If they don’t add significantly to the offense, that will be their demise with the Bills.

Before the season I figured anywhere from 7-10 wins. Still sticking with that projection; this isn’t an 11 win team even with an easy schedule and few injuries. Tasker is nuts.

[Name Only Title] Leslie frazer

I said they’re not elite. Still a couple players away from that, but they are legit. -
Funny thing is, I doubt many of these fans were clamoring for Jackson . ( I liked him at Louisville and thought he should be a consideration if the team didn’t want to move up). Further, Harbaugh and the Ravens really had to step back and think outside the box with him. I doubt the Bills would have drafted Jackson, but I also don’t think they have the creative side to their coaching for it to succeed. He went to the best situation possible for him, and is thriving as a result. The draft is a crapshoot, but some of it comes down to situation and coaching as well.

No. Where are the inflated offensive stats from the week schedule? Defense has been very consistent regardless of opponent. Pats scored only 16. ( one TD was a return) . TEN seemed able to score on the Chiefs defense, not on the Bills. The Bills D is legit, if not quite elite. Only one game got out of hand ( Eagles) and not until late. Only the W/L record is inflated by the schedule, and it’s because the offense is sub par. -
If the Bills lose games to teams they are expected to lose to ( even by fans) , that doesn’t qualify as a collapse to me. How have they proven they are a very good team thus far?

Wins and Point Diff Around the League
Boatdrinks replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, in a nutshell the Bills are half a football team. The defense is above average, and the offense is below. In today’s NFL, it seems better to be strong on offense and weaker on D than the other way around. The game favors offense so much now, that most assets are best spent on that side of the ball. An elite pass rusher and a top CB / cover LB should be the major investments on D. 20 years ago a top D could carry a team. -
Football Really Is About Minimizing Errors and Josh Allen

Pretty sure BB has stated that most NFL games are lost rather than won. I would tend to agree with him. -
Buccaneers waived CB Vernon Hargreaves

He will be claimed by a team higher on the waiver priority. -
Exactly. Brady is the biggest outlier of all time.

True. Contrary to what that guy believes, there are bad OCs out there. A good one can make a difference. There’s definitely an art to it, and some are just much better than others. Wilson is a superior QB, but even that can’t always bail out a bad strategy. Allen isn’t playing at a level to succeed with a mediocre scheme just yet. I hope he can improve, but in the meantime I don’t think he can overcome Daboll’s lackluster game plans.

Good Teams Start with Competent Coaching

Would have been smart, and the time was more valuable than the TO. There are other ways to get the clock stopped. You won’t get time back on the clock. -
NFC Slug-Fest: Hawks @ 9ers
Boatdrinks replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does, but I’m not sure McD has it in him. They need a better OC to go along with some better players. -
One could argue they were making more big plays earlier in the year. The coaches have drilled the “ don’t throw INTs “ mantra into Allen, but that’s meant a more conservative offense. The big plays have dropped off a lot the last 4 or 5 games. Some of that is also defenses catching up , and Daboll hasn’t done much to counter. The offense has actually gotten worse.

He should have went for it on the 4th and short late. Their kicking situation is shaky; have to be able to get a half yard. -
It is, and hasn’t been adequately addressed to date. Some of that is directly on him. This unit could have Watkins and Smith -Schuster for example. That’s squarely on his shoulders.

This team is still a year away
Boatdrinks replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A look at the offensive roster says yes, they are a year away. Major work ahead for Beane and Co to add talent. -
The scheme is poor, but the Bills skill position players are sub par. Brown and Beasley are all they have. The rest of their guys aren’t stars on any NFL team.

It Will All Come Down to Week 17 vs the Jets
Boatdrinks replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I’ve long thought that the 10th win wouldn’t come until the week 17 Jets game, it no longer seems likely. A more likely scenario is the Bills will have run out of chances before that. Week 17 may only get them to 8 or 9. I’d guess no. He returns, they get another FA period to address the offense and pass rush as well as the draft. If things haven’t improved by the end of next season he’s on the hot seat. -
Rational Thoughts after the Browns
Boatdrinks replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It probably is, but they won’t be any more talented next week. They are what the record says they are. Can’t beat more talented teams, they can win close games with the rest. Another close game that could go either way with a play here or there is on deck.
