  1. you just don't give the team you are chasing the guy that they want.
  2. Josh has been off at times, but come on are you kidding me protecting our defense's role in this? you can't count on more TOs against a team like the chiefs. we haven't forced a punt since the denver game. No surprise that Josh always plays on edge, knowing our defense can't force a punt to save their lives.
  3. Brady is good, but Reid is obviously better. Spags is in another league compared to McDermott. I think the next thing we need to think about is keeping McD as HC, but having a D-coordinator who is completely independent of him. the tv talks about how smart and respected he is as a defensive tactician every week. He has gotten slaughtered in almost every non wild card game ever. His brand stinks.
  4. im good with the 2 pt try. but god shouldn't they recognize the defense and go to the other side???
  5. I still say we wouldn't know what to do with Worthy even if we had him. I guess if you're Beane, you have to have big balls, because you probably feel like he's not the right guy to help you, but at the same time you know the Chiefs might make you look like a fool if they nail the pick.
  6. worthy just did what coleman is supposed to do for us. and he does other things obviously better. we lost that draft.
  7. josh being josh. reminds me of this story from an article about josh's college days, from an article that came out last week. Rothe: My freshman year, I’m a kicker. We’re standing on the sidelines during a team scrimmage. Sure enough, the ball ends up on the sideline. I’m holding the ball, usually the equipment managers are quick to come grab it, but I see Josh calling my name: “Cooper, Cooper, throw me the ball, let’s go.” I’m supposed to give it to the equipment manager, which is the right move, but Josh is the team captain. I don’t want to be the guy to say no to Josh. So I make eye contact with him, throw probably the best ball of my life, perfect spiral. As I release the ball, I see him look away on purpose. Best ball of my life. Going right at his head. He has his helmet on. It hits him. He flails his arm, throws his head back … “Cooper, what the hell, man?”
  8. Re: Geno Smith. quick and dirty from wiki: re-draft [edit] Smith received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine where his performance was well received by scouts who highlighted his athleticism and strong arm[46] but noted that his ball placement needed improvement.[47] Smith was widely regarded as one of the top prospects alongside EJ Manuel of Florida State.[48] In the days leading up to the draft, several NFL teams expressed interest in Smith including the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1 selection), the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 2 selection), the Oakland Raiders (No. 3 selection), the Philadelphia Eagles (No. 4 selection), the Buffalo Bills (No. 8 selection), and the New York Jets (No. 9 and No. 13 selections).[49] Draft and signing [edit] Smith was in attendance for the first round of the draft as many analysts and scouts expected him to be taken that night.[53] However, Smith was not selected, and EJ Manuel was the lone quarterback taken in the first round.[54] Smith declined to be interviewed by ESPN afterwards and originally planned to return home but later decided to attend the second day of the draft.[54] Several league executives alleged Smith did not handle the draft process in a professional manner, which caused him to fall out of the first round,[55] while analysts pointed to his late-season decline as a senior at West Virginia, which exposed his flaws, as the primary reason.[56] The following day, the Jets expressed interest in trading up in the second round to select Smith but could not consummate a trade.[57] Despite this, Smith remained available and the Jets selected him with the 39th overall pick.[58] Following the selection, General manager John Idzik stated that Smith would compete with incumbent Mark Sanchez in training camp to determine the starting quarterback.[59]
  9. i thought the same thing. my guess at the time was that he had a lot of carries in high school, and just has good ball security habits ingrained him.
  10. watching the replay a few posts up, i am more in line with thinking that wasn't a bad call. White has his hands on Coleman before and after 5 yards. Coleman's hands were a reaction to that. And then White isn't able to get out of his own way and run with the ball, impeding Coleman's ability to go to the ball. It's easily a 5 yard call and a first down. And it's fair to call it a PI. I'm 50/50 on that. I wouldn't have cried bloody murder if only 5 yards, but I think the interference call is justified. I think people were influenced by Gene Sterratore's opinion on the call, which wasn't fully fleshed out, imo.
  11. my understanding is that you can challenge the spot, but you will technically lose because it's not a TD or 1st. They will still fix the spot, but you'll lose your TO. I went back and watched on tv, and I don't think the spot was as bad as most of us thought last night. Though I won't commit to that position without seeing video on my computer where I can more effectively slow it down and freeze frame.
  12. we let henry back into the game by going into our shells in the 3rd qtr. if we score there, it's more of just lamar lamar lamar.
  13. im not sure if the spot was bad anymore. i went back and found the play on a highlight reel and from the left side the spot looked decent. would like to see the replay from the other side to watch in slow mo to verify.
  14. Jackson absolutely did not outplay Allen. ANd as Romo alluded to multiple times last night, Josh can put on the cape whenever needed. He didn't need to.
  15. This post is so spot on. I gained so much for Lamar last night. Makes me feel ashamed of how I might react in the same situation!😅
  16. any video of that bad spot circulating?
  17. i'll reiterate that the fg was the right call. there's been some argument here on whether McD is allowed to challenge the spot on 3rd down. from what I've read, he can challenge, but we automatically lose a timeout, because technically you can only challenge whether it's a TD or 1st down. So obviously we don't get a first down, so technically lose the challenge, but they will spot the ball where it should be. So maybe we didn't challenge because we thought the TO was more valuable than the 1/2 yard or whatever it might have been? Maybe the bills weren't able to get a good look at where the spot should have been? God knows we didn't at home. CBS terrible on the replays as usual.
  18. noticed this and it really made me think so high of him. i said it to my friends. many of these guys are such better human beings than i am.
  19. where was cooper? allen didn't even really play today. we ran an offense that trubisky could have executed 95% of.
  20. We may have also lost to the rams because we did go for the tush push, when the Rams had been controlling the LOS against us. Brady just doesn't have a feel for it down there. Those are obvious calls that should be dictated by how the trenches are being played in each particular game.
  21. we will never get rid of them. wishful thinking
  22. unreal to take the ball out of Allen's hands the entire 3rd qtr.
  23. sliding catches aren't hard. it's a perfect spot where the defender can't get to the ball. I suspect Kincaid slipped and it messed up the timing
  24. I don't think anybody's really down on him this year. He's overpaid, but he's playing the best ball he's played in a long time. We are using him in the role he is best suited for right now. I don't pay attention, but what's the $$ value of a really awesome 2nd tight end whose main job is to block, but also makes some big catches the few times he's called upon? I would guess it's somewhere around half of what he's making. I don't know how it works, but if we can push a chunk of his money for 25 and 26 to his void years in 27 and 28, his contract will turn out to be fair. They fixed it decently for this year. But 25 and 26 he has A LOT of money coming his way. https://overthecap.com/player/dawson-knox/7887
