocking against the Chiefs was the result of scheme vs available healthy talent. It’s possible that something clicks for Ford and Feliciano bounces back without an injury. I’m not holding out hope for that though. It’s more likely to me that certain scheme issues and playcalling/personnel tendencies get ironed out before the season starts. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this team gets to camp, identifies a personnel issue, and Beane makes a trade. 🤷‍♂️
  22. Part of the reason is that average starting guards in particular are a lot easier and cheaper to replace in FA than the other line positions. Honestly, if he’d have wanted to nab a center he had the pick of Myers or Humphrey instead of Basham in the 2nd.
  23. We’re likely at an impasse. I just don’t fundamentally believe that a team needs to go out of its way to make changes to the #1 scoring offense in the league. Particularly when they have a below average run defense and a hole at CB. The later of which (King getting roasted like a flaming marshmallow) was a large part of them losing the NFCCG.
