  1. I voted for him too, but I don't have a ton of faith that he actually will be most improved. What is very refreshing to see is that the NFL is *finally* learning to move on from a QB if he doesn't have it, and they are learning to be honest about the process.
  2. Watching the Yankees flounder is one of life's great joys.
  3. This is a great opportunity for baseball fans living in WNY. I would be trying to get down to every possible game I could. I'm a Red Sox fan so that would be my #1 priority, but I would be excited to see anything. I always thought the game experience in that ballpark was outstanding.
  4. Yeah, that was about as scary a thing as I have ever seen unfold in a live sporting event, and I've seen quite a few things live on TV....Malarchuk's incident, Richard Zednik's incident (also in Buffalo), Ryan Shazier's incident not that long ago on national TV, Ayrton Senna's death (Imola May 1, 1994), countless deaths or near-death incidents in Indycar over the years, Alex Zanardi's loss of his legs in Germany, etc... What I think got a lot of people was when it was obvious they were performing CPR on him after they had already been attending to him for some time. The players who were shielding their teammate could probably hear what was going on, and a number of them kept looking back over their shoulders, and they were all crying. I was honestly shocked when they later showed the still photograph of him on a stretcher, somewhat alert, and with an oxygen mask on his face. I thought *for sure* they would be announcing his death and they were probably deciding on how to handle the remainder of that game, the Russia game later that day, and the balance of the tournament outright. To see him revived was something of a miracle. He had to have had some type of cardiac arrest. The replay showed it quite clearly. He just stumbled straight down onto his face without bracing his fall. No one was near him. Here's hoping to a full recovery.

  6. Another nail in Eichel's coffin... This f-ing team is going to trade him, lose the trade, get a little bit worse, and erase an entire season of losing for the sake of getting Jack Eichel. Around and around we go in circles. We are right where the Bills were for YEARS with Ralph when he got old. Until Pegula sells, expect nothing from the Sabres. Nothing! https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/sports/sabres/friedman-i-think-sabres-dont-want-eichel-back-they-want-to-move-on
  7. People just love to piss on this guy. It's weird.
  8. I've heard nothing but good things about this show. I've seen it on HBO a lot but for some reason never sat down and started it. But that's going to change soon.
  9. Nah, he stopped skating and coasted before the hit. What made it so devastating (though clean IMO) is that Evans was accelerating back into the hit, but obviously not seeing the hit coming. It's very similar to why Soupy Campbell's hit on RJ Umberger was so devastating....the guy getting hit's own momentum and direction of movement make the hit extra hard.
  10. It's possible! They seem to be around water a lot with this new breed of military sightings that are being investigated. I guess it's a good place to hide if you don't want to be detected by humans. This is worth your time if you didn't see it yet:
  11. Probably the #1 movie that comes to mind when I think of this is the old movie "WAR GAMES" with Matthew Broderick. Why? B/C it was shown every 8 hours on HBO for decades, and I always enjoyed the movie, particularly as a kid. There are others that I'll see and then it occurs to me I am watching the movie for about the 10,000 time, or so it seems. Of that, names come to mind like "JAWS", "GOODFELLAS", "2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY", many James Bond films, "A BRIDGE TOO FAR" "GODFATHER I and II", and many others. My SO and I vary so much in terms of what we find an interesting movie to watch, we rarely watch films together anymore. We used to do it all the time, but after a while, we realized we end up watching something that *neither* of us wants to watch---I would veto this, she would veto that, and we would always agree to some vague middle ground that was terrible. So it's just easier to watch what we want, alone.
  12. Hard "no" for me.
  13. Wrong sir! Sam Reinhart should have been Leon Draisaitl. He went with the next pick to Edmonton and could have been ours. That is beyond arguing, and a fairly large mistake, as it turns out...as good as Reinhart is.
  14. The wing appears to have stood up pretty well. It's not really designed to be strong along the axis of contact.
  15. They should be smoking pot.
  16. They didn't beat us the last 2 games--they outclassed us. That's much worse.
  17. Ah yes, "the Denver game". This is one of my very favorite games from the entire Super Bowl era.
  18. Just to go a bit further off topic... One day, maybe 20 years ago, I was knocking around the Yorkville area of TO with a buddy of mine, looking at potential used car purchases he was pondering making. We ended up eating at one of the hip outdoor cafes in that area. There was a little 2-man table a few tables over from us, which had 2 of the most beautiful women I have ever seen sitting at it. It's hard to describe, but they both looked like super models. They were probably nearly 6 feet tall, thin, narrow framed, petite bone structure, and both had super pretty faces. They just cast an aura that said "I am not a normal woman walking down the sidewalk; I make my living off of my extreme beauty" if that makes sense. You can go a long time without running into a woman of this quality in your daily life, and here there were 2 of them at the same table. I kept checking them out as our lunch unfolded. Then it came time for their food to be served. They each ordered fairly large "1 man" pizzas, as they would be served in Italy, on elevated pizza trays. I will *never* forget the way these two utterly gorgeous women DEVOURED that food like they had not seen any in a couple of weeks. No joke. They engulfed the stuff like it was air. I commented on this to my buddy, who had a worse view of the situation than I did; he snuck a look and we both concluded that these 2 HAD to be professional models, and further, they HAD to have some type of eating disorder. Presumably they were like a half hour away from puking that pizza back up again, but they were definitely going to enjoy the trip down the tube! Interesting how the same event gave rise to two distinct memories: first, I don't think I've ever quite seen 2 beautiful women of this caliber together at the same time and place. Second, I have NEVER seen a human eat food in this manner in public. And they both did!
  19. You're right! But I'm going to give this one a pass, only because of the quality we usually see in this field.
  20. Yes, in a heartbeat. So would any intelligent, objective football analyst. Gotta love Bills fans---75% say keep Josh! The only "breed" that matters is skill and quality. The rest is just BS. Mahomes wins the contest.
  21. It does seem to be true. Human beings are scary creatures.
  22. I used to be good friends with a woman who worked in urban planning for the City of Buffalo. We have sort of fallen out of contact over the years. She is a very smart woman with a masters degree in UP from an Ivy League school. She pointed out that the entire city of Buffalo had 3 planners on staff at that time (she was one of them) and then she pointed out that Portland, Oregon (a progressive place interested in improving itself constantly) had something like three hundred urban planners. She eventually moved to Baltimore, frustrated with how things never change in WNY, and is in the same line of work there, as far as I know.
  23. If you think about this for a while with an emphasis on objectivity, I think this HAS to be the only answer. Easily the worst single play in franchise history.
  24. This series hasn't been nearly as interesting as I thought it would be. I'm pulling for Montreal, as I simply can't cheer for TO under any circumstances. There used to be a time when I couldn't cheer for Montreal under any circumstances (LOL) but those days are long gone. They (and the Sabres) have been bad enough for long enough that my hatred of the team has faded. The series to watch tonight (and the gem of the playoffs so far) is FL vs. TB. I'm hoping FL can get another win tonight and push the series to another game; every one of them have been pretty great.
