Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season
LABILLBACKER replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I used to think the league was interested in recreating a Brady v Manning rivalry. But that narrative I think is dead and buried. -
Yup, basically what we've failed to do these last 7 years.

This interview never gets old. So true. You can't sue an entertainment league for "massaging" their own games. This isn't fixing...it's revenue management. -

They will probably never gravitate to honest transparency by using technology because it would 100% eliminate their ability to control their game. This is their game, their revenue and their marketing. We will always be at the mercy of this obvious narrative. And there's not a damn thing we can do about it because we're lemmings returning to these same games every year. No matter how bad we get screwed. -
Yes the game was as close as it can possibly get. Both statistically and scoring. So when 2 teams are that evenly matched, it will always come down to coaching and officials. We got 6 documented bad spots. The Worthy/ Bishop catch could've been called 3 different ways. We had twice as many penalty yards as KC. And Reid/ Spags again outcoached Sean and his boys all day. When a game is expected to be that close KC (-1.5) you are 100% guaranteed to get beat by refs and the opposing coaching staff.
-
Well if nothing else I think the odds of us getting one of these 2 guys went up substantially today. And I'd be ecstatic with either guy.

I used to be a huge "draft based on needs" guy. Now I realize that based on Brandon's weakness in drafting defensive players, it doesn't work anymore. From here on out for this team to even survive you must take a BPA philosophy. We absolutely can't afford anymore swing & misses on guys like Elam, AJE, Basham. And who knows if guys like Kincaid, Coleman or Bishop pan out?

FINAL v3.0 now LIVE on p.15 - Gunner's 2025 Mock Draft
LABILLBACKER replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will never forgive this front office for not making a more concerted effort to land BTJ. It would've cost us Cole Bishop....that's it....whoop de doo.... -

Free Agency Splash target should be DJ Reed
LABILLBACKER replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall
He'll get 10M/ yr from somebody. It also wouldn't surprise me to see McB trade up a little in the 1st for Revel. -
Sometimes I picture Sean pretending to be the Mandalorian saying " this is the way ".....🤣 In all seriousness, McB doesn't have the chops to find great (not even elite) Dlineman. So he's forced to rotate Jags for 4 quarters. I guarantee you this will continue till he's replaced, which at this point will be never.

Gonzo Mock Draft Version 3.0 Final Version( Starts on Page 7)
LABILLBACKER replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely....the top priority should be exhausting every trade scenario to land Garrett or Crosby. At least try Brandon. If it falls thru, then we're at the mercy of Brandon & his scouts. -
Gonzo Mock Draft Version 3.0 Final Version( Starts on Page 7)
LABILLBACKER replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Revel gets close to us, I could see McD tell Beane to trade up a couple spots. If he's unattainable then get the best DT on the board (Grant/ Harmon/ Nolen). 56 I'm good with either Harris or Bond. Then get maybe Jack Sawyer or Burch?? -
It's going to take a few hundred more cheeseburgers for that.

Is McD actually compensating for Beane?

He was 33 years old when we signed him. That is so unbelievably risky, especially at the cost. Beane probably will never offer a large FA contract to a pass rusher over 30. That's why it's gotta be Garrett/ Crosby or bust in a trade. -
He's never getting fired. Terry is too terrified to do it. Sean has this folk hero following because he dug us out of the drought. If he hadn't acquired Josh, he would've been fired years ago. He and Beane have done a poor job building this defense, whether you believe in the nickel zone or not. All we can do as a fanbase is continue to support Josh. And try to convince ourselves that the yearly "Schotty awards" will be the culmination.

There's no way in hell I'm paying Greg anything past 14-15/ yr. And that's being generous. He's the epitome of Gabe Davis and Tremaine Edmunds. In 4 full seasons he's averaged 6.2 sacks. If this doesn't reek of Chris Kelsay, I don't know what does. We may be forced to sign him because we don't have anyone else. Von will be gone June 1st and there's no way we keep AJE after 2025, who's been more disappointing than Groot. We must go after a Cosby or Garrett. And we must draft multiple DL guys and pray one hits. Obviously I have little faith in Beane and his scouts, defensively.
-
And there lies the #1 problem. McD can take a good player and turn him into a good player. Reid takes a good player and turns him into a GREAT player. All of our coaches (McD, Brady, Babich, Smiley) are like children getting outcoached by grown ups. If our exact team was coached by KC's people, I guarantee you we'd have 2-3 championships. Sean is a good man and a nice dude, but don't kid yourself thinking he's ever getting Josh & Co to a SB.

Looking at some mocks I see alot of Harmon or Grant @ 30. Even saw a couple trade ups for Luther Burden III (WR/ Mizzou). Maybe JTT as a possible edge rusher? If Revel falls to us, I think Sean would run to the podium. Also Nolen is in the mix too. Those are the key positional areas!
