BARNBURNER ALERT - Commanders @ Bears TNF
Nextmanup replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sabres won 4-1, with 2 empty netters at the end. Star of the game was Anderson who played really well and stopped several breakaways. Dahlin had an absolutely awesome goal. -
Not a particularly strong first period for Sabres. Ottawa 1-0.

Mais oui!

I haven't read the thread b/c I am way behind and didn't want to see any spoilers. But I found the show to be slow and a bit boring for a few episodes. It then really caught fire I think with episode 4, and that's the last one I've seen. I felt it was really heating up to with that one (if I have the right episode).

Is Dan Snyder blackmailing the NFL and it’s owners?
Nextmanup replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
You would think the other owners really want this gone, as he is clearly the rogue who doesn't play well and get along with others. Would anyone be surprised if this blossomed into some interesting story down the line? Some sort of scandal that takes down an NFL owner or two? There must be some amazing stories out there already involving Snyder vs. other owners, and the stuff they are doing to each other. I wish someone would report on that. -
So the short answer is coordinated camera systems using triangulation. Can you imagine how accurate spotting the ball after every play could be? Or did that guy make it to the first down marker or not as he was shoed out of bounds. All that crap could be perfectly dialed in....but isn't....b/c.....NFL.

Goal-Line Technology is a system that uses either physical cameras or a changing magnetic field to track the ball and determine if it has crossed the goal line. If the ball crosses the line, an encrypted signal is transmitted to the referee, who can then decide whether or not to award a goal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuz9D41TxoA Interesting reading here... https://www.scienceabc.com/innovation/how-does-the-goal-line-technology-work.html

So how do they do it in soccer? Is it a laser type system? Why not employ that at least at the goal line, and then put the chip in the ball. We could forever end debate about "crossing the plane of the goal line".
-
They've had that system in place in international soccer for several years now. Particularly if a shot hits the crossbar and bounces down very quickly and then out, the question is "Did it cross the goal line or not?" They review that and have accurate enough data to say whether or not it was in or out. Same in tennis, if I'm not mistake. I don't watch tennis.

Why are we playing in KC two years in a row?
Nextmanup replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here's a nice highlight video of that game. I just watched it. I forgot what a close, tight game that was. -
Please don't have refs play a role on Sunday
Nextmanup replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think reffing was better in the old days; the current system has made officials hesitant and not nearly as confident as they used to be to make a ruling on the field. They need to scrap the entire review/challenge system ENTIRELY and go back to 1965 with all this. The games will be SO MUCH better to watch, and go quicker too. And some calls will be good and some will be bad, JUST LIKE NOW. -
MESSAGE TO BILLS/NFL FANS WHO AREN'T REALLY INTO HOCKEY: Tonights TNF game is going to be a tire fire. Ignore it, and watch the Sabres play Ottawa at 7pm in their regular season opening game! The Sabres are now a likable team that is fun to watch, with lots of young kids trying their hardest. The ***** show of the last decade is behind us now.

Oooh, this looks SO cool - let's take a picture!

...or his beer. This guy had to be drunk, right? I bet he made it maybe half way up, slipped, got a bad hit to the head on the rocks on his way down, and then drowned...as he was in the water unconscious. They got to him too late to alter the outcome. When people decide it's time to wrestle with Mother Nature, Mother Nature almost always wins, you know? -
Now we are in trouble - The flopping fishes are going nuclear
Nextmanup replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
The funny thing is that they presumably did this because they actually felt the ping pong table represented a distraction. As in, professionals being paid millions were distracted from their work by a ping pong table in the locker room. And then you wonder why terms like "coachable" exist in sports talk. These are guys are mostly, shockingly, stupid. -
It all looks SO MUCH CLOSER on that video. TV has a way of making a football stadium appear about 4 times bigger than it is. I'll never forget my first visit to Rich Stadium as a kid. I was amazed at how small it all looked to me.
-
I've seen all their games. To me, their offense has actually looked more dangerous and explosive than before, even with the massive loss of Hill. I thought that would really impact KC this year, and it hasn't at all.

NFL Week 6 broadcast maps: Bills-Chiefs nationally televised on CBS
Nextmanup replied to RiotAct's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the game of the year, league wide. -
We are going to miss him on Sunday!
-
It looks like a fake.
-
I can't believe that people still want to talk about running the football.

If Allen stays healthy, will Bills win 11 in a row?
Nextmanup replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, but what about the 1, 2, or 3 games, that happen every year, that none of us ever see coming? Did you have the Fish game marked down as a loss? -
Yahoo QB Rankings after 5 Weeks, because why not
Nextmanup replied to Ralonzo's topic in The Stadium Wall
I disagree with a lot of this guy's organization. He's got Josh at 1, so I guess we are supposed to love what he says. -
That's what Sunday is ALL ABOUT. Mahomes is 9-0 AT HOME in the playoffs. WE HAVE TO GET THOSE BASTARDS IN ORCHARD PARK.
-
I think we acquired Edmunds solely to be able to deal with Kelce. Is he gonna be able to go?
-
I'll take Deablo, thanks very much. The guy is like Milano, flying all over field and making plays everywhere.
