  1. i have never been into the draft. nobody ever seems to know what is what; who is who, and i certainly don't hold myself above that. when the bills made the pick, i wasn't excited. i wasn't mad either. it was always gonna be a wait, see, and hope.
  2. what's with all the speculation on reid retiring. that guy is gonna die 6 months after he steps down, right? i would replace mcd with a ben johnson or harbaugh for sure, but the list isn't long. if you're gonna start that search, you better be sure they are going to say yes. and how many teams have fired a guy with McDermott's record. 70% or whatever in the regular season and 500 in the playoffs. We all think it should be better, but realistically, how many are getting fired with that track record?
  3. maybe he stepped down, but was given a nudge in that direction. ie: "you are still the d coordinator, but I am calling the plays next year." that's the most likely scenario in the mind of random board poster Man with no name, if it's true that he stepped down.
  4. I agree with this to an extent. on the other hand, it's kind of the same picture we've been looking at for 5 years. And the Chiefs have not looked that good on offense against anyone else as of late. incredibly frustrating. we were missing the linebackers, but we had many of our capable players in the defensive backfield.
  5. again, you are taking a generalized stat of ALL throws and extrapolating to a 30 yard route. get out of here. he didn't have all day, unfortunately. and it was the right call to throw to the open man in the end zone. the end.
  6. those averages are how long they TOOK to throw. Not how long they HAD to throw. for all kinds of different routes. you can't extrapolate a generalized stat like that into "He should have gotten rid of the ball quicker" on a 30 plus yard route.
  7. average time between snap and throwing ball. OR pressure. and they often throw the ball without pressure, and those throws are included in the average.
  8. pocket time is not how long until you face pressure, it is how long until you release, which often comes without pressure. and when you are throwing a bunch of balls 0 to 5 yards down the field, that is bringing the average way down.
  9. has anybody looked at how much time allen had from the snap to when he let go of the ball? i don't know enough to say whether he should have felt that pressure quickly enough to step away from it.
  10. an interesting comment that struck me on the eagles board was that reid had jim johnson for most of his tenure there, and when he left, the wheels fell off. when pedersen had his great success, schwartz was there. and of course reid now with spagnuolo. . does mcdermott have his johnson or spagnuolo on the other side of the ball? nope he wants a puppet who he can control as an extension of his own limited decision making brain. A level coaches hire A level assistants. b level coaches hire c level assistants, so they can maintain control. but i don't know what's out there. is there a great candidate we should be hiring?
  11. not if they're losing
  12. I do not plan on watching either. I'm quite bitter
  13. I've come around this. didn't think he deserved it in the spirit of what the award was made for, but this is a very special case. we don't need to be so rigid all the time. the man was dead for several? minutes on national TV. I sat in my living room and cried for him and his teammates, along with millions of others. this transcends what the award is meant to be. I applaud the choice, and hope everybody can see it is something meaningful and special and not just another participation award. he came back to life. literally. he is THE comeback player of the year
  14. LOl@ the bills being 76% favorites with 2 minutes left. that is what you call a broken computer my friends. and the bills had the ball at the end of the game? had they scored, the chiefs were always gonna have the ball back with decent clock left.
  15. you know what i do when i see thread topics that don't interest me? I move past them without clicking.
  16. spot on. people are going to see what harbaugh does with the chargers over the next 5 years, and it isn't gonna make the people here very happy. we are settling. josh might be able to will us to one or two before he's done. it will be despite the coach though. ill reiterate. mcdermott is good. not great. not the right coach for allen.
  17. nah. if we had the better defense, allen out plays Mahomes, and then it is just as easy to say we are better in all 3 of those areas, just because ONE of our phases was better.
  18. difficult to have any confidence in his ability to return to form last year. we have seen with both von and Tre that they are not back to their best after 12 months. Von looked a lot better against the chiefs, but he was useless for most of the season, and probably still only 80 to 90% now. and this is something like 14 months post injury. Tre took somewhere between 15-20 months to get IT back.
  19. a couple nice guys, but i agree. maybe dungy was a good coach, but not a difference maker when it's best vs best. he's probaby pretty close to what McD is.
  20. Im not sure Manning ever played for a great coach. that would explain why the 2nd best qb ever "only" has 2 SBs. He was basically his own coach. He ran the room with the teams he was with. But that's not enough come playoff time.
  21. i legitimately felt bad for Diggs after last season. in a lot of ways you could understand how frustrated he was, and why he would act the way he did. the tables and turned and now he needs to look at himself in the mirror. hopefully, given some time, he will be able to reflect on what happened and take some accountability
  22. 6-8 weeks ago, i didn't think we'd get floyd back. now i think we should only take him back for the same or even less. haven't seen much of him lately. 1 sack in the last 8 weeks. none in the last 5. how much money is 10 sacks in the first half of the season worth?
  23. i have seen less people talking about him than McD, Diggs, and play calling. there will always be a few crazy people out there. overall, i think few of us were surprised, shocked, or deeply angered at him for missing. We already had the discussion about Bass being mediocre in the aftermath of the blocked kick last week. I think the majority acknowledge we need to move on from him.
  24. Brady's offense is a reflection of what mcdermott is asking him to do. it's this "complimentary football" nonsense. basing so many of our calls on burning clock instead of going with highest percentage plays from down to down. ESPECIALLY when you are losing. and the fake punt was incredibly stupid. people understand being aggressive. but asking DAMAR HAMLIN to make a play is a non-starter.
  25. Allen wasn't even allowed to execute a passing offense last night. They spent the entire first half throwing screens and running, to keep the chiefs off the field because of our porous defense. It worked. THey kept doing it in the third and some into the fourth when it was well past expiration. Allen never even got a chance to cook. and a couple times when he balled out, he was failed by a 30 million dollar receiver and our very nice guy left tackle who i don't want to say anything bad about, because it's not like he got beat up all night. just the one time when he needed him not to.
