  1. Did i miss it, or did they NOT show where he was relative to that magic blue line on the play where the penalty was called?
  2. Good win. But knowing they won't get rid of McDermott takes the wind out of my sails. He will just never be the right guy for Allen. Maybe it will be healthy for the entire fanbase to temper expectations. We are in for a Dan Reeves/ Marty Schottenheimer type run for the foreseeable future. Maybe we will luck into the big one once. Worse coaches have won a SB. Im pretty sure.
  3. the thing i feel good about is I think we are usually outcoached by teams like the chiefs. i don't believe the cowboys are nearly as well coached.
  4. would he get 5 years 75 from an nfl team? i think the only thing possibly keeping that from happening is all of these teams being under water with bad contracts from previous coaches.
  5. so much this. you hate to think they will make a guy unfireable because they were stupid enough to give him a WAY early extension.
  6. being good in your first major public speaking appearance is not the same thing effectively planning and calling a football game.
  7. Here is the thing about Nick S. He is smarter than McD. I believe he played a huge part in developing a game plan to almost beat us in the playoffs with a far inferior team. Josh had to play like superman with huge plays from unlikely heroes like Gabe Davis to come out with that win. I grew up near Nick, from a different town, and this description of him doesn't surprise me, though disappointing. I thought he would have changed from the person he was as a high school kid. I know I've changed a lot since then. Though maybe having so much success isn't great for bringing humility to a person.
  8. I want him gone under any circumstance other than this, but I could accept an AFCCG appearance, without losing my mind, as long as it is a great game where best team wins. Not stupidest coach loses it for team.
  9. Some people are blowing it out of proportion, but I think most people are using it appropriately. They aren't saying it makes him a terrible person, just a person with a very flawed decision making process. It doesn't take an evil person to use that story as motivation. It takes a moron.
  10. The next 9 weeks could possibly be the most critical game of our season. We put ourselves in this position where every game has extreme value. And besides, this article is never going to be more interesting to people than after that eagles game. He either puts it out now, or waits until we are officially eliminated.
  11. you can't put that genie back in the bottle. i think everybody realizes mcD is not a terrorist sympathizer. its just an example of him making bad choices and maybe not understanding people. apology or not.
  12. whatever it was, it's a nothing burger. He probably was just trying to set a theme and building some kind of unity with the linemen. Maybe it didn't work, but he probably meant well enough. I want him fired, but this is just a dumb anecdote to add 150 words to a story, and somehow people get bent out of shape about it, as if McD acts like a corrections officer with his players.
  13. i was at that point for several weeks this year. emotionally checked out, and hardly bothered by terrible games to the bengals and broncos. and then somehow i got sucked back in during the eagles game. that game might have irritated me more than 13 seconds. it was definitely the most charged up ive been since that game, anyway.
  14. Trying to think of something witty to add to this. i guess i'll just say it's my favorite post in thread, outside of the OP.
  15. well, it can account for one of those areas more than the other. It is also probably a huge limiting factor in who we can bring in to play in our offense. And is also the reason it seems to take new guys 2 years to start getting involvement in our offense. If the learning curve is too steep, is it worth it? idk. i guess i leave it to the professionals to make those decisions.
  16. yup, i can remember when we were so bad, i was watching the colts almost every week. their d line wouldn't show anything spectacular all day, but mathis and freeney could get a sack every time they needed it at the end of the 4th qtr. before that, they just got the job done, and of course bob sanders was all over the place. now we do a great job of killing the passer in the first qtr. I don't know. maybe mcdermott is not the problem. maybe we just need to go and get bob sanders.
  17. it sounds like the nfl is actually taking this seriously and he may be banned from the sidelines for the rest of the seaon.
  18. i don't know. tom brady looked like he was "Just efficient" in a really good system. THen he got some weapons and became the GOAT around the age of 30.
  19. nah. weather is not that bad. they will get it in
  20. The Steelers are not wasting a generational talent with Mike Tomlin. If we were doing what we are doing now with Tyrod Taylor, Geno Smith or Mitch Trubisky, there would not be any complaining.
  21. As has been mentioned, offensive coaches are the best way to super bowl success in today's nfl. Even when Bill B. was winning in NE, even when Brady didn't have as many weapons as he deserved, it was because Bill was the BEST defensive coach in the nfl. if you are going to be a defensive head, you better the best, or near it. Not just GOOD at it.
  22. the reason we have been so strong is of course because we have a generational talent at qb. this is what the people in charge need to realize. we need to do everything in our power to set him up for success. I just don't think McD is that guy, and I think most others are on that same page. He is a *good* coach...not great. Though he will make some other franchise very happy, he just isn't right for what we have.
