Unpopular Take. The Bills should trade for Rosen
thenorthremembers replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your assumption here is Josh Rosen is a blue chip prospect. The more likely scenario is neither ends up being a Franchise Quarterback and you've just wasted two early draft picks instead of one. -
I wouldn't be against it but I also don't see where it happens right now. Assuming Murray goes first, the Bills don't really have the ammo to move up to 2. The Jets aren't trading with us. Assuming Bosa and Allen go 2 and 3, who are you moving up to 4 to grab? Ed Oliver is much more in the mold of the Defensive Tackles McDermott and Beane have drafted. It will depend on how the draft plays out but I think Oliver will be there at 9 and I also feel like he is the target. McDermott had a comment this past week about how he feels like you can do more with interior rush than edge rush. Coincidentally interior rush is also the thing that messes with Brady the most. With is why I think Oliver is the target.

Thank you for that. I've watched a few games, but it seems like he was splitting out wide most of the time. Didn't get to see him block the way I saw Hock. Oddly enough I came away not all that impressed with Hock's blocking. Like I said, he is tenacious, but I was confused because people were talking about what a great blocker he was. Was much more impressed with Irv Smith. The guy is a complete mack truck when it comes to blocking. But then I watched him drop multiple passes in the three games I took in.

Haven't watched much film on him, but from what I've seen he is a good off the line receiving tight end. But if I am drafting a tight end in the first two rounds I want a player who can be on the field on running downs as well. Hock is probably the best all around tight end in the draft, but I still say his blocking is more desire than technique. There are instances where he looks like he blocking while on ice skates. Irv Smith is a great blocker, but he has suspect hands. Again, I like Fant as a wideout just not sure he will a complete tight end in the league.

Best ever NFL running back
thenorthremembers replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Barry Sanders was the best I ever saw play. But when you look back at what Jim Brown did in both the running and receiving game, in addition to how many times he scored in an era where scoring wasn't incredibly high I think you have to give him the nod as the GOAT. Top Five: Jim Brown Barry Sanders Walter Payton Marshall Faulk LaDainian Tomlinson Saw Tomlinson live a few times, man could he get the corner in an era of faster linebackers. He was a real joy to watch. -
Josh Allen rookie cards - is anyone else All-En?
thenorthremembers replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those cards you mentioned are exactly what I am after. It's kind of criminally insane the Bruce Smith rookie goes for 6 bucks and a Josh Allen is selling for close to a thousand. No offense to JA but it's Bruce. The 65 Kemp is a beauty. Trying to get rookies of all the Bills Wall and Hall of Famers. Picked up a George Saimes rookie for two dollars this weekend. Not worth much to anyone outside of Bills fans but it's a cool looking card. -

The analogy to gambling is 100% correct. People buy boxes more for the chase. What I've seen more recently is a bunch of guys put in money on a 1,000 dollar case break with a pre-determined teams set for each person. -

They are worth whatever someone will buy them for. The problem for cards started in the late eighties, too may companies, too may cards of the same player. Everything is over saturated. Rather than scale back the number of sets they were putting out, the card companies "invented" high end sets like National Treasures, which comes with somewhere around 5 cards per box and sell for anywhere between 800 and 1,000 dollars. Problem is they are still just paper. So once the interest runs out so does the value. It's a fun hobby, but it is oddly expensive for the "high end" stuff. -

That 1960 Kemp is on my list for sure. The vintage cards just look so much better. Sure, they are worth a lot more as well, but there is something about the history and artistry of the cards from that era. -

I just started collecting again. Something I did with my Father, and now my son is old enough I've decided to pass it down. I've been sticking to wall of famer rookie cards and signed 8x10s. My son likes Tre White and Josh Allen. With Allen his autograph is already very expensive. I've seen some of his high end rookie autos going for close to 1k. I'll be honest the investment scares me a bit. The cool thing is Buffalo has a really nice collectors scene. We went to a card show last weekend, there is another this coming weekend, one April 7th in Syracuse and then again in Buffalo in May. You can check out Buffalo Sports Card Convention on Facebook. The shows are like Josh Allen card heaven. His cards are everywhere. It's a nice scene. My son bought a Tre White rookie auto with his chore money and the vendor gave him three rookie cards free, it made his day. Lots of Bills and Sabres fans spending time together. Good luck on your collection. -
I am in no way an expert but I watched a few of his games and thought he looked more like a 7th Round-Priority UDFA. He is incredibly slow, and for being called nasty got blown off the ball quite a bit. Doesnt play with leverage at all, and had a really hard time against good opponents. The Ohio State game from 2017 is especially poor.

Malcolm Mitchell retires

Agreed. Dude made a million and a half over his brief career. If he was smart with his money he can use that free degree he got and still do very well in life. -
CB EJ Gaines 1 year deal
thenorthremembers replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very nice signing. Like this one more than the Johnson signing. But they both make a lot of sense. You have two players still in their twenties, if one of them can beat out Wallace you can sign them more long term next year. Well done Beane. -
Shaq Lawson 5th year option
thenorthremembers replied to Bleeding Bills Blue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty torn on this one but I said no. You ultimately have to pay the guy 12.7 million for that year, 13th highest paid Defensive End in the league, just between Brandon Graham and Dante Fowler. Cap Room or not if you're not intending on signing him long term you can use the 12.7 and put it towards signing someone like Yannick Ngakoue who is a far superior player. You'd be better off letting him hit the open market and see if you can bring him back at a lower per year deal if you want him back that bad. He has been nothing more than a good rotational player who has missed 25% of his games. He doesnt have roster value at the 5th round option level. Pass Because he wasnt a top ten pick his option is the average of the 3rd-25th highest paid players at his position. -
[Misleading Title] Dez Bryant let's get it done beane

31 year old wide out who hasn't played in a game since 2017, tore his ACL less than 5 months ago. Do you mean sign him up to work concessions or the Bills Store? -
I'll stick to my Xanax.

If it was anyone else I'd agree with you, but it's the Giants. They were pretty open and honest about the fact they were taking BPA available last year despite needing a QB then too. I think their GM and coach honestly believe that Manning has something left. I would not be surprised at all if they took a pass rusher.
