  1. Yeah, I don't really see it either with Cousins. For me, it's not that he is a bad QB. It's that he is going to demand a huge price tag which could actually end up hurting the Jets. The scariest possible thing is for the Jets to draft a rookie QB and see that rookie start year one and immediately have success. That would mean a) we're going to have to be playing the Jets with a competent QB for a long time and b) they're going to get ~4 years of service from said QB at bargain prices
  2. It's pretty depressing seeing the Jets having the opportunity to get a decent QB. I've grown used to Jets having the Mark Sanchez's, Geno Smith's, and Ryan Fitzpatricks. Really makes me realize I take the Jets being bad for granted
  3. Hah! I wish! I feel like that spider would've improved his hands!
  4. I think he'll be just fine once he gets over his case of the dropsies. I feel that his hands will come around eventually. If Zay does come around like I think he will, this draft class will be a homerun! The others aside from Peterman and Vallejo were all excellent picks (can't expect much from a 5th round QB! if he pans out, it's great... but to go into the season expecting him to be the "savior" (pun intended) is a mistake). You can't hit on every pick and hitting on 4/6 picks would be pretty darn good
  5. Why not? More chances at the QB crapshoot can only be a good thing
  6. Was discussing this with a few friends and there were mixed opinions. Was just curious about everyone's take on this. Would you prefer the Bill's didn't make the playoffs this past season, if it meant getting a shot at one of the top QBs in the draft (Rosen, Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, etc.)? I'm going to refrain from giving my opinion in the op so I will not bias the poll
  7. If you think most D1 football players are really getting an education, then you're rather naive. They go to school to play football. Their classwork is as minimal as can be, because it interferes with what they are really there for-football. That's not to say that there aren't people who do get something out of the scholarship, but they are definitely few and far between. The fact of the matter is that the coach holds all the power in the relationship. He controls scholarships and he controls playing time. If the coach says jump, you have no choice but to say "how high?" unless you want to get on the coach's bad side and risk losing playing time or your scholarship. If he says "play the game despite your injury", you play the game.
  8. Honestly, I disagree with this. Did you see the Falcons game? He played great. If the Bills got that level of play from their QB we might still be in it (or at least have made it past Jville). The game vs. the raiders would actually appear to be the anomaly (but he didn't have to do much that game anyways). He played one quarter vs. the cowboys I wouldn't be angry if they got Foles regardless of how he does in the Superbowl, assuming the price is right. I'm willing to write off St. Louis with Fisher. You saw how Goff appeared post Fisher!
  9. It's nice to hear about someone having the mental strength to endure the criticism and use it as fuel to improve himself. I feel like a lot of people, when put in a similar situation, would hold a grudge against the fan base for calling him out. Not only did he not hold a grudge, but he instead embraced the city for its role in helping him improve. It just goes to show tremendous strength of character, being able to get past that and then come to love everything about Buffalo. Great read, wish AW the best! Another example of his strong character. It would be easy to hate Landry (as much of the Bills fan base does), but he doesn't resent Landry for the hit.
  10. Yeah, I think after this year, the Eagles will likely come out ahead. If he picks off Brady in the superbowl I'm sure a lot of people will be regretting that trade! But for the moment, I'd say it was a wash b/c Darby missed so much of the season and we got a 3rd out of it. Definitely could see the argument that we lost the trade
  11. The way I see it is that the most important trades Beane made were the Watkins trade, the Darby trade, and the Benjamin trade. Watkins trade: I would say we came out far ahead and actually kind of robbed the Rams. Gaines has played great and we got a second out of it (as well as shipping off Watkins, which could be argued as a plus). Darby trade: At this point, it seems like a bit of a wash. We didn't get much out of Mathews and they didn't get much more out of Darby b/c of injury. Mathews didn't do much, but if you consider the fact that Tyrod was the one chucking the ball around, it's hard to blame that on him. It is very likely that next year, the Eagles will get more out of Darby (he ended up with 3 picks despite an injury shortened season). When you consider the 3rd round pick, I'd say it's close and that neither team "won" the trade. Benjamin trade: Early returns have not been the greatest, we will see how he does next year (hopefully with a real QB). At this point, I'd say we came out slightly behind on this one. But this can easily change depending on what happens with him next year. So, for the three most important trades, I'd say Beane came out slightly ahead. But that is subject to change. I know the point of the OP was to say that his transactions as a whole were bad, but I think for the most important trades... we've done alright. With that being said, a lot of the other moves were somewhat silly.
  12. No, there is no conspiracy. The reason that they win all the time is because they have the best quarterback to ever play the game and are coached really well. There isn't a conspiracy and there doesn't need to be one in order for them to win.
  13. As Bills fans, I'm sure there are plenty here that would agree with this fact: you can do a lot worse than Mike Tomlin
  14. Anyone that can turn Derek Anderson into a serviceable quarterback has my vote
  15. I'd like to see a clean break from Dennison now, rather than realizing later it wasn't just the QB. It's the perfect time, since we should be changing QBs. But if they don't for some reason, I think McD has built up enough credit from this season that I will reluctantly trust that decision.
  16. Happy for them. Definitely helps having a QB that can deliver the ball! Hopefully next year we have one ourselves
  17. I honestly don't see how you can argue this. They completely decimated the past regime's player stock. A majority of holdovers from the previous regimes are gone. They have actively separated themselves from the Marrone and Ryan eras (sometimes to the the current regime's detriment!)
  18. they've been targeting taylor's head the whole game. dirty dirty dirty
  19. He certainly deserves to at least be in the conversation. Realistically though, McVay is going to win it (and deservedly so)
  20. The 2014 team definitely schemed better and likely had more talent. But there is this scrappy quality to this team that makes me feel like there is always a chance
  21. You mean to tell me you didn't enjoy his play in 2012 or 2013? The pick was never a good idea, this is universally agreed upon, but I mean come on. He was exciting to watch for a while
  22. Hopefully he sticks with them for the playoffs. When I think of Spiller, a few things come to mind: 1. Spiller wasn't used properly post-Chan. Even after going to the Saints, a place where it would seem he was set up for success (think Reggie Bush!), he still wasn't able to recreate the success he had with Chan. 2. The waste of a high draft pick on another RB. 3. Undue hate for the guy from fans-not his fault Bill's management took a RB that they didn't need 4. The video of him talking about sponge bob Didn't Buddy Nix or Chan Gailey refer to him as a water bug or something like that? I forget what their exact wording was
  23. he's short! baltimore loses! bills go to playoffs! happy new year!!!!!!
  24. wowowowowowow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! huge play bengals! cover the kick, get the W! I can't believe this!!
  25. Never thought I'd say this, but Tolbert is having a pretty good game. Enjoyed watching him today
