  1. If the Pats had lost to us, I think they would have played today with a lot more urgency IMO and likely wouldn’t have lost. They treated last week like a playoff game but this week was lip service. Either way, I don’t blame Daboll for not beating NE. We got outplayed...again. We need more talent on offense. We need better Red Zone running. We need more consistent QB play. We need the defense to get more turnovers for us. The OC doesn’t execute blocks or run routes.
  2. Maybe Duke should spend the time that he uses practicing his 7 yard catch celebrations on gunner practice and he would be on the roster every week. Every fan knows the 4-5th receiver on game day needs to be on teams. I dislike Foster and think he is a roster spot waste but why doesn’t Duke play teams should be the main question. Big body guy with speed should be perfect right ? Daboll doesn’t pick teams players. That should be a question for McD that gets asked every week.
  3. My observations are exactly what I expected out of a pseudo preseason game. Playing your backups against another team’s first stringers should rarely yield a win. Random observations of the game: We continue to show that we do not have RB depth as Yeldon is a catch only back who runs way too upright. Duke running around celebrating every 8 yard catch is ridiculous to me. However, he clearly showed there is no reason why we should ever dress Foster again ( find a new gunner McD ). McKenzie makes plays whenever he is given the chance and surprising dishes out some hits for a little guy. Loved him playing defense. Barkley’s mistakes cost us the game. He looked poor in timing, decisions, and basic execution at times. I am sure some of it was the surrounding cast but I hope we find a better backup next year. if we had our back 7 out there we would have had at least 2-3 more picks today. Tommy Sweeney gets open a lot but he literally doesn’t block anyone and he runs like Lee Smith. I didn’t think that was possible. He looks like the next Nick O’Leary / Mark Brammar to me. Frank looked fresh today. I had hoped he had been saving his energy for the playoffs and today it certainly looked that way. Regardless of all the negatives, who cares because today was a practice game to get guys reps. BRING ON HOUSTON.
  4. Honestly after Gilmore I figured we might have to pay $18 / yr by the time Tre came up. He should now get Gilmore money and we should extend him as soon as possible. It shows Free Agents we take care of our best players.
  5. They had way too much hype coming into this year. Too many divas and not enough grit shows. I would dump Kitchens and try to deal one of their expensive wideouts. They need some hunger on offense. OBJ should be their trade chip as he could get a player plus a #1 or #2. Either way they had their chance to step into the gap that will be formed when Ben leaves and Baltimore and likely Cinci, when they draft Burrows, already have better QBs.
  6. Yes, whoever won those cups with Jersey playing the left wing lock. Most boring hockey on the planet.
  7. Anything more than $5 over a 3 yr term for any get RB in this league is a waste of money. If they could get Hunt or Henry for that, so be it. Hunt would be a great spread weapon. While I subscribe to the draft a back in later rounds theory, if getting Hunt allowed us to draft an extra WR or DE in the first 3-4 rounds then I am all for it.
  8. #1 coming into this year is fair, but at the end of the year it is certainly odd. Not many other markets that have consistently been this bad over the last decade and not won any championships for 50+ years. We have never won a championship outside of the AFL. That counts for a lot. No one cares about sports like indoor lacrosse, so no those wins don’t count any more than who wins the Bull Riding Championships. The Bills over-performed and should have bumped us down a few spots this year but I think many nationally might want to see them prove this wasn’t a one year fluke and that they won’t be 8-8 again next year. The Sabres could easily again be a bottom 5 lottery team. Our hockey team with Jack Eichel missing more than 7-10 games would be close to last IMO. I am not sure who the worse markets are, but as a Buffalo fan tried and true, I am usually miserable. Thanks to the Bills for giving me hope that the future will be better, because the Sabres are one of sports worst franchises and it’s hard to watch Jack be wasted every year.
  9. Dear Op Ed please identify any end of the game TD that was a jump ball fade pass in the last decade. It not only never works, but Duke Williams is also not the All Pro type who will make that play which also requires a perfect touch pass from a QB, which is not Josh’s strength. Duke is a CFL player who happens to be bigger receiver. It is likely after the draft that he doesn’t even make next year’s roster. Please stop with the worship over a player that has proven nothing.
  10. I actually think the lack of two quality RBs has hurt Allen. Frank is not a quality RB at this stage and poses no threat in the pass game. He isn’t going to bust off any big runs without a giant hole and he looks way slower than he did at season start IMO. Most quality teams gash you with multiple quality backs. Maybe he is just saving it for the playoffs, where he will suddenly push the gas pedal again, but he looks like a shell of the guy we saw in the first month.
