  1. Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey? They were 2 of the more talented SNL people of all time, and on the show at the same time. Then they did the Wayne's World movies too.
  2. I once had the misfortune to wander around PPP kind of by mistake. What a cesspool of ignorance.
  3. ....and her boyfriend. He's just trying to illustrate a point. You're right though, not even the current Nazi party in Germany (NDP) is pro Hitler. If Americans understood how utterly destroyed and devastated Germany was after the war, they would understand how no German could possibly think anything was "good" about it. We are lucky in this country to basically have no idea of the devastation of war.
  4. For steaks, Buffalo Chophouse. One of the better restaurants in town. If you guys are foodies, Tempo is still the best restaurant in town IMO, but expensive.
  5. Looks to me like he's doing a drill. He wants the ball thrown HIGH and he wants to catch it with one hand. The first pass was high, but not high enough. The second was higher, so he liked it.
  6. You mean a prima, selfish, overpaid guy who's about to do some time in the slammer. Great QB though!
  7. This old rivalry so yesterday at this time nothing like it was
  8. Worst fries, bar none, are at 5 Guys. That brown paper bag, turning translucent with grease, and everything in it, is just disgusting. Any DC people here? Best fries I've ever had (consistently) were at Bistro Du Coin in DuPont Circle. That restaurants is awesome. By far my favorite place to eat in DC.
  9. Is this the part where we all piss on Boston and its citizens? I see a lot of that around this site.

    Dune

I've seen the original. It's a HORRIBLE movie. HBO is playing the heck out of it now, and has been doing so for the past few months. The commercials for the new one look better, but it also looks like a different movie. I have wondered how much the new movie deviates from the book.
  11. I'd like to see San Diego get a franchise back, assuming the people there want one. I don't like to see markets get screwed out of their teams. Same for St. Louis. The rest I don't care about. There are enough teams now.
  12. This guy is injured more than not injured.
  13. Another off weekend if you ask me. Game tonight might be the best of the bunch.
  14. Bills 42 9 Miami
  15. Some of us here were speaking of this phenomenon throughout Tyrod Taylor's tenure as a Bill. Dude doesn't have it, dude ain't ever gonna have it, dude still doesn't have it now years after being dumped by the Bills. Of course, that didn't stop the vocal majority here from attacking us and supporting Tyrod, simply b/c he was the QB of the Bills (at the time). Yes, I think everyone involved in the game at the NFL level knows who has it and who doesn't relatively quickly. That's nothing unique to football; I think it applies to many ways of life.
  16. You have mentioned enough across many threads for me to gather that you are a Ph.D psychologist who works in schools with kids. This is another such story. It's really interesting stuff. I wish you'd start some threads discussing your work. Instead we get "the lowest form of life on earth" threads over and over about people throwing their own feces at others at fast food restaurants. The most interesting part of your story, for me, was that you had to work 2 jobs including being a bartender, despite being a psychologist in a school. Welcome to America. Or should I say welcome to North Carolina? My buddy (from Buffalo) got his first job out of undergrad as an English teacher somewhere within the Mecklenburg County public school system. I guess the entire system is county wide; you would know more. This meant that kids from all kinds of varying neighborhoods were in the same classroom together, and I guess that just doesn't work. My buddy also quickly found out that North Carolinians aren't much for public education, don't want to pay local taxes to support schools, and that educators in that area are among the lowest paid in the country. Nice! Luckily, after a couple of years, my buddy was able to come back home to Buffalo (his first choice) and get a great job at Clarence High School---which is as good a public high school as there probably is in the country...making the most money in the country except for teachers in Alaska. Good for him.
  17. I will always say all those playoff games in Buffalo in late December and/or January were a BIG part of why the Bills went to 4 Super Bowls in a row. It's a huge advantage IMO.
  18. I have been thinking about this era lately, with the Bills and Chargers on the upswing and both with a pair of great young QBs who are going to be around for a long time. Throw in the retro uniforms the Chargers are now wearing, and maybe we can rejuvenate some of the Chargers vs. Bills AFL rivalry from the '60s. I would love that!
  19. Holy *****. This is awesome! Keep the stories coming! And I'd actually enjoy hearing more about your video project. The funny thing is I have a good friend who, for about 10 years, lived off N. French Rd. in E. Amherst in a nice neighborhood and across the street and down 2 or 3 houses lived...Jason Dawe! While still playing for the Sabres! I'm guessing the Night of the 18 Year Old occurred at a different location and different point in time when Dawe did not live on that street, seeing as Barnaby never lived down the street. I'm pretty sure Dawe was married and maybe even had a baby by the time he lived across the street from my buddy. Ironically, who did live like 5 houses down the street from my buddy? Dan Kelly, brother of then QB of the Bills Jim Kelly. Buffalo is such a small place.
  20. Two wrongs don't make a "right." It's quite sad how many people in this thread voice the opinion, basically, that Congress should not be concerned with a widespread trend of racist, homophobe, and misogynist behavior within the foundations of the NFL, given the level of influence the sport has in modern American society. What does the NFL have to lose? How about the fact that they are a de facto and arguably de jure monopoly in violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act? How about Congress deciding it's time to go after the NFL and deny them their "special" status within the construct of current American law? So there's that, to name one concern.
  21. This is a really "off" TV weekend for me, except for Tennessee vs. KC, which is probably the No. 1 game nationwide that I want to see today, and it's on in my area. But 3 other losers, including SNF!
  22. Having a Gronk/Kelce type TE is a huge advantage. It's nice to see Knox starting to emerge as a top running/catching TE around the league. He clearly has a lot of natural athletic talent, and he's BIG. Tall, long arms, fast, good hands, big and strong. Guys like this are matchup nightmares.
  23. Interesting story! I wonder if he moved back to Czech Republic or if he still resides in N. America. Probably went back home. On another occasion around the same time as my Flames story, we were out at Colter Bay on corner of Delaware and Allen. Probably a Saturday night. My buddies and I were just standing around drinking beer kind of near the back side of the bar, away from the front door. Out of nowhere, Sabres player Bob Sweeney pops into the bar, walking quickly and purposefully, alone. He went straight through the bar, toward the back, through the door that led to the kitchen, and into the kitchen. He did it like he knew the layout of the bar well and had done this 100 times! Maybe 30 seconds later he emerged from the kitchen, and just as quickly, left the bar out the front door. Never stopped or talked to a soul out in the bar area. We were all laughing, all of us being hockey players, college kids, and big Sabres fans, and immediately recognizing Sweeney. The joke among ourselves was that his drug dealer worked in the kitchen there and Bob needed to make an emergency purchase. I have NO idea if that is actually what happened, but it's pretty much the only thing that makes sense. PS: If anyone else has other random Sabre/hockey player spotting stories, I'd love to hear them! I have more...I'm happy to share more if there is interest. I was in undergrad from 1989-1993 in Buffalo and that is the era when my buddies and I were interacting with Sabres regularly in bars around Buffalo. It's such a small town!
  24. They were the Calgary Flames at that point in time (in my story) but they obviously came from Atlanta and yes, that is kind of a weird nickname. The NHL loves to stick hockey teams in towns where they have no business being. We have a whole bunch of them in the league now. I'm so glad that franchise got the hell out of Atlanta. The irony is that they actually got a second crack at it, too!
