Oh boy, another "I hate Mike Schopp" thread. Seems like it's been a while since our last one. Did you happen to notice how utterly inept Bulldog is? How nervous he is when he has to go solo? And how much he physically struggles to speak? My biggest complaint with Schopp these days is that, as you mention, he is absolutely ADDICTED to gambling, lines, spreads, over/under, fantasy sports leagues, etc... I have a theory that says he can't go more than about 10 minutes without making SOME kind of reference to "gambling" one way or the other. I have ZERO interest in any of that. Sports talk and sports gambling talk are 2 completely different topics IMO. If it's getting to the point where all sports talk is to be dominated by gambling, I'm done listening to sports talk entirely. Some days I have to shut it off, I hate it. It's not his "material". He calls it as it is; when we were got garbage for 2 decades, he said so. So did lots of us. Now are are one of the better run teams in the league, are almost elite with analytics, and have as good a QB as anyone in the league. It's a different world now with the team so commentary about that team is in a different world too. I find Mike to be extremely flexible with the organization these days; it's hard to hear him say something negative. My theory is that he doesn't want to end up as another Jerry Sullivan; hated by the kool aid drinking fanbase to the point where his employer decided it made better financial sense to let him go. I genuinely believe Schopp realized he needed to change; maybe his superiors at the station forced him to see it this way. I don't know. Actually, he is the smartest guy at WGR-550, and by a good bit in my estimation. And quite a few of his callers are shockingly stupid. I mean unbelievably stupid. People who mis-pronounce (badly) player names, state things that are simply not true, invent their own realties, and so on. As I have said here 100 times...if an INTELLIGENT caller calls in and actually contributes something of substance to the show, Schopp is extremely polite and praises the caller.

Listen to what Von had to say today. He said he chats with OBJ about once a week and keeps in touch with him. He said when things get serious, he knows where OBJ is going to end up, implying Buffalo. https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/podcasts/schopp-and-bulldog-20261/von-miller-and-his-continued-recruitment-of-obj-1528925298

Tage Thompson got in a scrap last night! The video is on youtube if you are interested. Not exactly a GREAT fight but it was nice to see him drop 'em to defend a teammate. I love when guys like this step outside of their comfort zone and show a little toughness.

Singletary was close to fumbling with seconds remaining
Nextmanup replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not sure I would say that was close to a fumble. It was a hell of a punch from the defender though, RIGHT ON the ball... He had that thing wrapped up with 2 arms and survived the punch out b/c he was paying attention. I don't see an issue there. -
It's the silent snap routine. Centers used to look down between their legs to get the signal to snap from the QB, but then New England starting moving the D around when the Center did that... So the league adjusted with the guard looking at the signal from the QB, and then tapping the center or putting his hand up to tell the center "ready for the snap whenever you are" and he's giving a visual cue that the tackles can see in case they can't see the ball itself. I think that's what you mean.

How is a new RB going to make a difference behind this OL?
Nextmanup replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Our OL is improved, but far from anything special in the league right now. I agree that much of our run game is really a critique on our O line, so sure, if you want to improve running (I don't care about that AT ALL), have a look at the OL. -
Allen is the Bills only short yardage option
Nextmanup replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've said this 100 times here and I'll write it again: Josh running the ball is the most dangerous thing we do. -
Lamar Jackson 3rd and Goal run. What is he doing?
Nextmanup replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's not that strange of a play. He decided to run, but the space he thought he saw quickly closed, and he made the decision "I am not going to get to the end zone" at which point he "went down" slightly awkwardly head first, rather than take the brunt of the tackle/hit. I don't see anything wrong with it, or weird about it. -
It's worth at least thinking about, and I bet the coaching staff already has.

This reminds me of the HUGE portion of this fanbase that tried to convince me Tyrod was worth a ***** as a QB. Before that, it was EJ. He was even worse. I remember the comeback game against Carolina---EJ was declared "the next franchise QB of the Bills" and most here hopped right on that train. LMFAO

Bills once again tops in the league at 4th down decision making
Nextmanup replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Those decisions have NOTHING to do with McDermott, thank God. But yes, as an organization, we have gotten good at this stuff. McDermott's staff used to be TERRIBLE at all of this sort of thing. What impressed me MOST in Baltimore was our use of clock to close out the game. It was handled perfectly; that is a huge improvement for this staff too. -
Quarter Pole: Unexpected Results Around the League
Nextmanup replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
My surprise is the Chiefs. I thought the loss of Hill would really take their offense down a few gears. And yet they actually seem to have the strongest team they've had in the last 3 years. I think they'll be a much harder out for us this year than last! -
I'm surprised anyone wanted to dwell on this in the first place! I thought it was entertaining and you know he gives a crap. Beyond that, there isn't much to say or reflect on.

Is there ANY Bills game that doesn't feature drunk fights in the stands? Every game I have ever been to has featured at least one awkward, ugly moment with idiots fighting. Always see people on the brink of blacking out with drunkenness too, if not actually out cold! I don't remember this game off the top of my head! I guarantee I watched it live at the time.. I'm going to catch the condensed version; thanks to the OP for posting!

Things that look and smell awful, but are great in context
Nextmanup replied to TheCockSportif's topic in Off the Wall
Never knew about this stuff... -
I remember reading an article about this sort of thing some years ago. The guilty fishermen were actually going out into their fishing boat with PURCHASED fish like from a fish market...and then claiming they pulled them out of the water. Of course, they were all huge trophy fish! You might laugh at this, but... A good friend of mine worked for years (while in school) at the Erie Basin Marina. One year they had one of these pro bass fishing contests somewhere down there, and my buddy was talking to some of the guys. He said they were making like $400,000 to $500,000 per year in winnings on the "pro bass tour" or whatever it was! And that was in the late '80s and early '90s.

Every expert on this topic has make it clear that he should be looking at 3-4 MONTHS of no football, and sit for the remainder of the season. It relates to the fact that he got 2 concussions in such a short period of time. Had they sat him for 3-4 WEEKS after our game, he would be back and be fine (doing it the right way with the player's health coming first). Their greed is HOPEFULLY going to lose him for the season. Just remember, if he DOES come back in 2 or 3 or 4 GAMES---they are STILL not doing it right in Miami, and his health is very much at risk.

For the few fans here who don't already know this, we are getting Romo and Nantz for the game, which is something to look forward to.

If I told you... (Injury Reflections)
Nextmanup replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall
And just to expand on the OP's thought here... Aside from the injuries, look at things like turnovers, penalties, mistakes, sloppiness. With the exception of the Tennessee game, I don't feel like we have seen anything CLOSE to us firing on all cylinders, with all hands on deck...and our record remains what it is, and having beaten a number of solid teams. We are shaping up to put it all together (including injury returns) maybe as late as late November or early December. We should be peaking at just the right time, and playing our most complete football when it matters most in the final stretch and into the playoffs. -
Let me ease your pain. Trap games don't exist in reality. They only exist in the minds of some sports fans, like you. You are effectively worried about the Boogie Man. He doesn't exist either.

Bring on a new Pickett's Charge! We all know how the last one ended up as well...

That's such low class *****.

"That" heat in the game against Miami was absolutely par for the course for SE FL at this time of year. It certainly did look like the players struggled with it, but I don't know why it would be any different than any other recent year; we always play down in FL early, and they play in WNY late.
