Huh. Interesting pronoun choice. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Is that correct about vesting? I seem to remember another player (not Bills) holding out until game 8 or so, because that was the latest he could wait and still get pension credit.

So you know what type of athlete Parino was by listening to him talk? Thats quite a talent!

Who was invited to Josh and Hailee's wedding?
pennstate10 replied to Willie West's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cool. I’m curious if any dads who have actually hosted a daughters wedding agree with that opinion. In my experience, brides want every thing to go smoothly on their wedding day. Don’t get me wrong. I think todays weddings are very much “over produced”. My girls were both strongly encouraged to hire a “wedding planner” for another couple thousand on top of other costs. To their credit both girls figured that they didn’t need a planner. But a quick run through so everyone knows what they do when? I think that’s a good idea. -

There is a choreography to these things. Who moves when, who walks with who, who turns left and right, etc. it’s not rocket science, but it’s not trivial either. -
That’s not really true. Yes, they have positional flexibility, especially for injury, but when they played single high, Hyde was almost always high and Poyer at LB level. Bills played Hamlin in the Hyde position but he really isn’t fast enough. Thats why I think Bishop, who may be more suited to the Poyer position, takes over for Hamlin this year. Hamlin is not fast enough for the Hyde position.

Who are the other 2 guys in picture?
-
Well, I guess it depends on how you define elite. Is it top 25? Top 50? Top 100? Or some completely different metric. For what it’s worth, ESPN and NFL each put out a top 100 list. Base on a panel of experts or NFL players. Mailata wasn’t on either list.
-
AJ Brown and Barkley yes. Mailata and Carter aren’t elite. Neither is McDuffie.

Dude was our clear 2nd best WR last year and now is getting cut?

I think it’s a pretty big deal. Especially for a team in its Super Bowl window. Hamlin supposedly ran 4.6 at his pro day, but he plays slower than that. he’s not Micah Hyde. Id prefer that he play into his mid thirties as a contributor for the Jets.

Being slow is a pretty serious flaw for a safety. Just sayin

Anyone help me out here? I tried looking up beat wife on urban dictionary but none of the answers fit.

The Battle for Jobs at Safety and Corner.

I think Hamlin is out. Too slow. Good chance that Hancock beats Lewis for slot/safety double duty backup. Hardy is a dark horse here. He’s a better slot cover guy than most people think. If he can show he makes better decisions in punt return game, he might take Codringtons place. -
What is your favorite totally random Bills game?
pennstate10 replied to T.E.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
My family moved to Buffalo (Tonawanda to be precise) in 1967, and I immediately became a Bills fan. That was a disappointing year, but I had great hopes for the 1968 season. However, Bills were down to their 5th string QB by the end of the year and finished 1-12-1. But early in the year, I talked my father into taking me to a Bills game at the old Rockpile. We parked in some guys yard for $2, which dad declared a “ripoff”. Game was against the NY Jets and Joe Namath. Namath was unstoppable (mostly) and threw 8 TD passes that game. But, the Bills won 37-35. Turns out 3 of Namaths TD passes were pick 6’s. As I recall, Jets were driving for a game winning FG as the game ended. Only game the Bills won that year. -
The eagles showed how to beat Mahomes. Press his outside receivers (so he can’t complete the quick pass) and get strong pressure with 4DL. it’s not that Bills weren’t smart enough to figure this out. They didn’t have the players. That’s why Bills now have 4 new CB and 6 new DL.
-
I posted this in a different thread. eagles beat KC not because of their pass rush, but because of their corners. Against the Bills , Mahomes was getting the ball out in <2.5 sec. And completing key third downs because our corners were to far back and gave up easy quick throws. Even the best edge isn’t getting there in 2 sec. The DL comes into play when Mahomes sees his first and second reads are covered. Now we are beyond 2.5 sec and DL can get home. I really think press coverage couple with aggressive pass rush is how you beat Mahomes. I’m hoping to see more aggressive CB play on 3rd and short /mid this year.

Dummy! Dont you know that all nfl teams play with 2 safeties? If not 3.

Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)
pennstate10 replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
Moore is a lot like KJ Hamler who is already on Bills practice squad. At PSU, Hamler was both quick and fast. His biggest problems were getting off LOS, hands, and ball tracking. Given that he didn’t play for Bills last year, I’d guess that either injuries have hurt his speed, or that his ball skills haven’t improved. -
Kentucky is in the SEC.

56. Collins Tx DT 62. KJ Winston PSU S. Winston tore his ACL in Sept. Ran a 4.50 40 at pro day 6 months later. Was 4.38 prior to ACL, so he’s got good speed. Had zero missed tackles in 2023. Projected as first round player prior to ACL tear. Package 4 and 5 to move into mid round 3 and take best WR left out of Horton, Royals, Williams, Noel

Not sure I understand this logic. would you ban a poster if he (she, they, it, them) posted “next play is a deep shot to Knox” in the in game thread? Cause that’s the same as tipping that Giants are taking Carter. Maybe it right, maybe not.
-
I’ve probably watched every snap of Carters PSU career. what stands out is his explosiveness and closing speed. Especially obvious from the second level. I think his best position is 3-4 OLB. Not that he can’t play a 4-3 DE (which is what he played last year), but he is a bit light for 4-3 DE, and his speed seems to fit best at 3-4 OLB. Like TJ Watt, no need to get tangled up with OT at LOS.

I think the Super Bowl showed us that press man coverage is better than elite pass rush. Mahomes was getting the ball out in less than 2.5 sec vs Bills. So he beat the pass rush with his quick throws against Bills zone. Eagles pressed KC WR so Mahomes had no one to throw to at 2.5 sec. Allowing Eagles rush to take him at 3+ sec. Even though I think Carter is better than Parsons — more explosive, better short area quickness—Take the elite man press CB.

Bills Related Draft News & Discussion
pennstate10 replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was listening to a couple Bills podcasts over the wknd. many podcasters and fans seem to think we should package a bunch of picks to move up in the top 5, because we need a “difference maker” on defense. off the top of my head, most impactful defense players are Chris Jones, TJ Watt, Maxx Crosby, and Miles Garrett. Watt was late 1, Jones was 2, and Crosby was 3. I don’t think you need to get into the top 5 for a difference maker. Given the draft selection is inherently imperfect with today’s technology, I think it’s smarter to take multiple picks in rounds 2 and 3.