  11. I was living out of the area. So went to a bar with about ten people. None of whom were Bills fans. We got to the bar a few hour before kickoff. Big mistake!! By halftime there were way too many drinks served and most of the people started rooting for the Giants just to piss me off....bleck!! So my wife and I left and watched most of the 2nd half at home. I stood up and began to walk away upon the start of the kick, although I watched it go wide, because I knew he would miss. Norwood had a weakness on grass fields at distance and he proved it again.
  12. Yardage stats stink in general. Good team often get far ahead and then give up yards when the game is out of hand. Good teams force turnovers in bunches and don’t need to have wild yardage differentials either. It’s a bad metric to look at yardage rankings in my mind so I really wouldn’t even guess based solely on that.
  13. Why do people keep quoting Joe B....what expertise does he have?? I just don’t get why anyone quotes anything he says. He has no scouting experience, no coaching experience, nor even a major background in covering the sport at this level. In general this seems to be the worst type of football evaluator. A fan who looks at tape and thinks he can back seat GM. I don’t read him any more that I would read my neighbors’ critiques. We can all make the same type of educated assumptions he does but I don’t spout them off as being some intense all 22 evaluation. This guy doesn’t know a cross check from a crossbuck.
  14. Tannehill will do his usual full season disappearing act next year. Just wait.
  15. Maybe the worst thing I have seen Moorman ever post-that we are greedy and don’t need a #1 WR?? Teams have guys catching 145 passes and RBs catching over 100 passes and we get giddy when we get 1 guy with 75 catches ?? We need a big time #1 to compete for a championship. Period. This is why we can’t compete. The Pats took away Brown and our only WR answer was Beasley because we have no one else. We need teams to single cover Brown and Beasley because they have to cover some Julio Jones caliber player. We do not have that guy. Someone capable of 1400-1600 yards per year that teams have to gameplan against every game. This is a passing league. You need multiple backs and multiple WRs who can scare a defense on any play. I’m pretty sure teams aren’t afraid of anyone not named Brown or Singletary right now. We will be lucky to ever get a bye without one.
  16. Nice only do they rest but I use the old game plan for the Jets and I spend most of my coaches time preparing the Houston game plan.
  17. Mahomes, Wilson or 2 years of Brees I would do.
  18. Fits looks good all the time so I guess that means we should get him also.....
  19. Well said. It also easy to put up stats when your team stinks and you are playing from behind against soft defenses. McD team philosophy is not set up to throw for 300 on a regular basis.
  20. Bingo!!! Blaming this game on Josh is ludicrous. We also gave up 3 75+ yard drives on defense and got outsacked 4-0. Josh could have made some extra plays but he hardly was the difference here. Those 2 bombs are not plays most QBs could make ever. The Brown throw was while getting blasted and throwing with no base. Our terrible running game really hurt. The season stats showed Pats are worst against run when 3 WR, so Daboll goes with 2 WR trying to outcoach Belicheck. How did that work out?
  21. I can appreciate your point of view but I agree more with the “no morale victory” talk coming from the players and coaches. The “atta boy” at the airport is nice but it would motivate me more as an athlete if it was a reward for effort and results and not a given after every game. Do you see my perspective on this?
  22. Sorry but cheering at the airport when you make the playoffs is great. Cheering at the airport when you win or even lose in the playoffs is great. Going to the airport when you lose a regular season game to a team you always lose to makes no frickin sense to me. We didn’t prove anything other than we are still not good enough to beat a 42 year old QB who has his worst offense in years. Expect more !!!!!
  23. My disappointment today was our defense got shredded and looked pedestrian in the 2nd half. Zero sacks vs the Pats 4 sacks was a big difference maker in the game. That final drive it killed our TD chance. I expected our offense to score 20 and they would have done so had they not had to score the TD at the end. Way too many chunk plays against our defense today. If you are going to win on defense then your defense needs to bring it in big games. We didn’t. Guys like Milano, Oliver, Hughes didn’t have any plays that changed the course of the game and the front 7 needed that. Only the backend keeps making plays every week.
  24. Process I agree on every one of your points. DE is the weakness on this defense. No outside pressure and it was evident again tonight. Jerry is becoming a situational guy and should soon be used like Zo was. We need 2 new DEs.
