  1. Ahh. If you score a TD there is 100% chance that 6 points go on the board for you. That’s the rule. Lookit, I agree it’s a debatable decision. It seems to me that too many coaches try to overthink situations. Score points whenever you have a chance is a good general guideline.
  2. Your analysis of the situation is correct. But the determination that it was the “right” decision is dependent on the percentages assigned. Where did you get those numbers from? I could just as easily say in a snowstorm there is a 5% chance of missing the kick and a 2% chance of a TD with 40 sec left. Then it’s the wrong decision.
  3. Am I crazy for saying that the media seems to like Allen, and rather than give it to Mahomes a second time, a tie goes to Allen or Hurts? And if Hurts is hurt, then maybe Josh is favorite, so long as he wins out and plays well the rest of the way. I think Allen is clearly "more valuable" than Hurts. Hurts has a stronger supporting cast (OL, RB, WR). Look at it this way. If Allen was on Eagles, whats their record? 14-0 maybe? If Hurts is on Bills, whats Bills reccord? 8-6/9-5? Who led more comebacks? Mahomes is a different story. He's every bit as valuable as Allen, maybe more so. But Allen is a likable guy, so it wouldnt surprise me if Meida decided to give him a win in a close race.
  4. Not true. this is really a simple and well known statistical question. You simply need to do a students t test comparing the yards gained for each of the 11 plays he was out vs the 72 he was in. My guess is that you would have a significant result.
  5. Ahh, I think Tony Romo may differ with your opinion on automatic kicks.
  6. Let’s put it this way. If bills coaching staff didn’t give singeltary explicit instructions to score or not score, they’re idiots. That’s like giving your punter the option to run or punt when the game is on the line in your own end. Players shouldn’t be making that decision, coaching staff should.
  7. Let’s be clear, I doubt this was a thought that just popped into Singletarys head during the run. Given that it was an iffy decision, I’m sure that MCD said don’t score, no matter what. They’re not going to leave that decision to a 3th year RB. For the record, I thought it was a bad decision. You play to win the game. I saw psu lose a game against bama in exactly this way. Kicker missed from the 5 yd line as time ran out. and this game had a wintry mix. A gutsy, but unwise call in my opinion.
  8. I’m 99% sure you’re incorrect. Bills had fans and cooling benches but weren’t allowed canopies similar to the injury tents. That’s what they needed more than anything to provide shade form direct sun, which the dolphins were provided via stadium roof. This is the crux of the unfair advantage and the entire discussion.
  9. Gotta say that this is pretty close to how I feel about Mahomes.
  10. Ahhhh…. Didnt the Bills past 2 seasons end with losses to the Chiefs? So wouldn’t that be 2 Chiefs wins right there?
  11. Think you missed my point. Married men tend to live near where their wives grew up.
  12. I don’t know. Kelly stayed in Bflo, but his wife was from Bflo and Kelly grew up 3 hrs south of Bflo. Josh grew up in CA, and his GF is from CA. I think he’s goin back there.
  13. ? No, that’s the key, he wasn’t inbounds. He was OOB (out of bounds). If a guy juggles a pass for 20 steps in bounds, it a catch. if a guy juggles a pass for 20 steps, never has clear possession, and goes oob while juggling, it’s no catch. Have to have complete possession, including not losiing clear possession when hitting the ground. In poyers case, he bobbled the bal oob, so no catch.
  14. Guys, this has been a rule for at least 5 years. You see plays like this every wknd. If you bobble the ball oob, that’s losing possession. It’s really straightforward. if a guy gets 2 feet down, and then bobble the ball oob before turning upfield or some other Football move, it’s no catch. It really was a pretty obvious call.
  15. Copy pasted this from last nights thread. “Just rewatched the Hamlin hit in end zone. By rule, the roughness call may be correct. But ejection was a bad call. Here’s what happens. Pat WR catches ball in air, returns to ground. Then, he lowers his head, as he is anticipating Hamlin hit. So he’s NOT really defenseless. Makes a move to protect himself by getting lower. Problem was, by getting lower, he ducks his head right into Hamlins shoulder pad. If he hadn’t ducked, Hamlin shoulder would have hit his chest, not his head. Hamlin didn’t lead with helmet. Hamlin didn’t launch. Bad call. “

  17. Did you know he graduated from Harvard?
  18. TL;DR Get rid of McD AND Beane. Im not going to say that this is a really really stupid post because that would be against the board code of conduct. But if someone else said it was a really stupid post, I might agree with them.
  19. The quote from Marv is good. he’s saying that part of luck is random “the opportunity”, but part is non random “preparation”. If a deflected ball bounce to you, that’s (mostly) random. If youve trained yourself to always be alert to the possibility of deflected balls and done enough tip drills, that’s where preparation comes in.
  20. Actually, I think this is pretty meaningful info. Anecdotally, it seems that kickers never miss against us, andWR don’t drop balls, but make highlight reelctches I don’t think all these categories are complete luck, for instance, a great D always has a lot of players rallying to the ball. luck has a way of regressing to the mean, which is good news for Bills fans.
  21. Ahh, not the exact same thing. 3 of 4 signed players have played for 5he Bills recently, so presumably can get up to speed quickly.
  22. Actually, I think they could have done that an infinite number of times. After a few times, I guess the officials could have started calling unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and begin kicking players out of the game for having two unsportsmanlike calls. But the offense only needs one Offside penalty and the game would be over. if it was the Pats I think that’s exactly what they would have done. And instead of a fumble, we’d be hearing how smart Bellichek was, and how well he understood the rule book.
  23. Can’t be reliable if you’re not on the field. TJ hasn’t missed a game. To be clear, when healthy, Poyer, Hyde, and White are all better players than TJ.
  24. Don’t know what you’ve been watching. TJ has been our most reliable secondary player this year.
