  1. He should have went for it on the 4th and short late. Their kicking situation is shaky; have to be able to get a half yard.
  2. It is, and hasn’t been adequately addressed to date. Some of that is directly on him. This unit could have Watkins and Smith -Schuster for example. That’s squarely on his shoulders.
  3. A look at the offensive roster says yes, they are a year away. Major work ahead for Beane and Co to add talent.
  4. I just don’t think the Bills coaching staff “ gets” offensive football. Major concern, and probably will be their downfall.
  5. The scheme is poor, but the Bills skill position players are sub par. Brown and Beasley are all they have. The rest of their guys aren’t stars on any NFL team.
  6. While I’ve long thought that the 10th win wouldn’t come until the week 17 Jets game, it no longer seems likely. A more likely scenario is the Bills will have run out of chances before that. Week 17 may only get them to 8 or 9. I’d guess no. He returns, they get another FA period to address the offense and pass rush as well as the draft. If things haven’t improved by the end of next season he’s on the hot seat.
  7. It probably is, but they won’t be any more talented next week. They are what the record says they are. Can’t beat more talented teams, they can win close games with the rest. Another close game that could go either way with a play here or there is on deck.
  8. I’m curious if the catastrophe at the end was strategy or just incompetence , confusion and lack of preparation. In the heat of the moment, I wasn’t thinking it was deliberate. It looked like a cluster.
  9. Possibly, as the coaches think he is. Perhaps they will make a change. Sure, it would be great to have a superstar at every position on D and have no weaknesses. That’s unlikely to happen in today’s league. Some pass rush once in awhile would probably cease any griping about Wallace. The defense isn’t the problem with this team right now.
  10. Of course it is. Defense has been pretty consistent and you know what you’ll probably get. The problem is, the offense has been consistent too....consistently below average. It will be close, and if they win fans will have to sweat it out again.
  11. Obviously kicks were missed. The Bills should have had a couple of shots at a game winning TD and a more manageable FG attempt if they had managed the end of the game efficiently. It was sloppy and they wasted a lot of time off the clock. Plays were curious as well.
  12. Deferring gives you the potential for back to back possessions before and after halftime . Not sure if it has an impact at the end of the game; too many things can happen in quarters 3 and 4.
  13. Possibly. It depends how much time was left when the drive ended, where the Bills got the ball etc etc. If the Bills score a TD on their final possession the game is almost certainly over. The defense is above average. They can’t always cover for a bottom 5 or so offense. Football rules aren’t set up that way. The offense has to do its part.
  14. Except it wasn’t the final drive. The Bills got the ball back with about 1:40 on the clock and a timeout. You should win or tie that game 90% of the time. It’s a ton of time, and they couldn’t do it. Sometimes the team who has the ball last is going to win the game, and this should have been one of those times. NFL rules don’t favor the defense.
  15. Nah, holding teams to 12 points on the road is a little bit high of a standard to expect all the time. More than 14 points on offense is not. It’s barely functional at the NFL level. The defense is more than functional, they’re pretty good.
  16. Yep. Score 24 plus per game on average. Don’t need 330 yards passing to accomplish that. Dabolls scheme has no rhythm or reason too it. Just throwing plays out there. Should have methodically went down the field with a couple shots at the TD and at least a makeable FG try if they couldn’t connect. It felt like CLE had the advantage, where if the Bills D was up against that situation in the end I would think they’ve probably lost.
  17. Seriously, a few yards looks like a struggle. The lack of cohesion in the final sequence today was stunning. As Collinsworth pointed out, it can’t be defended.
  18. Do the Bills ever throw into the end zone like that ?
  19. Lol these plays go in and out of fashion, but I know what you mean. Still, that play always made me nervous for some reason.
  20. Easy. Draft one, and pay another some money. The Bills currently have two WRs that belong on an NFL roster and one of them is a slot WR.
  21. Nah it’s been around for a long time, just a variation of a shovel pass. Takes the risk of a fumble out of the equation , but it can turn into an INT if batted around.
  22. If the team doesn’t have a winning record when next November rolls around.
  23. Yep. If it went thru Hunts arms and into Hughes hands it would have been an INT. It hit the ground, therefore it’s incomplete. Not sure why people can’t understand this.
  24. Not even sure if it would be right to consider a collapse, rather than a product of the schedule. The second half has better, more talented teams than the first. A lot of fans would say they expect the team to lose most of those games because the team isn’t that good. So it’s not a collapse so much as a predictable outcome of the schedule playing itself out.
