  1. It's not just about 2019 though. It's about setting this team up for continued success in 2019 and beyond. They can't just go on a shopping spree and sign a bunch of bad contracts so we can compete in 2019. Still have to continue to spend judiciously if you're aiming to set yourself up for years to come.
  2. It was both a bad pass and a drop. However..the fact that it was a catchable ball indicates that the bigger issue is the drop.
  3. I have no idea why they resigned Bortles. Put any mediocre QB on that team and they would be in playoff contention. I haven't seen much of Bortles play besides the two games vs the Bills, but that is honestly all you need to see. Guy couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat Why did they keep him? Did Marrone prefer him? It seems unlikely, since one of the reasons he left the Bills was because EJ Manuel was being forced down his throat. you mean to tell me that he preferred Blake friggin Bortles going into the season?!
  4. Honestly, I thought Allen had a great game throwing the ball. The stats don't really show it, but I think he was pretty accurate for the most part. My favorite throw (besides the TD to Foster) was the one where they had 3rd and 16 and he threw a rocket to the receiver who was 15 yards down the field. The play was called back, I think, because of an offensive line penalty (Bodine-hands to the face?). The other really good throw that he didn't get credit for was the deep one to Deonte Thompson. Great throw, catchable ball, DT just couldn't come down with it. Hopefully the two of them get more on the same page in the coming weeks.
  5. Even Josh Allen doesn't agree with this list: The only list Allen should be ranked #1 on (at this point) is QBs with the strongest arm. Dude can sling it, just not always in the right direction
  6. cutting o'leary was a big mistake, imo. he was sure handed and reliable
  7. Is it a playoff team with Tyrod? Possibly. It happened last year, it certainly could have happened again this year with our defense being what it is Is it a superbowl team with Tyrod? Not a chance. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Tyrod is an okay starter for a team with a dominant defense, but nobody is going to be winning superbowls with him (unless he's a backup)
  8. the sad thing is i didn't even think about playoffs, i just assumed you meant peterman by "the p word" peterman, aka voldemort. he who must not be named
  9. Yeah, I agree, aside from selecting QBs (one QB pick can turn a franchise around very quickly-but this is unlikely to be what Buffalo is picking). Bottoming out in the NFL isn't necessarily a single year thing a majority of the time-usually a team will be down there for a few years, until they acquire enough talent to leave the bottom. Non-QBs can't influence the outcome of a game as much as players in other sports. I think the Bills have a chance to have a nice turnaround though because they have a young QB already and they have a decent defense. These sorts of team compositions are usually what fuels a quick turnaround. Look at the Bears this year. Look at the Eagles after they got Carson Wentz. Look at the Rams. They all already had a decent defense and a young QB, but bringing in a new offensive strategy changed their entire outlook. I think the Bills are a few offensive players short of being able to have a turnaround like that, but having a high pick and buckets of cash when combined with a change of OC could certainly go a long way towards fueling a pretty quick turnaround. edit: the other side of this coin is obviously mcdermott. he needs to be willing to change his offensive philosophy. he hasn't really shown the willingness to change
  10. The reality is that the higher your draft position, the better your chance is of hitting on the prospects, no matter what the sport. Sure, there are teams that annually screw up the draft no matter where they pick (Browns), but that doesn't really change the fact that the draft is the great equalizer. It's how bad teams become good teams
  11. It's funny because people have been saying we need to bottom out for years. All of a sudden, we are actually bottoming out and now people act like the sky is falling. It's almost like people want to us to be 7-9 every year. The Bills already have half of the equation- the defense. With a ton of money to spend, some high draft picks, and Allen having a year under his belt...the offensive turnaround should be pretty sharp when it comes
  12. The positive take away is that we are one game closer to the end of the season?
  13. A lot of those throws were garbage time vs the Saints, if I recall correctly. The Saints were giving the Bills everything underneath and letting them just march down the field slowly because they were winning by like 30 points I think the best thing that the coaching staff can do for Peterman is not call any of those short out routes. It seems that the cornerbacks jump this route on Peterman every time and I would be willing to bet that at least 3 of his interceptions came on these plays. If the coaching really wanted to get intelligent, they should use the defense's aggression against themselves when Peterman is in, pump fake the out and then have the receiver go
  14. With the QBs available and the talent on our offense, we are going to be bad regardless of who you stick in at QB. Might as well just stick with the dunce that you already have on the team (Peterman) rather than spending money or draft picks for some other schlub to come in and fail edit: also, regarding peterman, why is he always decked out like he is going to be put in the game at any moment? dude always has his helmet on.. on the sideline
  15. I think it's hard to differentiate success of the two. They have been a pair since they arrived and we all know McDermott has his hand in personnel decisions. I'd say that it all depends on how they spend that mountain of money next year. I'm at about 50% chance of success (success being defined as making the playoffs in the next 2-3 years)
  16. With the way they've been protecting QBs this year, you may just have a point. I am actually the Berg of Buffalo my friend, sorry to disappoint
  17. I really wonder how Derek Anderson is feeling about this whole situation right now. He knows the Bills offensive talent is subpar. He knows that if he goes in, he's going to take a beating on a weekly basis. I highly doubt he signed up for this expecting to play. Is it possible that we could we have a second halftime retirement?
  18. Honestly, that's what progress looks like. Allen played a smart game, he threw it away when he needed to, he wasn't taking sacks, he wasn't making awful throws that resulted in interceptions. He is improving in the areas that he needs to improve in. You can't ask for much more from a raw prospect. Just keep getting better game by game
