Football Really Is About Minimizing Errors and Josh Allen
Boatdrinks replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty sure BB has stated that most NFL games are lost rather than won. I would tend to agree with him. -
Buccaneers waived CB Vernon Hargreaves
Boatdrinks replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He will be claimed by a team higher on the waiver priority. -
Exactly. Brady is the biggest outlier of all time.

True. Contrary to what that guy believes, there are bad OCs out there. A good one can make a difference. There’s definitely an art to it, and some are just much better than others. Wilson is a superior QB, but even that can’t always bail out a bad strategy. Allen isn’t playing at a level to succeed with a mediocre scheme just yet. I hope he can improve, but in the meantime I don’t think he can overcome Daboll’s lackluster game plans.

Good Teams Start with Competent Coaching
Boatdrinks replied to Kevinpop's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would have been smart, and the time was more valuable than the TO. There are other ways to get the clock stopped. You won’t get time back on the clock. -
NFC Slug-Fest: Hawks @ 9ers
Boatdrinks replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does, but I’m not sure McD has it in him. They need a better OC to go along with some better players. -
One could argue they were making more big plays earlier in the year. The coaches have drilled the “ don’t throw INTs “ mantra into Allen, but that’s meant a more conservative offense. The big plays have dropped off a lot the last 4 or 5 games. Some of that is also defenses catching up , and Daboll hasn’t done much to counter. The offense has actually gotten worse.

NFC Slug-Fest: Hawks @ 9ers
Boatdrinks replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He should have went for it on the 4th and short late. Their kicking situation is shaky; have to be able to get a half yard. -
It is, and hasn’t been adequately addressed to date. Some of that is directly on him. This unit could have Watkins and Smith -Schuster for example. That’s squarely on his shoulders.

This team is still a year away
Boatdrinks replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A look at the offensive roster says yes, they are a year away. Major work ahead for Beane and Co to add talent. -
The scheme is poor, but the Bills skill position players are sub par. Brown and Beasley are all they have. The rest of their guys aren’t stars on any NFL team.

It Will All Come Down to Week 17 vs the Jets
Boatdrinks replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I’ve long thought that the 10th win wouldn’t come until the week 17 Jets game, it no longer seems likely. A more likely scenario is the Bills will have run out of chances before that. Week 17 may only get them to 8 or 9. I’d guess no. He returns, they get another FA period to address the offense and pass rush as well as the draft. If things haven’t improved by the end of next season he’s on the hot seat. -
Rational Thoughts after the Browns
Boatdrinks replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It probably is, but they won’t be any more talented next week. They are what the record says they are. Can’t beat more talented teams, they can win close games with the rest. Another close game that could go either way with a play here or there is on deck. -
Rational Thoughts after the Browns
Boatdrinks replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m curious if the catastrophe at the end was strategy or just incompetence , confusion and lack of preparation. In the heat of the moment, I wasn’t thinking it was deliberate. It looked like a cluster. -
Is Wallace the best option for CB2?
Boatdrinks replied to UConn James's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Possibly, as the coaches think he is. Perhaps they will make a change. Sure, it would be great to have a superstar at every position on D and have no weaknesses. That’s unlikely to happen in today’s league. Some pass rush once in awhile would probably cease any griping about Wallace. The defense isn’t the problem with this team right now. -
One important question I have on the last drive
Boatdrinks replied to Thunderstruck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This^^. No mystery to this. -
Possibly. It depends how much time was left when the drive ended, where the Bills got the ball etc etc. If the Bills score a TD on their final possession the game is almost certainly over. The defense is above average. They can’t always cover for a bottom 5 or so offense. Football rules aren’t set up that way. The offense has to do its part.
-
Except it wasn’t the final drive. The Bills got the ball back with about 1:40 on the clock and a timeout. You should win or tie that game 90% of the time. It’s a ton of time, and they couldn’t do it. Sometimes the team who has the ball last is going to win the game, and this should have been one of those times. NFL rules don’t favor the defense.
