I agree the good will Beane gets and earned from landing Josh is deserved. But it should not be taken for granted nor does it last forever. I don't know who really makes the picks in the first 3 rounds? I used to think it was McD, then Beane or some combination of both. Now I have no clue. Picks must improve, especially on defense. Brandon knows we must have a game wrecking Dlineman who after 8 seasons he's failed to find. Are we destined to continue getting to a certain threshold only to stop and go no further?

Well he did some stellar player evaluation on Elam, AJE and Basham. Listen I get it. Because they dug us out of the drought and had the incredible insight to land Josh, they get some kind of "lifetime job security award". And that's fine too. In fact I'll go on record as saying Terry is very satisfied with the teams current situation. I don't know if the goal is the SB anymore? I see how aggressive the Eagle organization is with drafting and void years, maybe Terry doesn't have the cash or the motivation to commit to the same strategy? Everything is a guess and speculation. But my gut says if Josh wasn't on this team, getting to double digit wins might be a little dicey.....ya think?

Edmunds and Rousseau are both mediocre 1st round picks who will not be worthy of a 2nd contract with the Bills. Tremaine poached tackles his whole career and after 4 seasons, Groot averages 6.2 sacks. Is that a game wrecker?...elite?....worth 20M/ yr? Can we just admit that defensively Beane's failed in the first 3 rounds. So much so that we resorted to desperation signing a 33 yr old pass rusher. And I guarantee you Donald made Von, not visa versa. If by some act of God we can trade for Maxx/ Myles....at least they're still in their 20's.....

NFL Analyst Says 31 of Top 100 are Defensive Lineman
LABILLBACKER replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
You win SB's with elite players on rookie contracts. Not signing a 33 year old washed pass rusher. It's no news flash that Beane has historically struggled drafting defensive players. I can't tell you why? Brandon not only must draft heavy D this April, but these players must also be BPA. We can no longer target specific positions in specific slots. And as far as McDermott coddling new rookies, this ridiculous practice has got to stop. You sink or swim with these guys. Not bury them in the back of the closet because your GM screwed up. -

I agree, if we fail to land Crosby or Garrett then we better take DL in our first 3 picks. You can land dbs later in the draft or sign a DJ Reed. We need to finally hit on young Dlineman on rookie deals. We can't afford anymore Epenesa's or Bashams. Maybe use the 4th round to find a wr? -
You're right, it's all speculation. On the outside with snow angels and Pats on the back, everything looks wonderful. But IMHO I think Josh is slowly starting to get pissed off. He'll never show it because he's the "good soldier". But if you look at how after that post game presser he was a higher tier of devastated. Something I haven't seen in previous playoff presser losses. He looked completely and emotionally wiped out. This "status quo" strategy of keep doing what we've been doing and eventually we'll break thru isn't sustainable. Every human being has a breaking point. And if this yearly playoff exit continues, there's no way Josh will not complain. I think eventually he'll get tired of wearing the inadequacies of this front office. Josh is not dumb. He knows he's too talented to not be in one SB by now.

Rodgers givin’ the boot from the Jets

This might be an opportunity to poach a Jets defensive player with all this drama and uncertainty? -
I'll always have more admiration for Tomlin than McDermott. He won 2 championships with a HOF qb nowhere near as good as Josh. Sean can't even get to a SB, let alone win one. I think it's safe to say Josh's frustration level with McB is at a warmer level than 2020.

I could care less about the buddy or comfort narrative. Just bring people in that can reduce our yearly injuries by 25%. Who knows what happens if either Kincaid, Rapp or Benford were 100% that last game?

Yeah we really shut down the Rams, Ravens & Lions. Sometimes you just can't cover up stupidity.

I agree, we're going to need alot more than Pegues in the 4th at DT.

He's Mahomes best friend and security blanket. Yes I want him and his temporary girlfriend gone. Make Mahomes work harder. -
Kurt Warner's analysis of the Super Bowl

Only once in 4 playoff games with KC have we ever led at halftime. We're always having to come from behind at some point in the 2nd half. -

Our dbs rarely play press coverage. Von is washed and Greg did a terrible job of maintaining outside contain. Philly's front 4 is 10x more violent than our finesse version. We need defensive upgrades and a scheme change badly. -
This is now on Beane, no question he needs to step up.

We may never get to a SB but at least God will know we'll have the All-NFL Church team. -
Yeah, he kinda sucks at drafting top 3 round defensive players. He's great 4th round and on. Go figure????
