what a difference a week makes.

could we figure out how to draw up some plays where we throw the ball past the sticks on 3rd down? and how much of our entire offensive philosophy goes up in flames when the tush push doesn't work. having that in our pocket completely dictated our offensive philosophy on 2 and short and 3rd and short. i guess we'll have to get a little more creative knowing that play isn't what we thought it was for us.

i don't know how you hockey fans do it. there should be maybe 2,000 fans in those seats every night.

would it be too hard for josh to pass up a chance to play for the 49ers if this continues? don't take him for granted. there's no guarantee we get his whole career.

tough that we have to measure our failures and successes based on how we play against a team that everyone else blows up against as well. Groot? idk. top 10 guy. not a top 3 to 5. doesn't seem to have that take over gene. if he needs to be paid like a DPoY candidate, we can't do that. how much less do we get to pay him versus a garrett, crosby, watt, etc.? is this like with QBs where guys like Tua and maybe Purdy make as much money as the Real ones like Josh, Patrick and Lamar? And if Rousseau is as good as we seem to think he is, how bad is the rest of our D. we stunk this year. no getting around that.

on one hand, I think the exact same way here. On the other hand, it is odd that we always look at a football game through the lens of "if you have the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win, the defense has done their job" the thing with our offense is that when you look at some of the chiefs scoring drives, it looks so easy for them. every scoring drive we have is extremely tense, needing multiple big plays. is that a function of the play calling, or josh just not letting things be easy? or am i just imagining it.

ALlen can do things mahomes can't. but mahomes is better than him. we're gonna need a 3 score lead on KC if we ever want a chance to beat them in the playoffs.

Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?
Man with No Name replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
maybe kincaid just doesn't love it and isn't putting in the work. im not really sure what kind of work goes into having elite NFL type hands. a lot natural, obviously. but are the guys who are really good spending a ton of time with the jugs machine compared to others? Is Kincaid a choker, or does he just not put in the work? or maybe he was just never as talented as we thought. -
i can maybe get on board with this.

tonight is the least bitter ive been about mcdermott in a loss in a long time. defense did a decent job in the 2nd half. offense moved the ball a bit. i can live with the 2 pt conversion calls, even if i disagree. brady was underwhelming, but I don't think anybody wants to see him go. how much of the trenches getting their butts handed to them is on the coaching? idk. things just went KCs way. they always do.
-
we are never getting rid of mcdermott. the best we can hope for is pegula demanding he hire somebody to have complete autonomy on defense. But again, our biggest flaw tonight was not being able to pick 1 and 2 yards when we needed it.
-
WE possibly have the best offensive line we've ever had. and we couldn't move the ball 1 yard at a time. i feel like I did 4 years ago again. hopeless. no matter what we do, they'll somehow do it better.
-
mostly, we just got beat in the trenches today. you can over analyze this game to death. if we can move the ball 1 and 2 yards, like we did all year, we win this game. You can look at some calls by the refs that hurt us, but we did more to hurt ourselves imo.

The chatter around the Worthy trade isn't rational
Man with No Name replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
you just don't give the team you are chasing the guy that they want. -
Josh has been off at times, but come on are you kidding me protecting our defense's role in this? you can't count on more TOs against a team like the chiefs. we haven't forced a punt since the denver game. No surprise that Josh always plays on edge, knowing our defense can't force a punt to save their lives.

Brady is good, but Reid is obviously better. Spags is in another league compared to McDermott. I think the next thing we need to think about is keeping McD as HC, but having a D-coordinator who is completely independent of him. the tv talks about how smart and respected he is as a defensive tactician every week. He has gotten slaughtered in almost every non wild card game ever. His brand stinks.

josh being josh. reminds me of this story from an article about josh's college days, from an article that came out last week. Rothe: My freshman year, I’m a kicker. We’re standing on the sidelines during a team scrimmage. Sure enough, the ball ends up on the sideline. I’m holding the ball, usually the equipment managers are quick to come grab it, but I see Josh calling my name: “Cooper, Cooper, throw me the ball, let’s go.” I’m supposed to give it to the equipment manager, which is the right move, but Josh is the team captain. I don’t want to be the guy to say no to Josh. So I make eye contact with him, throw probably the best ball of my life, perfect spiral. As I release the ball, I see him look away on purpose. Best ball of my life. Going right at his head. He has his helmet on. It hits him. He flails his arm, throws his head back … “Cooper, what the hell, man?”

Random talking head says something about the Bills

Re: Geno Smith. quick and dirty from wiki: re-draft [edit] Smith received an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine where his performance was well received by scouts who highlighted his athleticism and strong arm[46] but noted that his ball placement needed improvement.[47] Smith was widely regarded as one of the top prospects alongside EJ Manuel of Florida State.[48] In the days leading up to the draft, several NFL teams expressed interest in Smith including the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 1 selection), the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 2 selection), the Oakland Raiders (No. 3 selection), the Philadelphia Eagles (No. 4 selection), the Buffalo Bills (No. 8 selection), and the New York Jets (No. 9 and No. 13 selections).[49] Draft and signing [edit] Smith was in attendance for the first round of the draft as many analysts and scouts expected him to be taken that night.[53] However, Smith was not selected, and EJ Manuel was the lone quarterback taken in the first round.[54] Smith declined to be interviewed by ESPN afterwards and originally planned to return home but later decided to attend the second day of the draft.[54] Several league executives alleged Smith did not handle the draft process in a professional manner, which caused him to fall out of the first round,[55] while analysts pointed to his late-season decline as a senior at West Virginia, which exposed his flaws, as the primary reason.[56] The following day, the Jets expressed interest in trading up in the second round to select Smith but could not consummate a trade.[57] Despite this, Smith remained available and the Jets selected him with the 39th overall pick.[58] Following the selection, General manager John Idzik stated that Smith would compete with incumbent Mark Sanchez in training camp to determine the starting quarterback.[59] -
Von Miller proves the doubters wrong
Man with No Name replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
i thought the same thing. my guess at the time was that he had a lot of carries in high school, and just has good ball security habits ingrained him. -
Dion Dawkins and the Bills ripped off - Baldy agrees

watching the replay a few posts up, i am more in line with thinking that wasn't a bad call. White has his hands on Coleman before and after 5 yards. Coleman's hands were a reaction to that. And then White isn't able to get out of his own way and run with the ball, impeding Coleman's ability to go to the ball. It's easily a 5 yard call and a first down. And it's fair to call it a PI. I'm 50/50 on that. I wouldn't have cried bloody murder if only 5 yards, but I think the interference call is justified. I think people were influenced by Gene Sterratore's opinion on the call, which wasn't fully fleshed out, imo.
