Ok, let me put this another way. He has had more NFL success than any rookie QB chosen in the first round will have had. In other words.. he is more de-risked than any draft pick. Look at the list of QBs chosen in the 1st round for the last 10 or so years. Tell me that you wouldn't take Garoppolo over at least 80% of them.

I would absolutely trade a 1st for garoppolo. First of all, he is a quarterback... so there is a premium to be paid for the position alone. Additionally, he has had success in the NFL (thus far) and he also had success in college. If that does not qualify someone to be worth a first round pick, then I don't know what does!

It really is this simple.

To the "hold this guy hostage" crowd: you saw what he could do in preseason. getting anything for him is a coup. Take whatever you can get because he won't be worth it this point in his career

You don't need a ton of separation for most QB's to throw you the ball on the NFL level (arguably this isn't true for Taylor, but that's a whole other can of worms). His issue is just that when he is being thrown the ball, he isn't catching it. Tyrod would not continue to force the ball to Zay if Zay is not getting any separation. This is not a separation issue, it's a catching the ball issue

According to the box score, he was targeted 9 times.. for 2 catches. This brings him to 23 targets on the year with only 5 catches I'm not ready to give up on him yet, he definitely has the physical tools to get the job done. It's just a matter of getting over his case of the dropsies. You don't catch as many balls as he did in college with stone hands.

This sounds like a recipe for a really good outing from Taylor, but he just failed to produce anything. Tyrod is somewhere between bad and mediocre. For a mobile quarterback, he gets sacked an awful lot. He isn't a great passer, doesn't often see the open receiver. He isn't clutch in the fourth quarter. His best attribute is that he doesn't throw interceptions (aka doesn't lose the game for you). Accepting Tyrod's play is accepting mediocrity

It would be an interesting storyline. For EJ's sake, I hope he lights it up as Carr's replacement in the next few games. I doubt that'll happen, but you never know. We've seen Goff go from zero to hero, so sometimes you just need the correct set of people surrounding you to flourish. The comment about the WR's in Oakland vs Buffalo by Smith is pretty inaccurate-we had Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods! Those two aren't exactly awful edit: I don't think he's going to do well, but the chances of him improving are non-zero. w/e we'll see

If Banyard is actually half as good as he was during the pre-season, they should be giving him a chance. I understand the whole "change of pace" idea, I understand that McD likes Tolbert in the locker room, and I also understand that he has some value on special teams. But McD has to realize eventually that he is shooting us in the foot by continuing to play Tolbert as the second back despite having 2 better options available to him

The opener from 2015 was pretty exciting. The colts were supposed to be a Superbowl contender that year and the Bills pretty much dominated them from the get go. Nothing like beating a potential superbowl contender right off the bat to get you excited about the coming season!

seemed like the same old to me. witnessed a lot of stupid stuff on sunday. my favorite was this: some lady stole the entire ketchup dispenser and walked it down to her seat where she sat with it for about a quarter.. until security escorted her and her ketchup dispenser out (she later returned, presumably after returning the ketchup dispenser). what a legend

Always enjoyed reading your write ups on BBMB! Thanks for the good stuff as usual. As for the RB play-I can't help but wonder if Buffalo might be better served by another 2nd choice RB. Would Banyard, Jones, or even JWill (had he remained on the team) do more with those carries than Tolbert? The fact that Tolbert CAN cut doesn't mean he should be granted the 2nd RB spot. I understand the desire to keep him on the roster for short yardage situations, but I don't understand why they are forcing him into the 2nd RB slot when the other backs played so well during the preseason. Shady had a great game. Little bit of a worrying moment when he was being inspected.. but he ended up coming back the next series I believe. If he goes down, the offense will look significantly worse. Here's to hoping that he remains healthy the rest of the year and gives us a shot at the playoffs.

I don't think this is really going to affect the W's or L's. Honestly, we are likely to be bad regardless of whether we have a 36 year old receiver or not. This is just another one of those typical Buffalo Bills moments that have been so common during the drought. Have a laugh at our "bad luck" and move on

This move makes me pretty sad for a few reasons. 1. We used a 4th on Cardale last year.. so basically we're giving up a 4th round pick for a conditional 7th round pick. 2. He was only given one year.. and honestly in the pre-season he didn't look awful (I didn't get to see the last game last year). 3. He was traded to someone who knows what he is getting. Lynn observed Cardale all of last year and thought enough of him to (likely) recommend pulling the trigger on this trade to management. It just feels like one of those Buffalo moves that ends up biting us in the ass later on. I hope not, but I definitely would not be surprised.
