I typically don't get all the P*TSD around here... but I'm feeling it too these days, seeing them at the top of the division! Recall when after the Chiefs game, the concern was the Bills had an easy schedule till the Bucs, that it would be hard for them to remain focused? Talk about overconfidence... But at least the Bills can handle it! Sweep the Pats* and the Jets, and playoffs are a sure thing

Harrison Phillips playing through torn PCL
Jerome007 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beasley played with a broken leg. He does with a PCL. And so do many players. Yet most fans demean them. Hopefully their teammates appreciate and they get compensated -
More Kent Clark than Superman, IMO And McCaffrey was simply overused. In the past, IDK about now.

I agree... but the Bills do need to... stop the run! Putting 5 DLs at times, often using 54 along 49 & 58 on 1st downs. Make them throw! If White is down, using 5-2-4 and 4-3-4 instead of the so far usual 4-2-5 could help stop the run. Not for all teams, but the heavy running teams like Pats, Colts, Titans, Ravens. Bills have more weapons. They should win.

This When you play defense, if the OL is pushing and going downfield, you KNOW it's a running play. As defensive players, it's part of your read. And as mentioned, the OL blocking DBs downfield would be, hum, dangerous for the DBs' health ha ha. On the penalty called on the Bills, I can understand the guys downfield, they had no one in front of them! But it was the right call regardless.

Yes but it has to be drilled, practiced. This game, as in the Jets game, we saw more FB time, an extra blocker, etc. And in this Saints game the Bills used way more short passes, sweeps, even one 3 "backs" set. And... it worked. Very few long passes but they moved the ball at will. If they can mix back the long plays more as well, this is gold. Josh was still being forced to be a moving pocket way too often though. But anything that helps the OL, do it!

Have fun! My GF made me realize the "no mask" aspect of the crowd, the simple normality of it all. So good to see people celebrating, having wholesome fun, in groups, free, bonding, being... humans ha ha. A victory to top this off is what I wish you and all of us!

Henry was still a beast even with just one long run, and it made for tons of passes out of play action, but it was mostly HIM the factor. While with the Colts, yes Taylor is very very good, but it's the 5 guys on the OL that were the stars IMO. They could have made zero passes and won! Edmunds was out, put as mentioned in this thread and others, put the occasional 5 DL, so 5-2-4 instead of 4-3-4 (or 4-2-5). The Bills secondary is among the very best in the NFL, but why not, you know, help them by stopping the run on early downs so they make even more plays.

Oh so as your screenname indicates, you're a heels guy, not a toe guy. OK then

Greg Cosell, NFL Films painted a not-so-great picture on Bills O

ALL teams have weak spots. ALL. Who are the undefeated teams in the NFL?... Yeah, none. Salary cap is there for a reason. "I think he saw the O-line and RB situation as "good enough." " For sure. Not that he liked it, but he made that gamble with all the other pieces he had to take care... and with whom were AVAILABLE. Too many fans think there is this mystical magical shelve with great players you just pick from. Most great players are locked and unavailable! Salary cap or not, 32 teams want great players. So I would agree he made some gambles, but he had to make tough choices. It comes with his job. To say he didn't make much of an effort is quite the stretch! And, BTW guys, this season is not over yet. If they win it all like last year to close out the year, Beane will be a genius again. If they don't make the playoffs... PITCHFORK -
Well, if it cleans up their act and stop them acting from a place of impunity, which is the root of all evil, then fine by me. I don't want all details, nor the league to hurt. But if it's temporarily wounded to heal better, as in some of the top echelon guys feeling the heat, good. All fans, players, former players, coaches, etc. want to feel good about it all. Normal human reaction. And in this case discussed on the thread, it's to NOT have the Bills move! So I think it matters.

Have you watched the interview or are you just parroting media lines? Anyway, he didn't lie to his team and the NFL, which is what matters, got fined for other stuff, so now, it's about toe(s) He should have painted his toenails just to mess with Rex Ryan (arrggghhh, I just made myself throw up) That pic reminds of me of the old men in gym locker rooms, using the air dryer to dry their balls for all to see ha ha

Yes! Since they mostly play 2 LBs, instead of 5 DBs, sometimes put 5 DLs. They rotate so much anyway it sure can be done. Especially against good OL and running teams. If Edmunds is still out, 3 LBs is not really an option. But even when back, the occasional Milano-Edmunds-Klein sighting would be good too. Blitz Klein or Milano and voila, 5 on 5. Which should free LBs to make tackles on run plays, and increase the chance of sacks on pass plays. But it has to be drilled. The Bills secondary is awesome and almost never has broken coverages. No need to start now by confusing them...

Just like Incognito, sometimes the DISCIPLINE of living the life of a NFL player is better for them. People most often freak out when alone, at night, doing drugs, etc.

Greg Cosell, NFL Films painted a not-so-great picture on Bills O
Jerome007 replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes... but not really. Watch the Bucs, or even, gulp, a team that used to have Brady as QB. Lots of different sweeps and quick passes, which are fast out of the QBs hands and almost equivalent to run plays. Of course with a mobile QB like Josh you can have a moving pocket as well from time to time. Even obvious straight running plays aren't predictable, like having 2 or even three(!) RB in the backfield. They make it unpredictable, so when they need the OL to pass protect for a long time, it come more as a surprise than a given. Keep the D guessing and the DLs demoralized with so many quick plays, instead of gunning for Josh every play. The Bills OL is NOT built for power running like the Colts. But they also have been put out to dry way too often. All these things add up. The coaches actually did way more in the Jets game, with the FB being there a third of the time, and an extra 6th OL occasionally. In the Colts game they had 2 drives in the 1st half! And by then they were behind too much. They showed in that Jets game they were willing to adjust. Do it more! Yes the Bills have to adjust, for sure. But just saying "run the ball" will mean a lot of 2nd and 9... -
Since they play the 4-2-5 nickel so much, why not try an occasional 5-2-4? They have a lot of DLs so that they could use 5 at times, and free the LBs to tackle if nothing else. When the opposing OL is pushing the Bills DL 3-4 yards down the field, it matters little if it's nickel or not back there. Since the Jets game, the Bills O have used the FB a lot more and added a 6th OL a few times too. Try something different on the D when facing run heavy teams!

I still recall wanting to fight half the bar when the "Music City Miracle" happened LOL

Not sure if It’s coaching , talent , effort, Do youself a favor;
Jerome007 replied to DrPJax's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems that way to me too. He can make GREAT gameplans at times, but shows little ability to adjust during games. Watching the Bucs on MNF yesterday, so many sweeps, short passes, quick outs, then a big play, and so on. Even the obvious run plays they could have 3 backs with Brady, so defenses don't even know which to tackle. Not one thing works so magically for them, but it's the constant guessing by the defense. The Bills O have the tools, and all this protects the OL, which is a weak point yes, but they are asked to do too much IMO. Allen keeps runing for his life this year. Last yeat he had time to throw. Why did that fall off I have no clue but gameplan for it! The Bills D still can get pushed around by strong running teams, that's roster, not schemes. Recall on Sunday it was the only time the Bills were behind at half time this year! Hence why we didn't see that many run heavy offense against them. What about playing FIVE defensive linemen at times? Free Milano and Klein to make the tackle. And they have so many DLs, it can be done, once in a while. -
Well. Im that guy ha ha. If they lose again on Thursday now I'll really go crazy and foaming at the mouth. Win this one and the two Pats game and they're in!
